Microphone i/o issues
silverhead replied to IsaacPBrown's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
Please give us some info about your equipment. I presume you're using a Line 6 audio device. Which one? What computer OS are you using? What recording software? What are you using the mic for - vocal or instrument? What instrument? -
What Line 6 looping device are you using? Line 6 loopers (except perhaps for the JM-4 looper) have no concept of tempo, beats, or timing. Recording starts when you press the footswitch and ends when you press it again. It's up to you to start/stop the loop recording on the 'beat' that is in your head. If you start recording before you start playing on the beat, or stop after the beat, the looper will record the silence before/after you start/stop playing.

That would be best. But if the seller won't/can't do that at the point of sale, visually inspect the USB port. You should see a piece of black plastic in the port. If that is missing and you can see the exposed connection pins, the port is damaged and likely doesn't work. That's a deal-breaker. Don't buy it.

Firehawk needs these improvements to remove big limitations
silverhead replied to bhtwinge's topic in Firehawk
Yes - that idea requires a design that includes dynamic DSP allocation, like the Pod HD500X. With dynamic DSP the user can keep placing FX blocks of any type in any order until the DSP limit of the device is inevitably reached. Then you can't add any more, and you get the system message that says "DSP Limit Reached". That's one design approach. The other, and more common, design approach is to constrain the number and placement of FX blocks so that the DSP limit can never be reached, and the user never sees such a message. That's the design that Firehawk uses, with the constraint that some FX blocks are fixed in type. That explains why you can't swap an EQ block for another (more DSP-intensive) FX type like Delay or Mod. You have a smaller number of FX blocks that are fully assignable in order to ensure that the DSP limit is never exceeded. .... so the short story is that you will never see fully flexible FX block assignment in Firehawk. If you really need that sort of design, look at the HD500X. -
I suggest you reinstall the Firehawk firmware, preferably using the usb connection rather than Bluetooth. That error is usually a symptom of incompatible or corrupt presets/patches being loaded from the cloud. Some patches originally created in very early versions of Firehawk firmware can cause this.

Firehawk Expression pedal to control a separate FX loop pedal
silverhead replied to Varialogue1's topic in Firehawk
I don't think so. Haven't heard of anyone doing that successfully. The FX Loop only carries an audio signal - don't see how that could control an external pedal. -
Helix USB interface with Cubase on Mac OSX El Capitan 10.11
silverhead replied to ofp2079's topic in Helix
I received the following email earlier today...... (the link is not active - go to the downloads page). Its release date was a couple of weeks ago, but El Capitan users who haven't updated yet should do so. Dear Line 6 Customer, The new Line 6 Audio/MIDI Driver, version 7.5.7 for Mac, brings compatibility and improved performance fixes when used in conjunction with Mac OS X "El Capitan" 10.11.1 (and higher). Download v7.5.7 here, or for more detailed information on this driver, please visit the Line 6 forum:- 17 replies

silverhead replied to bhtwinge's topic in Firehawk
I have moved this thread into the Firehawk forum. -
You can use it with any POD HD device except the HD300/400.

Oops.... Thanks for the correction.

on the first page of the settings menus (hold down the VIEW button for a couple of seconds) you will see a parameter called FS Mode. When set to ABCD you can use the A-D footswitches to select the 4 presets in the current bank. When set to FS5-8 all 8 footswitches are available to control FX on/off in the current preset, and you use the up/down arrows to cycle the presets.

Uploading My Tones to a user preset bank errors out

Have you tried 'Forgetting' the Firehawk as a bluetooth device and then re-establishing the connection? -
HD 500X Strange behavior with expression pedal controlling parameters
silverhead replied to Williamlavon's topic in POD HD
Hmmmm.... thanks for this clarification. Makes sense when I think about it more; turning the Vol FX OFF via footswitch will bypass it as you say. Hadn't thought that one through. I guess the toe switch leaves the FX active but simply switches the pedal sweep affect to the other pedal. I'm not sure how the OP can set things up to do what he wants, then. -
HD 500X Strange behavior with expression pedal controlling parameters
silverhead replied to Williamlavon's topic in POD HD
I think the way you are trying to use the pedal means you should use a footswitch, not the toe switch, to turn EXP-1 and 2 on/off. I think what's going on is that in order to switch from EXP-2 (reverb) back to EXP-1 (vol) you need to use the toe switch. In doing so you necessarily have to move the pedal to the full toe position (reverb=50%). As soon as you activate the toe switch, the pedal controls vol but reverb stays where it last was when you switched - at max. Try assigning the pedal switching to a footswitch. Assign the same footswitch to both pedals, and save the preset with one pedal ON and the other OFF. The pedal sweep will still control the parameter but you won't need to move it to max value in order to change pedals. -
The paths are not related to the outputs. In other words, Path A does not correspond to the L output jack. Not sure why you would expect a stereo output jack. Both paths are stereo and each path is sent to both outputs as specified in the mixer. Edit: To put it another way....... The L output jack carries its share (the left-side portion) of the stereo signal from both Path A and Path B, as specified in the mixer. Similarly, the R output jack carries the specified right-side portion of the signal from both paths.

I set the speaker to Reference/PA mode and use the cab/mic sims in Firehawk.
-
I use Firehawk with an L3t speaker. Works great.
-
Excellent! I'm sure you'll enjoy them for a long time.
-
The L and R outputs of the HD Desktop form a stereo pair. Neither one sums a stereo signal to mono so if you only use one output you only get one half of the stereo signal. Not sure exactly what you mean when you ask if you can dual amp out in stereo. Both signal paths, A & B, in the device are stereo paths and they are both sent to the L/R outputs as specified in the HD mixer. If the mixer specifies that both paths are centered in the stereo field, then both paths (amps) are sent in full stereo.
-
Yes, that will be fine. For best results set the Output Mode in the HD500 to Studio/Direct and set the switch for the 1/4" outputs to Line (not amp). I would start by setting the KRK volume level to mid-range value (the 'notch' position if there is one). Set the HD500 master output level low and increase it until you get a good sound volume in the room. If you need more then increase the KRK levels.

You need to press down really hard to activate the toe switch. You often can't do it while sitting down. You need to stand up and really push hard on the toe of the pedal. Don't worry - you won't break it.
-
Sometimes the pins inside the VDI jack are bent, usually the result of mistakenly trying to jam a 1/4" jack into the VDI. Some users have fixed it by straightening the pins using a "J-hook" fashioned out of any very thin wire that may be lying around the house ( a twist tie?).

L2T's - two questions
silverhead replied to bobwootton's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
Yes and no. To be accurate, they aren't summed to mono. From the input stage they are, and remain, four distinct mono signals. But, being mono and having no pan control, all 4 are placed in the middle of the stereo field when two speakers are used. There is nothing to sum, meaning there is no way to impose stereo seperation without a pan control. -
I think you should do what the message suggests: inform Line 6. You can do that by opening a support ticket (see the Support tab above).

Assign each amp's Volume control to the pedal. Assign the min/max range oppositely for each pedal so that as the pedal moves it is turning up the volume of one amp and simultaneously turning down the volume of the other. At both the heel and toe positions one amp's volume is at max while the other is silent.
