Try to determine whether it's just a headphone issue or a more general issue. Did you test the headphones themselves with another device? Do you get the same symptom when using the POD's XLR or 1/4" audio outputs? There is no setting that would affect the output only to the headphones.

When you assign the expression pedal you must specify whether you are assigning EXP-1 or EXP-2. Then make sure your pedal is actually set to the specified EXP1 or 2 when you are using it to control the parameter.

Simply duplicating the settings of the PF2 preset on the POD HD will not result in exactly the same sound. This is because the amp modelling is completely different, and also because many of the PF2 amp models are not available in the HD. Consider manual replication of the PF2 preset on the HD to be a starting point for further tweaking to get the sound you want.

You will need to buy both a VDI cable and an L6 LINK cable. The VDI cable is basically an RJ-45 (Ethernet) cable with a protective shield at both ends. There is a user on this forum who sells his custom built cables at a very reasonable price. A quick search of the forum should find him. The L6 LINK cable uses XLR cable jacks but it is an AES/EBU cable designed to carry digital data. Any AES/EBU cable will do.

No - the AES/EBU cables for L6 LINK are not included with the rig. You must purchase them separately. See the Line 6 STORE link at top of this page for the official Line 6 cables. There's one thing to clearly understand about storing the speaker mode in the HD500X preset. That mechanism is designed for the situation where you are using the speaker exclusively for the HD500X. However, if the speaker is being used as a general PA speaker, with other pieces of equipment connected to the PA system, you probably do not want to use this feature. Leave the speaker in PA/Reference mode so that all pieces of equipment maintain a consistent sound, and make sure you save all your HD500X presets with the speaker in this mode.

Check the Line 6 Audio-MIDI Devices item in your computer's Control Panel or Preferences area. On the Recordings/Input tab there should be a +18db tickbox. Make sure it is checked if you want to give your recording level a boost.

Download and install the HD500X Edit software from the Downloads section of this website, which you will find under the Support tab at the top of this page.

I haven't heard of anyone who's tested this yet. Why not try it and let us know the result?

Check this one out from post #5 on. I think it's what you are asking. Apologies if not. http://line6.com/support/topic/3682-how-those-the-mic-input-on-x3-or-hd500or-hd500x-really-works/?do=findComment&comment=60690

Mobile Keys direct to M20D - Possible?
silverhead replied to tubeampsrock's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
No - you can't connect directly. Mobile Keys is a MIDI controller; it produces no audio by itself. The audio is generated by an external device (like you computer/iPad) and/or software (like Garageband) which receives the midi data and translates it into sound. Sonic Port is not a midi device either. But you could connect your Mobile Keys to your iPad running Garageband and then connect the iPad audio output to an M20d stereo channel input or its Aux input. -
New to JTV - and not impressed
silverhead replied to xrayjohn's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The battery may be a dud. The other behaviour may just be corrupt firmware, but since you have the extended warranty I think your best bet is to have the JTV replaced. Are you sure your JTV is brand new? Guitar Center is somewhat notorious for simply reselling returned equipment as new. But your JTV may indeed be a lemon, perhaps previously returned. Once you get a properly functioning JTV you will be able to trust it. -
I used to use the mic periodically for separate processing of vocals and guitar, and also for recording. I still use it for recording but since I got my M20d and L3t speakers I use one of those for live vocals. I found using the HD500 for vocals with backing guitar was too troublesome because there is no "Lock Tone 2" equivalent feature on the HD500 as there was on the Pod X3. This meant that you had to manually recreate the vocal processing on Path B and Input 2 for every preset. Too cumbersome.

XPS Pedal Question
silverhead replied to xrayjohn's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The XPS box will power the JTV but you need to use a TRS (stereo) cable. It will not recharge the battery. -
When using the editor, use the SEND command in the editor to send/save the preset to the HD device. Do not use the SAVE button on the device while the edit program is running. In fact, you should avoid touching any setting on the device itself while the editor is running. This can cause a loss of synchronicity between the edit program and the device memory, resulting in the sort of behaviour you describe.

@NucleusX How much foresight should be expected of you? None. How much should you care about other Line 6 products? Not at all. Should we assume that the POD HD has reached EOL? Yes, that should be our working assumption until and unless we know (not speculate) otherwise. As soon as you find a better product for yourself, from any manufacturer, you should buy it. Don't waste further time speculating about what Line 6 might or might not do next, and stop (apparently) resenting the fact that they are working on other products.

I placed a patch in Customtone ages ago called Wet&Dry. It illustrates the required setup. Hopefully a quick search will find it for you.

The M20d is not designed to be an audio interface for general purposes like you describe. It is OK for audio capture (recording an original performance) but it has too much latency to be used as a general soundcard or as a recording interface for overdubbing and multiple takes. I have experienced the same latency that you do and have not been able to remove it. I don't think you'll find satisfaction with this.

Search the forum. I'm sure someone some time ago posted an 'empty' setlist. You could then use the editor to load the empty setlist into your device, one setlist at a time. Of course you can create your own 'empty' preset/setlist (probably in less time) by manually removing all the amp/fx from a preset. Then copy that empty preset into all preset slots in the setlist. Then save the setlist using the editor, and reload it into all other setlists. If you want to restore the factory presets (and you didn't originally save the setlists) you will have to reinstall the firmware and choose not to keep existing presets.

How Those The Mic Input On X3 Or Hd500,or Hd500x Really Works?
silverhead replied to xaelgt's topic in POD HD
I wonder if this would generate a nasty feedback loop. We know that feedback for vocalists occurs when the vocal mic picks up its own signal from the PA speaker; just try standing in front of the speaker with the mic pointed at it when singing! I know the setup you describe is different in the sense that the mic is not picking up its own signal through the amp's speaker, but the same sort of signal double-processing could occur in the HD500 preset setup. You may be able to avoid it by ensuring that you use a dual-path setup in the HD500 that keeps the mic and guitar signals completely separate. -
Was warble fixed in the HD firmware?
silverhead replied to clay-man's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
ANY buzzing is enough to cause anomalies like warbling. The piezos in a Variax do not tolerate buzzing at all - especially in a JTV; buzzing will produce artifacts in the sound - virtually guaranteed. Just to test, try raising your action to eliminate any buzzing and see if the warbling remains. -
When you create a new tone, make sure you set one of the Inputs (input1 and/or Input2) to correspond to the physical input jack that you are connecting your guitar to. Usually, you would connect your guitar to the Guitar Input jack, and select Guitar as Input 1.
