roscoe5
I came across this Guitar World article this morning about Line 6 Tone Made Pro seminars based around Helix. They look like physical, in-person classes right now. Maybe Line 6 could expand this to virtual classes as well. http://www.guitarworld.com/gear-news-amplifiers-effects/what-line-6s-20-years-innovation-means-guitarists/30509 http://line6.com/events/tonemadepro/#tmpro-classes
vmoncebaiz
The article was mainly about the Tone Made Pro Master Class that Line 6 put on at HQ in Calabasas. It differs slightly from our normal Tone Made Pro Clinics that we put on through out the rest of the country. There were special guest artists, and it was an all day event vs an hour in your local guitar store with one of the Line 6 Product Specialists. I thought it might be a cool idea to offer either version of these events as live streams. More people could join in, and the live chat in a stream makes for some really useful Q&A time. Particularly for the Master Classes, I think tuning in to see a guy like Pete Thorn dial in some really healthy sounding patches would be incredible valuable for Helix users or potential Helix users.
roscoe5
Live streams would be great, even if Q&A wasn't enabled for the virtual attendees. Although I may just have to schedule some project work or training in our California office around the time of the next class ;)

vmoncebaiz
I wanted to do these at first just so I could work from the comfort of home while wearing pajama bottoms all day. Then after seeing the Master Class I thought it would be an awesome way to connect with Line 6 artists and see how they are actually doing things. Also Mr. Digital Igloo stopped in a dropped all sorts of Helix UI knowledge and shortcuts on the crowd. I've been using the thing for almost 2 years and he still blows my mind with it. roscoe5
Ha, I do work from home in my pajamas doing CFD and FEA modeling and simulations...and play more than I should ;) I really do appreciate the efforts, support and interaction from the Line 6 staff and partners. It makes me feel like part of the company trying to achieve the same goals. Other companies, even outside of the music tech industry, can learn a lot from you guys. I think a lot of the L6 culture permeates into even my own personal projects and efforts with my company and colleagues, whether directly or indirectly. inveigle
A video of one of these classes or a live stream would be most appreciated.
MusicLaw
If the August '16 class was recorded (audio or video), making that available for playback/viewing (to Helix owners and others interested) would be another great learning resource and likely increase attendance at the next one(s).
Dshow
I've entered an Idea about this on Ideascale some time ago but it didn't get much attention: http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Tone-Made-Pro-as-Online-Class/802641-23508
MusicLaw
I attended Line6's ToneMadePro Event at Guitar Center, Northridge last evening. Line 6's Andy Paredes did an exceptionally informative and well paced presentation. Andy tastfully demonstrated numerous well known artistic tone configurations using the Helix LT while providing clear and concise explanations. His presentation included graphics from the Line6.com/ToneTemplate PDFs. These were amongst some of the most useful gems provided during the just over an hour event. Highly recommended if you can get to one of these Events. Check the Line 6 Events section of Line6.com for dates, and locations. And, if they were to video one of these, it would be a terrific resource for all to view who may not be able to attend one of the live events.

Yeah, I didn't think one was needed but I seem to recall someone saying when they attended a Line 6 thing that afterwards, he was talking to the Line 6 guy about some of the patches and he offered them to him there. Wondering if you saw that at yours. I should have been more specific about what I was asking. Sorry.

MusicLaw
During Andy's presentation, he was using his Laptop for PowerPoint style graphics, and the Helix LT unit. I do not think he was using the Editor to change any of the Presets nor enable/disable Stomps, or Select Snapshots. He was using his feet for these changes while playing. He did not show the Helix Editor during the presentation.

Wondering if you saw that at yours. I should have been more specific about what I was asking. Sorry. Well I don't know if I ever posted what you heard, but I did attend the Helix Master Class at Line 6 hdq's and I did ask for and got the entire set list of patches that were used during a demonstration by Paul H. Since the class you are discussing, does use a bunch of patches to match popular songs and artist styles, you could probably do the same thing and ask the presenter for them. It wouldn't hurt. Truthfully, I've been so busy with different things that I never loaded those patches into my Helix. Now that you reminded me, I think I may do that tomorrow. StruckingFuggle
Tone Made Pro class in Austin tonight. They moved it from the north GC to the south GC. This sucks because I'm up in Round Rock, and trying to get to south Austin between before 6:00 will take 90 minutes. Not sure if it's worth it. brue58ski
I've signed up for two of these in my area and then forget about them. (I hate getting old). There's one more Guitar Center near me that hasn't had one yet. Hope it will happen and more to the point, I won't forget.

I was planning on doing one in a month that is an hour away, but not sure its worth it to drive for nothing. For those that have gone, did you find it useful? I've had the Helix for a month now and have dug into it fairly well. Is there something at these things for the more advanced modeling user? I doubt the fault lies with Line 6 not showing up but more with GC posting something online and then not following through with the rest of the scheduling necessary to make it happen. If you sign up, I'd call GC and make sure the manager is aware of it and says it's happening. The Tone Pro presentation is very well organized and interesting. More geared towards showing the way tone was made by the original artists back in the day, and the presenter playing a patch that does it all with one guitar into a Helix. But there is no Helix specific tricks discussed or shown. More of a broad outline of different types of tone and that it can now be accomplished without all of the original equipment. MusicLaw
There is always the possibility of last minute scheduling conflicts. Nonetheless, the Tone Made Pro schedule is established by Line 6. The Managers of the individual GC store locations are only aware that their location will be the site for an hour long event. More than that, the other employees at each store may not be informed. The one I attended was very informative. See my earlier post in this thread. If the GC location where you have registered and plan to attend the Tone Pro event on Line 6's schedule is a long drive from your location, there's no harm in contacting that GC location several hours before the event to confirm that it is still "On" and that Line 6's rep has not had a last minute need to cancel.
scthom
Hi scthom, which GC location were you at? It was the Charlotte NC (University City) location. The staff was friendly but had no information. Fortunately for me it's just a few minutes from my home, but I would hate to have driven across town for it. If there was a last-minute change-of-location none of the four of us received any notifications and I believe we had all pre-registered. As mentioned by others, it's organized and put on by Line 6 so I'm not surprised local staff had no knowledge. So no knock on GC intended here. vmoncebaiz
Hey guys. I am really sorry for those of you who showed up at the Guitar Center in Charlotte, NC on 7/27. It wasn't exactly a no show. We actually held a TMP clinic at the Sam Ash Music store in Charlotte that evening. But most unfortunately, the event posting was incorrectly listed as the Guitar Center in Charlotte. Again I apologize to the guys who missed out because of this mistake. I was completely unaware of the mix-up until the following day. That Guitar Center location is certainly not to blame, as they wouldn't be expected to have any idea about an event they aren't actually hosting.
