  1. Line 6 already sub-divides them into folders which (IMO) is much cleaner than cluttering a single folder with two of everything with the mono/stereo suffix added to each name. When creating a chain.... as soon as you use a stereo effect you need to stay stereo the rest of the way. Any MONO effect (after the stereo effects) will collapse the entire chain back to mono. If you plan on collapsing to mono, then just use mono effects to begin with unless the model doesn't exist in mono.

  2. I've never understood the obsession with having the latest and greatest "Product X". A device either fulfills your wants/needs, or it doesn't. I have a 5 year old phone in my pocket. Why? Because it works. How different could the brand new one that Verizon wants to sell me for $1K possibly be? Who cares if an even newer one is coming out in 3 months? SPOILER ALERT: We live in a disposable economy. Something new is always coming out in 3 months. Couple that with a buying public who: A) Has been conditioned to believe that they're "missing out" if they don't treat themselves to every shiny new toy that hits the shelves, and B) Often has the attention span of a house fly... And the result is discussions like this, lol. At this point the "next big thing" IS just around the corner... and that ain't gonna change anytime soon....whether it's from L6 or somebody else, whatever it is, it's coming. You can play the waiting game if you want, but if you get sucked down that rabbit hole, you'll never buy anything... because "what if the next thing is better?" Oh, the horror...;) Buy whatever you want/ need, and can afford. But waiting with bated breath for extended and/ or unknown periods of time for some future, even more magical device, is just an exercise in self-denial. Just my 2 cents...

  3. I am trying to figure out if there is a fast way to delete presets in HX Edit? I right click, etc., and there is NO Delete OR Save! I looked in the manual and nothing. Help?

  4. OK - I misunderstood the technology. Thanks for the clarification and education!

  5. HI, There is a whole world of mystery surrounding USB cables and connections , no matter what type we happen to use - you with your iMac and the OP on Windows PC. So when you say - "worked flawlessly with my iMac (USB3 only AFAIK) for 3 years", you will note that there are actually three different versions of USB 3. Micro B Mini B 8 Pin Lightning Type A 2 Type B 2 Type A 3 Type B 3 Type C 3 Oh, and let's not forget USB4. Here's a fun discussion about Helix USB disconnects which started in Jan 2021 right through to Jan 2024. It is well documented that anything to do with updating the Firmware requires people to avoid using USB hubs, or the front ports on certain Windows PCs, etc. It may well be that you have successfully used USB 3, for however long previously, but that doesn't detract from the fact that the Line 6 Helix is designed and marketed as a USB 2.0 device. Deviate from the advice and you may well encounter problems. Just saying. I said it was complicated!

  6. OOPS.... If anyone has been following this for the last few minutes, please ignore two earlier posts i made and have since deleted. I was misinterpreting the display of alternate tunings in HX Edit and on my Helix Rack. Apologies for any confusion. This appears NOT to be a bug. Alternate tunings are working as expected for me with my Helix Rack running v3.71 and my JTV-59. If it were an actual bug I would be seeing it too, and it would probably have been noticed and reported by many others by this time. I strongly suspect there is something wrong with @geordie100's setup or equipment. @geordie100: I would try solving the problem by following these steps in order: 1) Try another VDI cable. If you don't have a spare you can use a standard network cable (RJ-45) temporarily. Test your alternate tunings. If still a problem... 2) Visually inspect the VDI ports on both your Helix and your JTV. If any pins appear bent straighten them using an improvised J-hook from some wire that's thin enough to get in there yet strong enough to straighten the pins. Test your alternate tunings. If still a problem... 3) Reset you Helix device. Restore everything from your v3.70 Backup file (there are no new factory presets in v3.71). After restoring, turn your Helix off/on to force an immediate rebuild of any presets that may require it. Test your alternate tunings. If still a problem... 4) Reinstall the firmware on your JTV-59. Test your alternate tunings. If still a problem... 5) Open a support ticket. There may be a hardware fault in either your Helix or your JTV.

  7. Just to remind you guys we are in 2024. Modern PCs and Macs, doesn't even use a USB 2 hardware root, so this isn't really the point. USB 3 ports they do auto run with 2.0 speeds when required by the device plugged. Point is these updaters are extremely sensible to many things, as basically everything coming from L6. :) Isn't always user error, sometimes it's just bad HAL from the companies.

  8. That's true. Not a biggie in case you just use a volume block and leave it at unitiy gain. Needs pretty much no CPU, doesn't affect the sound. Should still be possible to get dual mono signals from the Helix without adding a block.

  9. It would be good to get that straight but I don’t know if we can. The reality is that many people are able to use USB3 with no issues, while some issues are resolved when USB2 rather than USB3 is used. So some reported issues are somehow caused by USB3 while no reported issues are known to be caused by USB2. Hence the prudent thing for Line 6 to do is to recommend always using USB2, which is what they are doing. Meanwhile, in the background, they may be investigating further to try to identify and resolve any technical issues with using USB3. If they are doing so we don’t know about it. It reminds me of a different yet similar issue with non/partially-ASIO compliant drivers like ASIO4ALL. Some people use it without any issues. For others, their issues disappear when they use the Line 6 ASIO compliant driver. So Line 6 Support simply does not offer support for ASIO4ALL environments. They support only installations that use the Line 6 ASIO driver.

  10. Helix debuted sometime in 2015, if memory serves. Given that they haven't gotten around to cranking out an iPad editor during the first 9 years of the product's life cycle, then the smart money says that it's gonna be a long wait for a train that ain't coming...

  11. Dunedin kind of mentioned something that I agree with as well. I've been waiting for amp modelling to get to the stage the Helix was at when it was first issued. I started with the Rockman (technically the first amp sim I guess). Had a SansAmp, Digitech GSP 2101, Peavey Rockmaster with an Ampulator (I still have those) and got to the Pod XT and have been staying with Line 6 ever since. I did not buy the Helix right away. I'm not so sure, even if Line 6 came out with something that I would purchase it. I don't think I'm the only one that feels that way. Just one more thing to think about when you make your decision.

  12. There are a number of us that came to the Helix from the POD HD when it was first released. I would say that technology jump was not exactly a sea change in capabilities. It solved a few aggravations we had with the POD HD, but the Helix is now a VERY different animal. In my estimation it's only just now beginning to show it's true potential after the last few firmware updates. That's why even were your biggest fear of a new "Helix" to come to pass you wouldn't have really lost much because the features and capabilities in the Helix these days are so numerous and extraordinary over the POD HD, its still money well spent I would say. I honestly don't think this is about having the newest, shiniest object as much as it is a system capable of allowing you to achieve the current state of the art in modeling especially comparing it to the POD HD. More DSP? Not even a consideration for me as I rarely run into that problem. Built-in WiFi or Bluetooth, been there and done that and had to have lose my whole unit for maintenance when they broke and I'm fine with using a workaround if I have to as long as my unit remains available. Touch screen? I have touch screen on my laptop I don't use, and touch screen on my QSC TM30 mixer I barely make use of preferring the real dials and buttons, touch screen on my tablet that's absolutely aggravating and annoying to have to use. Even touch screen on my new car, which is literally dangerous to try and use if you're driving. They may sound cool but I've yet to run into an instance that makes me more productive than a keyboard and a mouse. But I'll admit it's good marketing fluff for people that like shiny, new objects. Personally I think the whole "shiny new object" innovations are more based on the fact that the DSP chips being used today in the Helix are just as capable as anything newer, and that's likely to be the case for a while. So until that happens (which would REALLY be a sea change), I'll be fine with this unit.

  13. The fact that I have to spent lots of time on the web to find a way to delete a preset!?...after spending a LOT of time trying to find a delete function (or a way to delete) on both the HX stomp unit and HX Edit software....with negative results warranties returning this thing. Time should be spend making music not combining insurmountable color blocks and sliders on a screen, off course IMHO. I am sure FX edit-gurus will be delighted, but not a normal musician (pro or otherwise) The irony is, I was expecting to find at least already made presets for the songs (famous pink floyd songs) that I need effects for but there in almost nothing and the ones that are available are just terrible. The presets for bass that come with the unit are completely useless and exaggerated. Good luck pulling up any of these presets on a sound check at any venue. BTW there is no "clear All Blocks" option on the right click menu on HX Edit..the options are: "Copy, rename, import, export" I would have tried clear all blocks and saved time if I saw it!

  14. Line 6 Updater app will not connect to hardware in a failed state if HX Edit is open and running in the background, also, see bullet point 4 below. See bullet point 4 from the notes below: Updating Helix/HX IMPORTANT! Carefully read and follow the update instructions below. If you don't—and then run to the forums asking why it's not working—the interwebs will make fun of you. IMPORTANT! In the unlikely event that your update fails, please follow the steps below: Unplug the USB cable from both the back of your Helix and the computer. Turn your Helix/HX device off and on. Reconnect the USB cable to your Helix/HX device and the computer. Download, install, and launch the latest version of Line 6 Updater. In a failure state, the device will not connect to HX Edit. Line 6 Updater for macOS: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9831 Line 6 Updater for Windows: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9832 Select your device and try updating to the latest firmware again. If the device does not show up in Line 6 Updater after these steps, try a different USB cable and/or USB port. If it still doesn't show up, try a different computer Hope this helps/makes sense.

  15. None of the above helped me, but the comments about hostnames lead me to find my solution. I had to change my computer name for security reasons, so changing it back was not an option. What fixed it for me was to: 1. De-authorize my macbook (I did this on line6.com) 2. Delete these folders to totally remove Native and all user settings: "${HOME}/Library/Application Support/Line 6" "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Helix Native.component" "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Line 6/Helix Native.vst" "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/Line 6/Helix Native.vst3" "/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins Line 6" 3. Reinstall Native, login and authorise computer (I actually used the line6 license manager to authorise the computer before reinstalling Native) I wrote a simple script to achieve the above. Maybe it will be of some use to someone else. See my github gist: https://gist.github.com/Huevos-y-Bacon/93b59173945137523cab9a46335c34b3

  16. I had the same problem and I tried what the Line6 Expert said. Did not work or rather there was a change in the interface, so the exact marketplace interface Button isn't even there anymore. So what I did and now it finally works again (Idk which step was most important for it to work so here is everything that I did. Some steps may be unnecessary) 1. I deauthorized my Mac (I still have another Windows device authorized and there it works perfectly) and then reauthorized it 2. After that i logged out of Helix Native and uninstalled it 3. Installed it again and logged in. Hmm. still the same problem and my other presets are still there 4. Restored factory Presets. My other presets still weren't useable 5. Restored all setlists. And now it works again It really probably was the restoration thing that solved the problem. But maybe it would not have worked without the other steps. But you still could try only to reset everything

  18. You can write a huge reply like you did trying to justify it, but the person was here asking people who know the answers.... Using a forum just like he should. I know I certainly wouldn't have appreciated your reply if I came here seeking help. The Facebook group is very friendly, so I was surprised to the reply here to someone asking how to delete presets that he should RTFM.

  20. Yea this is absolutely rude to tell someone asking a valid question to go read the manual. Because you're assuming that's how everyone can learn things. But many many people have learning disabilities of different styles of learning (auditory, tactile, hands on, etc) Reading a manual is often one of a person's weakest learning Method. I personally have a high IQ but my attention span for reading a manual just isn't there anymore at my age. I ask friends, watch demos, research forums before going into a manual. Some people are manual readers some are not. I bring this up because this is a comment I see fairly often on forums from people that basically want to put other people down to lift themselves up. This is a weak character trait often characteristic of the non-creative type, unemotional, or the old-fashioned conservative type

  21. Having the same issue but all the presets are ones that I created myself. Any solutions on this yet? I found one of them that I could save again and it got rid of the pick and managed to reload it but the other's are toast until I figure this out.

  22. Wouldn't that be two button pushes - LOL! Thanks for the reminder on that one.... I don't use it myself because although that clears the blocks it doesn't reset the entire patch. Any changes to the I/O blocks or Command Center are not cleared with that method. That's fine if you have never set those differently to begin with, but it's still something to be aware of. Since I don't use that method, I'm not entirely sure how it deals with snapshots either. My fear of just removing the blocks would be unpredictable results when adding blocks back in. Maybe that fear is unwarranted... but in the meantime I'll just overwrite patches with a clean template.

  25. You can easily clear all blocks from a preset in one button push on the device. See knob4 after pressing the ACTION button. See Helix manual page 18 for certain limitations on what the Clear All Blocks does. There is also a Clear All Blocks function in HX Edit. Select any block on the preset then use right-click or a keyboard shortcut. See HX Edit manual page 19. (btw..... consulting the manuals is always good practice when wondering about something.)

  26. What's rude about that? Reading the manual can be very helpful. In your case, you wouldn't have had to come here, ask the question, and wait for an answer. The answer was already at your fingertips. I fail to see how pointing that out is rude. What is rude, however, is suggesting that I have a personal problem.

  27. I think there is a benefit in suggesting that people read the manuals when the question pertains to basic information that is contained in the manuals. Of course there is much more benefit in consulting with other users here about more detailed information not contained in the manuals, or about more complex product usage and configurations - information not contained in the manuals. I know that people learn differently and Line 6 provides many video tutorials in addition to manuals. Those who don’t learn well via text should definitely take advantage of those videos. But here’s the thing.... by asking questions here in this text-based forum a person has already accepted that they will need to read the answers in order to learn. So whose authorship and writing would be best to learn from? On the one hand you have the manuals, written by technical writing professionals in a clear and concise manner with information that is virtually guaranteed to be accurate. On the other hand you have a written response from a non-professional writer whose information may or may not be accurate or thorough and is almost certainly presented in a less clear and concise manner. That’s why I recommend the manual for basic information.I will continue to do so, though some consider it rude, because I believe it’s the best way to learn for those who want to read.

  28. And the world of Helix users are all better off for it..... NOW THAT is what would be correctly identified as "rude".
