  1. The transmitter will only work with one of them at a time, but it will for sure work with both. Any time you plug it into the amp or its own receiver, it will sync up with that one and be ready to use. (added) - you could technically have them both working at the same time if thats what you're asking or trying to do. It would just take a little more set up and might not be the most practical thing.
  2. I believe the rectifire model was modeled while set to "tube rectifier" and not to "silicone diode". So it sounds looser and more rounded than I am used to hearing a dual rec. For boosting physical amps, I never liked the Maxon or TS 808s because they take away a lot of bottom end and the TS has a nasally mid range character that doesn't always work for me. I started using the MXR GT-OD or the MXR Custom Badass Modified OD. I now use one or the other in front of Helix, and it's working very nicely.
  3. Yep. There are a 7 different pitch type FX on Helix (including the OSC note generator synth effects). The harmonizer effect allows you to choose the key, up to 2 different intervals, and 8 different scale types.
  4. I also like the idea that you would have your preferred mic always ready to go, and your just handing the front of house xlr cables.
  5. Fun little thought for those who run Helix along with amps that have no FX loop. You can always mic the amp and send it back into Helix for post FX.
  6. Using an overdrive pedal with the gain set to 0 but the level up really high will give you some compression and force the amp to tighten up a little without really adding gain. Some OD models work better than others for this.
  7. I'll definitely be around again soon. Stay posted to the line6.com/events page for the next round of Tone Made Pro in the Boston area this summer. I unfortunately don't at the moment. Just living the bedroom rockstar life. Just thinking about it does make me want a band again though.
  8. Nice, Ive been using Celestion's Greenback, Creamback, and V30 Its for a while now. They sound and feel so good. I will certainly have to look into this Redback
  9. You can attempt t do this with the pitch/whammy block by setting the mix to 100%, the position to 100%, and the toe value to +1. I would recommend trying this out at home before bringing it out live - its not really meant to be a polyphonic type of pitch shifter, could get wonky with big chords.

    Tuner

Does anyone know if note tracking and resolution fixes in the tuner would also work to improve the harmonizer and pitch effects? I am not sure if thats the case at all, but I feel like both those spots could benefit from some attention. Even if its not, I like the idea of making existing features even better in future updates. Wether its tweaked amps/fx, updated utility stuff, or buffing up the tuner.
  11. I try to turn my off when Im not using it, but I usually forget and it stays on for a day at a time if not longer. The floor control is on whenever the rack is on. No issues on either of them so far and its ben over a year (I think thats how long I've had them - hard to remember a time before Helix :)
  12. I had it and used it years ago. I loved it and thought it made the the DT amps insanely more versatile and powerful as stand alone rigs. I also spent some time looking for it but cannot find it. I broke out my old midi mobilizer and everything. If anyone has the Touch OSC file for the control map I would love to have it again.
  13. If you go the way of the Firehawk FX, I'd recommend checking out external speaker options. You can do the headphone thing, but I have never found it fun to play with small speakers set an inch off my ears, even with really nice headphones. It's even less fun with any sort of gain. There are some very affordable small PA speakers out there that actually sound a lot better than their price tags would suggest. I've even run similar processors into a home stereo before (and I tested the AMPLIFi TT with my tv's soundbar). It might not be ideal, but its so much more fun/inspiring than playing with headphones.
  14. I think the best to way do what you are looking for is like you said, duplicated the preset and replace the amp and cab with pre-amp only blocks. However, I think using the full amp models still sounds and feels better in every situation I have tried with physical power amps. So don't think you have to run it a certain way, try both and see what you like. Then all you'd have to do would be to remove the cabs in your existing patches.
  15. The Archon (clean and gain) and Litigator (everything in between) have been my go-tos and I'm happy to see them get love. Underrated: The JTM45 as a clean sound, the Supro with any speaker other than its own, and the "Dynamic 7" mic instead of the 57 or 421. A friend of mine also put me on to using a mild screamer808 -> Jazz Rivet 120 model -> chamber verb. for fusion sounds. I would have never stumbled across it myself, and it sounds good on every Line 6 product Ive tried. Even though they have different generations of modeling. (AMPLIFi - PodHD500x - Spider V - Helix)
  16. I like the sound of that. I think having all sorts of different, popular, modded versions of pedals would be an awesome thing. I never got along with the physical original Rat, so I never explored the mods. I've heard of a few players that have used it and sounded great, and I'm thinking no way that was the same pedal I had. I remember hating the BOSS blues driver, and thought the Keeley version was a crazy improvement. Even if it wasn't a separate model in Helix, having a switch for modded versions would be cool.
  17. In the menu -> global settings -> foot switches. Rotate it all the way clockwise for "8 snapshots". The mode button will change between 8 snaps or 8 stomps. Then the FS1 and FS7 will still work for changing presets. as soon as you change a preset, it will return to the snapshots or stomps you were previously on. That's how I have been running mine and I love it.
  18. That's a really good way to do it. I highly recommend making patches with two amps for switching between cleaner and gain-ier sounds in the same patch (spillover, no switching lag, and more options, especially with snapshots) Once you've got it set up with some effects, you can use that as your template for other patches and just swap the amps and effects as you need. Remember to set up snapshots last as those would be lost if you change the amp or effect block to another model.
  19. Try lowering the presence and treble values. I don't like the presence past 50% on almost everything. Certain mic models and cab choices can highlight the pick attack a bit too. The 57 off angle is usually better for making things less harsh. If you're not attached to your pick, try others. Different materials and shapes can drastically change your attack and tone.
  20. If you guys are looking for more loops, spider online has a bunch of the backing track material from spider jam available for free. http://line6.com/spideronline/tracks/
  21. It should be as easy as using the toe click to turn on and control the wah pedal. I don't believe you need to assign anything. Try starting in a new patch, and just click down on the toe switch. I know thats how it works with the bigger FBV. I can't test it myself, but I'm positive it would work the same with the FBV express.
  22. You can set a volume block at the beginning of each path. Assign them both to the same foot switch and bypass one of them. Turn both their positions to 0% (remove the expression pedal controller). Now the foot switch will toggle between the two which effectively mute their path. The biggest benefit of running it this way is that both paths can take advantage of parallel effect routing. The other way you described leaves one side as serial only because of the path 1b-> path 2 routing. (I still do it the other way 95% of the time because thats how I first learned it and I'm stubborn and lazy)
  23. If you're looking at Firehawk you might consider the PodHD500x as well. I think the biggest choice to make between the two is how you set up tones. Firehawk FX uses an smart device App editor for all of its set-up. PodHD has you editing on the unit itself or with a Mac/PC editor. The sounds and I/O on either unit would allow you to run direct on Sundays and use it in the FX loop of your other rig. So to me the bigger factor is what workflow you prefer for dialing in patches.
  24. I spent a good deal of time finding which Redwire and Ownhammer IRs I liked. Im glad I did it as they sound really good to me. The Celestion, Allure, and Sigma packs seem like a blessing in that there are less options to explore, and a lot of people seem to be enjoying them. I think I'd rather have started with these as the RW and OH files can be overwhelming.
  25. Did anyone else see "IRS" and get nervous that tax day is right around the corner?
