You probably need to change the guitar impendance of any single patch because they moved that feature from global settings to patch setting and the default value is "auto". So if you had set a different value in the global settings before, the patches could sound and feel different with the Guitar Inpendance set to auto.

I personall find Redwirez feel better than ownhammer. Ownhammer seem to be "softer" - I don't know how to describe better ;-) But it really depends on the patch and the sound I'm after. I use build in cabs a lot too.

Thanks, I was in the Preset Mode and had to change to the Stop Mode by hitting the Mode footswitch. Therefore I didn't see any changes when dialing the knob 3.
-
I noticed that too, it's missing in the global settings. But you can have it when you hit the "Mode" footswitch.

You may try this to load VST Plugins: http://www.hermannseib.com/vsthost.htm It's a bit older and german language but it works ;-)

They are great indeed. What I like about them is that they feel really good and sound very natural to me. With mixIR2 you can mix your own IRs and export them as a single .wav file. I've created my favorite IRs with that.

Is Variax being discontinued?
Dshow replied to Oyster38N's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
My Korean JTV69 doesn't have that. Build quality is very good. -
There's an idea for that on ideascale: http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Helix-Editor-Clear-Button-for-Presets/815868-23508

I have this too but on mine the pickups are picking up the noise. If I turn away from the screen the nois gets away or at least not that loud.
-
Mmmh, mine does keep the value. I'd really like Line 6 would have kept the global setting option so that per patch we could choose if the Guitar In Impendance should taken from the global adjustment or to adjust it differently on that particular patch. On the HD500 it was like that. I don't know why not keep working things. Also if they did so we wouldn't need to go through every patch and change it now.

The speaker I ordered is the Eminence Beta-12LTA. It's a Full Range Speaker but I didn't find the time to mount it in the mustang.

Can the file that the IR was loaded from be determined?

There are some entries on Ideascale about that. It would be a good idea to vote so that it gets more attention -
Is Variax being discontinued?
Dshow replied to Oyster38N's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I think they continue to buid the Yamaha ones and discontinue the James Tyler. Electronic is the same though. I personally have the feeling that the variax doesn't get much attention. The last firmware update has been a loooong time ago. -
I have the Mustang III V2 too and tried to connect it with the 4 cable method and it sounds really got. I used it with the HD500 too. The only "problem" I have with the Mustang is that the Fender amps sound good but non-Fender amps not that good. This seems also be the case when connecting a modeler. I've already bought another speaker which I will try to change when I have time. Anyway I find this video very helpful:

You can set the offsets to match your prefered tuner.
-
I'd still go quality over quantity. If you honest with yourself how many of the amps you would use? For me it's not more then 5-6 amps and I stick with them. I rather like to have 5-6 amps in top quality as 30 in a OK quality - not saying amps in AX8 are bad, I haven't tried it but just my overall opinion.
-
I had the HD500 for a long time and could get very good tone out of it. Of course I had to learn it initially but then I was pretty fast. I think that helped me with Helix as well. The principle is the same on all modellers. Regarding sound and feel you really have to try it yourself. Nobody can tell you if you like it or not. I'd look for a online shop where you can send it back within 30 days.

Actually I wanted to write July - not June, sorry ;-)
-
I don't expect any big update until the middle of June. Not that I know something about it but if they integrate some major features it takes time and for me middle of June would be the earliest guess.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I had other soundcards too and always had much higher input. Also when recording directly into the daw I was taught I should alwas try to record with the best signal possible without clipping. You can always fade out in the mix. Raising the volume sometimes also adds noise.
-
Yeah, unfortunatley nobody seems to care or nobody else has noticed similar things :-)
-
I use that too most of the time. Especially works great with amp settings on the edge of breaking up. Here's a quick video: https://youtu.be/RJchKith71c
