  2. It's a good idea but it doesn't sound minor to me, maybe if it had of been designed from the start to have this functionality but it wasn't.
  3. ScottAyers - 6 total posts on the forum , all in this thread. Makes you wonder, maybe you could have asked for some help? Or maybe its all about something different.

    Lots of bugs...

The helix is a bit buggy when editing things for me, and the usb audio is also hopeless for me. Playing and selecting presets via the switches it has worked flawlessly though. I wouldn't worry too much.
  5. You can't use the IRs in the Helix for reverbs.
  6. Different pedals have different polarity, some have a switch to change the polarity. If you use a pedal on a device that expects a certain polarity and the polarity of the pedal is reversed then the effect of the pedal will be reversed. The helix allows you to reverse the polarity using min and max, I don't really see how Line 6 could have made the Helix magically understand what polarity the pedal is!
  7. To reverse the pedal can't you just reverse the min/max settings on the controller? So for example for a Wah, long press the Position Knob then change Min to 100% and max to 0%.
  8. As far as I can see there isn't. I wish there was though.
  9. Thanks for the info, I was hoping it was me being thick!
  10. I have had mine for a couple of weeks now and it just gets better, I'm very impressed with mine. There are a few niggles and glitches but I am sure Line 6 will sort these out over time. I have a Kemper as well and the amps in the Helix are very close to as good as the amps in the Kemper, the Helix beats it on every other aspect though. Very impressive piece of kit.
  11. I have to agree with this, the current way of working seems strange unless I am missing something, and I have read the manual a few times but maybe I have missed something :) For instance lets say I have a set of FX on 1A then an amp, 1A feeds to 2A. Now I want to tap the audio from before the amp and feed that to 2B, the only way I can find to do this is to add a muted block to 1B (I use a gain as I guess its the least DSP intensive) and feed 1B to 2B. If I remove this muted block then path 1B disappears. Or am I missing something obvious?
  12. This bug has happened a few times. When on an amp block rotating the joystick right while on the "A30 Fawn Brt" model instead of "Matchstick Ch1" being selected, "Matchstick ch2" is instead. You can clear the issue by pressing the joystick down and then changing the amp model, then the normal selection starts working again. I have a video showing the bug here:
  13. I'm not using 10.11, as I said it doesn't work with 10.10 on two machines.
  14. This is something that would be very usefull.
  15. I'm on 10.10, on two macs the helix USB audio corrupts. I have quite a few other devices that send audio over USB, none of them have any problem at all. So from my perspective this is not an apple problem it is a line 6 problem.
  16. Take your MacBook to the store and connect it via usb and give it a try (you don;t need to install any software or drivers). Test it out for 10 minutes, if you are getting decent audio with no corruption after this time then you will be fine. The USB doesn't work here for me on 10.10, never mind 10.11. Tried on two different Macs.
  17. My guess is it's not so much to do with 10.11 as it doesn't work here on 10.10, just goes to noise every few minutes
  18. If Line 6 built this in it would act like the dual cab, so they need to save the two indexes into the cab IRs (1-128) and the mix volume of each. When the DUAL IR loads up it mixes the two IRs into one IR in its ram, rather than at the moment just loading a single IR into ram. As you say they would be an advantage of having it as an external process as you could mess around with many IRs. Unfortunately there is also a major disadvantage as it is not real time as it could be done in the helix. We loose the ability to load up an amp, load up a dual IR and mess around with different IR's to see how it sounds in the box just like the dual cab.
  19. It is the same size as the largest input. My guess is that the Helix app truncates the audio to 2048 samples when it sends it to the Helix. The helix should be able to do it in the box rather than with an external app. If they added a dual IR block it would only need to "Mix" the two IR's (whenever the user changes the IRs or levels) and then use that data. With FFMPEG you can also set the levels that you want, but it's a bit of a pain! ffmpeg -i IR1.wav -i IR2.wav -filter_complex "[0:a]volume=1.0[a0]; [1:a]volume=0.5[a1]; [a0][a1] amix=inputs=2[out]" -map "[out]" -ac 1 TestCab1.wav That would use full volume for IR1 and half volume for IR2
  20. Same on mine, green box and arrows are perfect synced. I can have the green box on, both arrows on and the guitar is slightly out. at least a couple of cents.
  21. Hi Guys, Here is a little tip for you that use two (or more) IRs in the Helix. IRs can be mixed together, so for example you might have one with a SM57 on the cone edge and another with a R121 on the cap. Instead of using two IR blocks on the Helix you can mix the IRs and then just use one IR block. You can use FFMPEG for this: https://ffmpeg.org An example command line is this: ffmpeg -i IR1.wav -i IR2.wav -filter_complex amix=inputs=2 -ac 1 MixedCab.wav Where IR1.wav and IR2. wav are your cab IRs you want to use. If you want to use more than 2 then keep using -i and changed the inputs= Why Line 6 haven't got this functionality in the helix I don't know!
  22. I have added a couple: More space for IRs: http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/More-space-for-IRs/809273-23508 Passthrough/relative mode for pedal editing: http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Passthrough-Relative-mode-for-pedal-when-editing-patches/808852-23508

    Path A/B

A simple solution is to have a section in the manual explaining each of the Template presets. I also agree, the manual is pretty poor and I'm a fairly technical sort of guy!
  24. As far as I can see the Helix comes with no IRs at all. Also the presets downloaded do not contain IRs. So you have two choices: 1. Get some IR's from somewhere, load them into your Helix and edit the presets IR to point to the one you want to use. 2. Replace the IR with a Cab in the preset.
  25. If drop tuning is important to you I would try a Helix first if I was you. I think the Pitch FX units in the Helix sound absolutely terrible.
