roll off the tone on the guitar is definitely step 1, but in my experience, this doesn't work convincingly at all. Never has, never will.
-
There are no new amps in 2.5, though. New HX verbs is all they've announced, and those who have heard them like them very very much.
-
The beta of 2.4 burned down Phil's house and made my dog cry, so they're going straight to 2.5.
-
Are you running a patch that has a cab sim or IR into your guitar amp? That would sound bad. Sorry, but Helix doesn't sound "terrible" to very many people. Something sounds wrong in your chain.

Yup... but... VERY important caveat. When you are recording from your Helix input to a bare track in your DAW in order to use Helix Native, DO NOT NORMALIZE THE RAW GUITAR! It will really mess up your sound.

Whirlwind IMP2 is a GREAT choice. Very affordable, transparent, and insanely rugged. I have 3 that are literally 40 years old.
-
It really doesn't matter which way you go if it works in your environment. I make my 1/4" to DI to XLR to Board because of the reasons I mention, but if I were in the studio, I'd either use a digital connection to the recorder via USB or SBDIF/AES or I'd use XLR to the mixer if the engineer made me, because you have time to control things in the studio. Live, often, you don't.
-
PLUS... that DI will feed the sound guy a signal that won’t be affected by impedance/level/phantom power issues. And it will sound great.
-
btw, this is hard to test, as if you hold that button too long, it goes to tuner mode... how will you test?

yeah, I can't say anything, but sometimes that information is in the user's signature...

Why does Sean use three fx loops for a stereo pedal in this video?
PeterHamm replied to StruckingFuggle's topic in Helix
Or not. Because if you use Sends and Returns instead of Loops, the inputs and outputs are really completely independent. NO need for send 1 to come back return 1 at all... -
Easy to try, or use a send from Helix to go to that input. Not real familiar with L2t, sorry.
-
The guy in charge said it's coming directly, so we know it is. We don't know what is in the update for certain except for 5 brand new built-from the ground up HX reverbs in both stereo and mono. We know it's coming. It's coming. Rejoice and be glad.

If you are addressing them separately it really doesn’t matter. Probably just had something else connected to those other send/returns or something. -
Get some acoustic guitar IR that are out there, some for free, but the best for a very small price from 3 Sigma. Those, plus some comp/eq and maybe the Studio Tube Pre, are way better than any of the acoustic effects they've had in anything before... ever...
-
I think that's speculation. Helix's tap tempo works the same as every device I've ever had with it.
-
Man, I would NOT try it.
-
I seem to remember the HD 500 manual joking that you can tap as many times as you want, but the unit picked up the last two. Not sure about previous units.
-
One very strange but constant issue I have with firmware updates is that occasionally that parameter spontaneously switches from b.p.m. back to ms. weird, but common.
-
Laugh if you will, but we are talking about playing music in a noisy environment that people hear just a bit of, for the most part, as they pass by.
-
They are not rumors. They have officially announced that there are 5 totally new HX verbs coming to Helix in 2018. That said, the Big Sky (and H9) is really really cool... so...
-
Those who are having issues with tap tempo... which iteration of Helix? LT? Floor? Rack? Please share.
-
Overkill for busking, dude.
-
If someone has spent a lot of time and effort on IR from 3rd parties, there is not a lot of incentive to not say that they are way way better. Confirmation bias at its very best.

Press the Menu button (3 lines, second from left on top). Press "Global Settings" go to "Ins/Outs" Page 3 (in v2.30), 3rd knob from the left adjusts Volume Knob controls. Options are Multi, 1/4"+XLR, 1/4", XLR, Digital.
