    Tuner

If other tuners are more stable, btw, that can also be an indicator that Helix is more accurate, maybe too accurate... jus' sayin'...
  2. I suppose it's possible, but the manual says nothing about it, and of course, they don't come with that box that came with the old ones. You might want to call and ask.
  3. I don't believe so. That required that extra box on the floor which is no longer a thing with JTV and Standard. I could be wrong, but I don't think that there is a TRS jack on the newer Variaxes and I KNOW there is not a TRS guitar input on any Helix product.

    Overwhelmed

Honestly, if you just sit down with Helix and the Quick Start guide (the card that came in the box) and build a few patches from scratch using only that, within a few hours you'll know more about how to get the most out of the unit than you ever will watching somebody else do it on youtube. That was my technique, and within a day I knew what I needed, within a few days I never needed to look at the manual again, and within a few weeks probably became as much an expert as anybody can with this thing.
  5. There is no way to power Variax from HX Effects. Variax can only be powered from devices that feature a VDI jack.
  6. I think it’s confirmation bias. I have done rough comparisons of tracks recorded before and after a number of updates and I don’t think the modeling changes its sound really at all.
  7. Are you trying to get to them through the front panel of Helix or through the Editor. If the front panel, re-install firmware. Something is wrong. If the Editor, de-install whatever editor you have and re-install HX Edit, the very latest version.
  8. imho, there are only two to consider. Turbo Tuner (latest model) or StroboStomp 2. My StroboStomp 2 is the only thing I'd ever use for intonation.
  9. Honestly, Native is the answer to this. Monitor through Helix, record a dry track, re-amp internally with Native with the same patch.
  10. It could be. There are NO TRS jacks for audio on Helix. None. so using TRS cables is possibly funking up your signal.
  11. You are talking about such different uses. Alto is the cheapest FRFR you can buy. Expecting it to be on the level of Helix in terms of quality,,,? Nope. Good enough? Maybe. But ANY FRFR stage monitor style speaker is going to suck at home listening levels compared to studio monitors and studio monitors are useless on the gig. And FRFR and PA speakers suck for listening to music at home.
  12. It can still be used as an on-switch or to change any parameter you wish. Still useful to many people.
  13. The easy solution has always been to hook up an external EXP (or two)...

    Boot time?

Just tested. Mine is even longer 20.08 seconds. Rack, latest firmware 2.53. If you have to restart on a gig, it's a big deal. And I find it a bit long to be honest.
  15. might depend on the unit, too. I've literally been hot-plugging my condenser mic in for over 2 years with my rack. No issues.
  16. It's there. It's Native 1.50 not 2.50.
  17. A new version of Native with all that stuff is, I believe, already released at line6.com. You have to scroll down a bit through the 2.5 announcements. For some reason the Native update is further down.
  18. 1. I think that the only way that will provide acceptable results is to use a mic pre (even an old Mackie 1202 mixer would do the trick). 4. with the right IR, you can do acoustic simulation that's awesome now. If this is super important to you, I suggest you invest in a PowerBridge for a guitar and see your life change. (Video below). 5. Touch screen is something they tested when they were designing it and determined it actually didn't make things easier. I don't think you'll see it. It's, honestly, a gimmick on the vastly inferior Headrush. 6. I don't think it'll be useful that way, the bass player needs to know I'm going to D BEFORE I do. I hope you enjoy your Helix journey! here's your acoustic from electric video.
  19. I think some folks might have been hard on this list, but I'd like to address it, too. Not all your ideas are so "horrible" 1. Helix is not designed to mix your whole band. It just isn't. Get a mixer. More than one XLR in would add cost that would not be worth it to a VAST majority of users. 2. I think this is a fantastic idea that I hope will make it into the box, really. I don't want it personally, but think that a LOT of people do. Find it on idea scale and vote it up. 3. I'm not sure how this would be accomplished, but it's another cool idea. 4. This is really do-able with some third-party IR from 3 Sigma now, so I think maybe it would be possible to make into a cab-style block in Helix. 5. Sorry, you lost me here. It's ridiculously easy to use now. Can't imagine how it could be easier without being less sophisticated and capable. 6. Not sure how easy or hard this is, but that is kinda cool. Logic Pro does this with MIDI data, I think it's probably possible with note data derived from audio. But I don't know how many actually want or need this. 7. This is not something I think should be in a pro-level box. That's, no offense, a very "amateur" feature.
  20. OP bailed, I think, maybe realizing that his plan needed altering, and that his solution was simple.
  21. In the meantime, what program are you running? And why are you stuck at Windows 7? How old is the computer?
  22. I don't think anybody using any of these boxes expects their tuners to compete with a TT or Strobostomp, though. And for guys who must have an amp, only an amp will do... that's true. But... again... I'm on the list of people who have no problem whatsoever with the tuner and don't even get my StroboStomp out anymore, so what do I know...
