You might want to increase your buffer. That sounds like it to me, but I use a different DAW.
-
In the editor, if you find yourself in this position, simply switch to the actual unit, press the save button, change the destination. Done. But... that functionality in the editor would be sweet. Who knows. They are re-vamping the editor very soon they say. This update? I can't remember, I think they said that the editor was changing a lot in this next update.
-
They have hinted that this is not in the cards, but... obviously the hardware could do it, since there is a mic input on Helix. So, ya never know, right...?
-
I understand the question perfectly, and I think, actually, based on my many years (decades in fact) of experience recording digitally direct to a computer hard drive yes... understood the reasons why it won't happen pretty well, too... and... 1. You didn't, I think, think through the ramifications of why an FX send and return is most likely not going to be something easily implemented in Helix Native. In addition to the reasons I gave, you would have to have that interface and those FX hooked up every time you ran that plug in on that song or MainStage instrument or what have you. Unlikely to happen in way too many scenarios, and likely to simply cause frustration. There is no way for Helix Native to know if you have your hardware configuration (including external FX) the way it was when you recorded for what you meant. If that makes any sense. (bottom line... FX loops in Helix Native are inactive because they make no sense in that particular scenario whatsoever, not because they are "disabled" until the right interface comes along.) and... 2. There is a reason, perhaps, that your feedback reputation on this forum is so far in the red. You took offense needlessly and lashed out in a manner that some might find, to borrow a term, "sophomoric". I don't believe I've ever levied a personal attack or insult towards you, sir. I'd appreciate the same consideration.
-
Actually an interface that has FX loops exists. It's called Helix. This feature would be very problematic to implement in any case as audio is going out and back in within a plug-in. I doubt we'll see it.

I trust those tools, in the right hands, to EQ the room. I trust my ears to take care of my tone. Imho, EQing the room is never going to be done right in a device like Helix. There are other tools for that, part of the FoH system.
-
I suppose you could do this. I never would. I'd use my ears and tweak to the room in the context of the band if I had time. If you do this, and it works well, we want to hear about it.
-
Yeah, but the room probably sounds so bad anyway...
-
If you are shaping your sound though, do that in the patch. Then your global EQ is on standby for the the bad sound guy or bad room. Honestly, I know people use it to shape their sound, but that's just wrong thinking imho. You put EQ in the patch for that. If you use Global EQ to shape your sound, what happens if patch 1A needs to use a different setting than 2C? Do it in the patch and you fix that. Logically it makes zero sense to use global for any sound shaping whatsoever. It is seriously designed to fix whatever room you walk into. I'm interested in other ways people use it, too, but using it to shape your tone is ultimately not the best plan. It just never is. The technique you mention is not bad. And if you're in the same room all the time... by all means, do this technique, but write down the settings and do them in the patch. Don't ring out your room in Helix. Do that at the sound board...

Right, you just ignore that jack. I wouldn't sweat it if it is the same price.
-
I'm thrilled I could help. Remember with the new auto-engage feature, the foot switch is no longer needed and you can have all 3 EXPs activate different FX when they lift off zero if you want...
-
The only way for the foot switch to work is for you to connect the extra jack for "foot switch" on the pedal (there are two TS jacks, not one TS or TRS) to the "foot switch" jack on the unit. That jack only exists on Helix Rack. So... that pedal with the built-in foot switch for Helix only works with Helix Rack, and you can only use ONE with Helix Rack.
-
You can't use the toe switch on the external pedal with the floor model. In short, you can only have ONE toe switch. On the floor (or LT) it's built-in to the EXP, on the Rack, you can use the one you reference. Now that you can actually auto-engage the effect, you no longer need a toe switch to get one-stomp functionality, though.
-
Yes, I could see that as very useful for a LOT of folks...
-
I would not, but maybe others would. I have a directory for my IR, and they are all renamed with the first 3 digits being the number location that they go in. Then when I have to re-set the unit after a firmware update it only takes a few seconds to restore.

Whirlwind Imp2. The ones I use are literally 40 years old, that is how solid these are.
-
imho, you're doing the sound guy's job. Don't bother. Let him do it. Make your signal sound great with the band, leave the finessing to someone else so you can play... if possible... If there is no sound guy, it's probably a noisy dirty club... and in that case, I think you're just over-thinking' it.
-
FIrst, why Stereo? If you are the only guitarist in a power trio, stereo works well. If you have another guitarist or keyboardist or both, stereo will make your sound so "big" that the sound guy ends up turning it down so you don't get heard. Mono is better in a LOT of situations. When I'm the only guitarist I run stereo if I can (and also if the room is good for stereo. Most aren't!) otherwise MONO is king. Often the sound system is mono anyway (or should be). Now... here's what I do. Run XLR L/Mono out to my on-stage monitor and control that volume with the big volume control on Helix. Run 1/4" to a DI (or two, if Stereo) to the house. Why? Because the 1/4" sounds just as good through a good DI as the XLR does, and if you don't know the sound system or sound guy, he doesn't have to worry about level and impedance issues and it doesn't matter if phantom power is on. Less for the sound guy to think about to make your connection work means more for the sound guy to think about to make your band sound boss.
-
Try zero. You might be surprised. I no longer use reverb when playing live unless it's a special effect. Never to "add ambiance", since the room has plenty.
-
The biggest one (you got a good FRFR that should last a long time) is to always tweak patches at Gig volume if possible. Otherwise Fletcher Munson will insure that your patches sound weird when you turn up. Also, some tweaking has to be done with the band. It's just physics. Rock safely!

Global Settings: MIDI/Tempo: Page 2. MIDI over USB on or off. MIDI PC Receive: off, MIDI, USB, MIDI + USB MIDI PC Send: Off, MIDI, USB, MIDI + USB Might be your answer there.
-
Firing up the old editor is the way.
-
Helix Native has no FX send and receive functionality tho. You’d have to do multiple instances.

Scribble strips blank on start up - Anybody else have this problem?

Have you re-flashed the firmware? Might solve it. -
So. Much YES!
