  1. What the did was they modeled a tube that was defective by accident... and the defect ended up in the amp model. HAH!
  2. Yes. It's easy. You can select a different input and output in your DAW with no problem, or with MainStage. What I do NOT think you can do is just play the helix through the Mac running no software and have the sound go out some other device.
  3. CV, I am pretty sure no. But MIDI sync is now possible. out or in.
  4. The difference is subtle, imho, but it's there.
  5. but no fiddle connections or crash prone OS or delicate laptop stuff
  6. I've done it. Get past 2 amps and it all became mush for me.
  7. All reasons why I don't generally use a computer live... for anything... sometimes for MainStage sounds from a keyboard, but not even that very often. Hardware is king for live use.
  8. My stuff (article in my signature) is more for electric and acoustic at the same time. But... if I was using a dual source acoustic (great idea, wish I had one), I'd probably put them through two different IR, pan slightly left and right, add a few ms of delay to one side, add a vintage tube pre right after, then compression and eq, and eq them differently, maybe even do a crossover type of deal. But no amp model, for sure.
  9. The full functionality of Helix with its loops and foot switch functionality and stuff is really awesome, though, and you won't have that with z=Native.
  10. IEMs like the 215 work a little differently from headphones, and behave a little more like speakers. That's how it was explained to me when I noticed I could tweak to them and get closer than conventional headphones.
  11. I know people poo poo them because they are single-drive, but my experience with them has been fantastic.
  12. I continue to think that using two different instrumentalists through one piece of gear will be ultimately frustrating and make it so you're distracted from the music because of the complexity of the gear situation. I think doing SO much inside Helix is going to be a pain in the neck... Might be simpler ways to do it that work just as well...
  13. You can have the same EXP control a BUNCH of parameters, so this is no problem whatsoever.
  14. Yes, they would stay that way until you change them. Make sure the PA does NOT have phantom power on your channel or the sound will be awful. VERY important.
  15. There's no really great way to do this. I think some XLR to 1/4" mono cables should work. GC or your local MI store should have 'em in stock.
  16. Even if you can, the level of difficulty and frustration involved would be unnecessary. Don't. The seamless way Control and Rack work together... you really should get Control if you are going to want to control the Rack. You really and truly should.
  17. There may not be a non-hub port on your computer. Here's one thing I'd try. Can you plug Helix into a POWERED USB hub and then into your computer. Sometimes that solves it.
  18. I don't think you need a preamp. I have two guitars with passive piezo bridges I use with Helix through a return. They work fantastic, straight in. My acoustic guitar preamp gets no love anymore, just sits in the case.
  19. Old SKB 4-space rack. Too deep, but I store cables and a couple pedals back there, so it's just fine.
  20. I have no tuning anomalies at all with Helix tuner. Polytune is so sweet though that if you have it, just use it.
  21. It'll probably need its own path, which is possible, leave phantom power in Helix off, and global mic input gain will need to be around 24 db or higher. It will work great
  22. And it is SO easy. First... Start with a blank screen that has only stomps, no presets or snapshots (unless you want to change presets or snapshots, then use one of those options. use the joystick to navigate the block you want assigned to, say, stomp 1. Now, lightly tough (do not press) stomp 1 with your finger. Hit OK. You're done. Repeat as needed.
  23. There is a wall with Helix, and you, sir, may have just hit it! You'll have to change that cable, then you might be just fine.
