  1. My main guitar is hum buckers, but with a single coil split for each combo, and I even like that one with the pad on. My other guitar is hum-cancelling singles.
  2. And... this is why I edit barefoot now.
  3. Sounds like you're set! Tell us how it goes.
  4. These aren't modeler-specfic issues. Lower that neck pickup... a lot... that will help. I have learned that all my tones sound best with the input pad ON. (I think it's like plugging into input 2 on most classic fender amps.
  5. Get there early enough to know that your sound is good through the PA and leave it flat.
  6. Current 2.0 manual, p. 7, 25 and 26. It's clear it sums to mono.
  7. Dude, if YOU are wrong about this... I just can't... go...ON>>>>>>>>
  8. According to the manual, it is in fact only the Left output. I've never tested it, but Phil M is really... never wrong... so... maybe...
  9. Almost got a Duo Tone once. Awesome guitar. Crowdster is another level, but for the price, it should be.
  10. Dude, there is some AMAZING stuff you can do on the piezo side with IR and stuff... have you checked it out? I play two-voice as well. https://pietrosquared.wordpress.com/helix-2-voice-guitar/
  11. Also true. I don't even listen to most shootouts anymore. A few months back, I had a get-together at the church I worked at where a couple of us with Helices (one with a Variax JTV) and one guy with an AX8 got together to compare. We all agreed we wanted both...
  12. What kind of FX? I would think the interface would frustrate a DJ. I have no idea what kind of stuff they'd use.

    Helix Effects

Thanks. I add a POG2 in one loop and a Mel9 in the other. If I could swing it, I might add an H9 or BigSky in a third loop, but don't have the cash for that.

    Helix Effects

A lot of those WOW verbs like you mention are really really involved and awesome, and yes, at this time you may find it hard to get that in Helix. May I suggest stacking verbs, though. Cave + Particle, or Octo + Particle can give you some pretty amazing stuff. I believe they may start adding some new special FX verb at some point. They've been working hard on Native, but v1.0 is essentially completed with just a little more testing.
  15. GOOD news for the OP! I hope there's enough people who want this that he gets it!
  16. ...although... HD 500/400/300/Bean/Pro were also new from the ground up. There was zero correlation between them and previous models. In Helix, there are SOME FX models that have been ported from HD500/M13 series. There was not one single stitch of ANYTHING in HD 500 that came from X3. HD 500 had all new amp modeling and instead of the previous X3/XT FX, featured the M-series FX. So... this is not the first time they've created something totally new.
  17. But... to get the most out of amp sims in Helix, you want a guitar connected to the input. Other signal paths will work, but the amp models will not behave just like amp models. There is a reason that they put really sophisticated input circuitry on Helix, so that it would work just right with a guitar connected, so the pickups would be "loaded" properly, so that the tone would be amp-like. If you do it the way you describe, it will not happen that way imho.
  18. compression after all drives and after amp will mean that your volume control on your guitar will stay super responsive. Compression first will mean that you have way less control over how much gain and dirt you have. Fuzz must always be first to work correctly the way most people use it. I prefer my verbs (except spring) after my amp. I also prefer my delays after all dirt and gain, but sometimes put it before for a different kind of effect. There are no rules, and yet I find myself following most of the generally accepted conventions most of the time.
  19. Gotcha, it's all good. That said, I'm reasonably sure this is a physical limitation, not a software one.
  20. Rack/Control beta tester here. They are aware of it, because I've experienced it and have been in a very productive back-and-forth on it. I have also made them aware of this thread so they can see what all y'all are experiencing.
  21. When you get to a certain number of choices, it's impossible for the brain to sort out...
  22. The good news is, your understanding of what Helix is is completely incorrect, as others have pointed out. The way that Helix operates, the way it responds to your guitar, the way the amp models work, is far far more amp-like than any to the others. I've used every generation of POD, and can attest to the USER experience being completely different. There is zero POD HD technology from POD HD in Helix and the OS has no connection to Firehawk whatsoever. It is truly new from the ground up.
  23. Goodness, yes. This is LITERALLY putting a Helix inside your DAW.

    Power of helix?

This is, no lie, a typical patch for me.
