We're talking about input/output levels and you're talking about adding a modulation effect. It's a little like, "No I don't walk to work, I carry my lunch". Your suggestion is totally disconnected from the actual problem seeking a solution.
-
You do realize that this doesn't make a difference in terms of fixing input/output levels, right? It looks like you think that it does.
-
Is the guitar plugged into Scarlet with the Line/Inst switch set to Inst? That might be the problem.

You did WHAT? Dude, speaker outputs only ever get hooked up to speakers. You broke something, sir. That speaker output fried your Helix.
-
That's so odd. I have a mid 21 13" MBP, and had no issues with Mavericks, Yosemite or Sierra with my Helix Rack.
-
I just want to add an answer to no. 1 and 3. 1. the verbs in Helix work very well in the house and in the mix. I like stacking a couple for special FX, and I like the spring verbs a lot. 3. Helix responds to my picking dynamics as well as any amps I've owned, and that was a lot of amps.

SO you are tracking with two different sounds coming from your JTV? I do something similar, and find that two instances of Native (Mono -> Stereo) on two tracks works best. But what you describe will work I think.
-
I think the input is mono. So you should make separate instances.

Why won't it run on the Mac? Actually, shouldn't it run on any of those systems? Why won't it? What DAW are you using?
-
It is available right this moment. Go get it.
-
Depending on which Mac you have, you should go all the way to Sierra.
-
Yeah, this. It doesn't pass audio, if it did, they'd have leveraged that by now.
-
Yes, I am... sorry...

The waiting is the hardest part.

He loves doing that $#!†.

You will always need a translator from VDI to whatever the device or computer needs. Currently, the only translation is possible through Line 6 hardware. So any Variax "compatibility" in Native will be tied to Line 6 hardware of some kind. And I think that the adaptor for computer connection is not designed for this. So something in the future, hardware-wise, will be necessary if this ever happens. Whether that happens... depends on many things, but I think this desire might be a small enough niche that it won't happen anytime soon.

yeah, and Helix's relatively brand new modeling technology will almost certainly destroy JMP1's 25-year-old tech.
-
If I were you, I'd put the JMP-1 aside, try the amp preamps that are in Helix, and then when you find out they work better you can sell the JMP or put it in storage.
-
There is no provision at this time for this. Although they've mentioned they are looking at adding Control capability to Native, it is not available at launch and not promised at this point. The editor for Helix is already available, and they are planning on making it look like Native... but... Native is NOT an editor for the floor unit. It has no connection to it other than whatever audio might be coming in from it if you use Helix as an interface.

You are not getting rid of data. You are not losing anything. You are converting it. That is a BIG difference. In theory, a well recorded song with all 24 bit/96K tracks that is then dithered/converted to CD sample rate will sound better than if you record everything at 16-bit. Also, if you are recording at the higher sampling rate and then apply compression and EQ for mastering, the compressor and EQ have more data to deal with and your final output might be better sounding. It might even be noticeable. This is also why when editing video for the web, I shoot everything at 1080, even if it's going to end up at 720. I don't lose by shooting higher and then going down to the 720, but I do gain flexibility in a number of ways. Audio is similar. When you are loading an IR, you will probably never notice the difference between one that has been converted and one that hasn't, but I think you're right. I generally use the right one just to be sure.

Give us more info (Go to "About this Mac" under the Apple and tell us what it says there) and we can help you.
-
Anything that can "only be done in the Registry" or, on Mac only in Terminal, makes me laugh. It's freakin' 2017 and you are making me do command line? Some of us just want to use computers, not program them.
-
HA. (Interestingly enough, Macs still support the older 32-bit apps. But that's going away in a couple years.
-
T This doesn't always work from what I understand, and it also is not available in the non-pro version, correct?

El Crapitan anyone??? Big Mac fan here, but I think that was the one that made half my friends no longer able to print for weeks.
