  1. There's no all-in-one compendium of everything Helix. This will provide a lot that the existing Helix websites don't cover: Sweetwater Publishing The Big Book of Helix Tips & Tricks v1.1 by Craig Anderton
  2. When you have a PRESET that has multiple SNAPSHOTS, you can Rename the SNAPSHOTS. In HX Edit, right-click on the Snapshot, select Rename and have at it. Don't forget to SAVE. The procedure on the device itself varies with the device, which you didn't specify.
  3. If you split a mono signal it's not stereo, it's dual mono.
  4. If by "flash" icon you mean the lightning bolt icons in the top row, those are properly called "Instant Commands". Instant Commands (ICs) run AUTOMATICALLY when the preset first loads and on every snapshot change. There's no special switch, after the preset loads they send on snapshot change. Once you've assigned a command (for instance, CC#3 Value 127) to an IC (IC#1 for this example), you must then declare the command details for IC#1 in EVERY Snapshot, else Helix assigns a default value. In this case the default value would be CC#0 Value 0. If you declare the same commands in every snapshot, Helix will NOT re-send the command on every snapshot change. The command will ONLY be re-sent if a snapshot is configured to send a DIFFERENT command on THAT IC. For example - IC#1 is assigned to send CC#3 Value 127 on EVERY snapshot EXCEPT Snapshot4, which sends CC#3 with a Value of 0. Assuming that the preset has been saved with Snapshot1 as default, CC#3 Value 127 will be sent when the preset loads. It will not be sent again UNLESS you switch to Snapshot4 which will send CC#3 Value 0. Switching to any other snapshot FROM Snapshot4 will again send CC#3 Value 127. Once a command TYPE (PC,CC, etc) is assigned to an IC, that IC can ONLY send THAT command TYPE. IOW - If IC#1 is assigned to send CC, it sends CC in EVERY snapshot. There are 6 ICs so that you can instantly send 6 different commands, custom to each snapshot, each following the rules explained above. Questions?
  5. Depends on the preset. Sometimes just the Output Block level, sometimes something like you described.
  6. Levelling presets is an onerous and time-consuming task that we all must deal with, and there's no "one-size-fits-all" method. How you do it depends on the method you've used to create the dual cab preset. Not all cabs/IRs output at the same level. Different mics might appear louder depending upon how they cut in the mix. If using separate cabs in parallel you can cut the output of each path at the MIX point, or at the individual cabs. If using a dual cab block you can cut the output of each individual cab. You'll likely find that the method you use varies depending on the other FX in the path, especially when you use FX after the cabs. Finally, you can cut the total output level of the preset at the Output Block. I use the previous methods to get the preset right, then I use the Output Block Level as a finisher to match the levels between presets. This can also be done with a Stereo Gain Block or EQ placed just before the Output Block. Any of these three "finishers" can also be used to implement a "Clean Solo Boost". Everybody has their own favorite method of levelling presets, these are just mine. Have Fun!
  7. Per the "rule" I described, it works the same for Program Change as Control messages. Copy the IC that sends the PC# to the same IC in every Snapshot. It will send once when the preset loads. You can use other ICs for other messages if you like, just remember the rule.
  8. Gotcha, no worries. I might've been a bit cranky last night.
  9. The Instant Commands are going to be sent on every SS change. WHAT they send depends on the IC settings for the SS that was changed. Once an IC has sent a specific message, it won't send that message again until that IC has sent a DIFFERENT message from another SS. IOW - If you send CC#1 on IC#1 in SS1 and DON"T want to send anything on IC#1 in SS2 (it defaults to CC#0), set IC#1 in SS2 to CC#1. How does that relate to your question? I don't know. Perhaps if you explained what you are trying to do (or not do)?
  10. I've had Helix for going on 6 years, and HX Stomp for 3 years. I've never had this happen. I can't comment as to "likelihood", but it's a computer. Rule #1 applies: "Back up early! Back up often!"
  11. You're splitting hairs. You know exactly what OP asked for. Remember that it was me who provided a demo preset to show OP the "modern" way. Which, when talking "bluesy", is a lot more work than just turning down the volume pot like blues artists have been doing forever. That was the point @CraigGTwas making. Also, I made a joke related to defending traditional methods, and you turned it into a mean-spirited ageist dig. Maybe you didn't mean it that way, but that's the way it comes across.
  12. And one of those circumstances, the most common and traditional of those circumstances, is BLUES. Which is EXACTLY what OP asked for! He didn't ASK for "more modern expectations"! Now y'all can take your "modern" agenda and GET OFF MY LAWN! ;-)
  13. Also, you'll likely need to experiment with the limits of the range on both settings.
  14. Assign the exp pedal to drive and either MASTER or CHANNEL VOLUME. In the Bypass/Controller Assign pane of HX Edit, reverse the MIN/MAX settings for the MASTER or CHANNEL VOLUME. Demo Preset attached. claudeu.hlx
  15. If a Block is assigned, the DSP is in use whether or not the Block is active.
  16. Is HXFX itself updated? If you open the folder in Windows Explorer (NOT through HX Edit) are the IRs there? Did you buy these on the Marketplace?

    midi clock noise

While you're waiting for a response from someone who knows what they're talking about, a couple of wild guesses - Have you RTM for the midibox? Is MIDI Clock Send enabled, Receive disabled? Are you looping back to Helix from the midibox out/thru? Have you tried reversing the tip/ring assignments on the midibox outs one at a time (RTM for the external gear)? Is one of your external devices sending a "click" (as in a click track)? Have you contacted Morningstar support or asked on their forum? ????? I'm an old-school believer in the KISS theory, so Tap Tempo is not something I frequently mess with. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable will jump in.
  18. Change Global Settings>Preferences>Preset Numbering from 01A-32D to 000-127. That changes the display from Helix Bank numbering to MIDI PC numbering.
  19. Nobody from L6 hangs out here, just us unpaid wannabe support dweebs :-) . Open a support ticket to get their attention. The guys at L6 support mean well, but when they're wrong about something they need to be told. As I said over on TGP (more or less), Apples are Apples, but Androids come in many flavors.
  20. In Global Settings>MIDI/Tap locate the setting MIDI PC SEND. When this is set to ON the MIDI PC# corresponding to the Helix Preset is automatically sent. If You're using PC#s from Command Center to control your Katana, turn that Global Setting OFF.
  21. Catalyst has a specially designed GUITAR speaker in an open back GUITAR cab. It is NOT an "FRFR" speaker or cab. The Catalyst amps are not voiced for the speaker and cab. The speaker and cab are voiced for the amps. That said, an IR or modeled speaker cab is essentially a type of tone control. An EQ. Try it. It won't hurt anything. There's only one real rule when it comes to getting good tone from a modeler. If it SOUNDS good, it IS good!
  22. It isn't automatic. The real question is - WHY NOT?!? IT'S 2022 not 1985!!!
  23. You're getting that message because you're not on v3.15. Click the ? in the lower left corner, then ABOUT. That will show you BOTH the Helix version AND the HX Edit version.
