IIRC, this means that you have a corrupted preset. If you saved the individual presets in your setlists (this is one reason why that's a good idea), you can try importing them 10 at a time till you narrow it down to the bad one, then delete it and continue.

Since the first ageist insult was aimed at me (the millennial comment), I'd like to point out that I DROVE to the FIRST Woodstock. That "My Generation" spent a great deal of time demonizing the OLDER generation (don't trust anyone over 30), and that our ideals were eventually betrayed by the very people we marched with. "Their beards have all grown longer now." No generation has a monopoly on ignorance. When I identified myself as a snowflake, THAT was a joke. I'm sure that no actual snowflakes were offended. When OP identified other posters as fascists, brown nosers and nancys, those were insults. Vague regrets are meaningless. Sincere apologies are always considered. My first post in this thread was intended as good natured chiding. If OP was offended, I sincerely apologize. Perhaps we're both guilty as to where this thread has gone. NOTE TO MOD: This forum REALLY NEEDS EMOTICONS! :-)

nan·cy /ˈnansē/ INFORMAL•OFFENSIVE noun noun: nancy boy an effeminate or homosexual man. ----------------------------------------------------------- And sexist too!

I know, I said I was "outta here". But this thread is like a trainwreck, I just can't look away! You've made it abundantly clear that you don't care about anybody's needs but your own, that everyone else's opinions are BS, that we're all a bunch of fascists and fanboys, and that you couldn't care less about our feelings. Is it really any wonder that most of our reactions are negative? I get it. You're not a very nice person. PLEASE GO AWAY! Sincerely, Fascist snowflake fanboy

It's all been said before! OP's thread from 2016: Where are the amps?!? - aka, beating a dead horse And the horse is still dead. Doubling down on my first post in this thread. I'm outta here! Sincerely, Proud childish, fascist Fanboy

Gotcha! Hope you go through with getting an LT. There's a learning curve, for sure, and if you need help or advice, there are many here who'll be happy to step up. And don't forget TGP. Good Luck!

At various times, just about everyone who has objected to OP's post (including me) has expressed some opinion about what we think L6 SHOULD do to improve the product. There's a difference between an opinion and an attack. I think that what some people don't recognize is that this is a forum that is mostly populated by Helix OWNERS who are quite happy with the product. We come here to discuss the product. It's kind of a "social media" site for us, and a place where we can ask EACH OTHER about how we use the product, what we like and don't like, and workarounds we've discovered. It's NOT where L6 reps hang out. If you would like to speak directly to L6 reps, there's a HUGE thread over on TGP where you can get quick responses from the designers. The BIG BOSS, Frank Richotte (hope I spelled it right) constantly monitors that thread and responds to customer service issues, and Digital Igloo and others respond to more technical and usability questions. I know of NO OTHER modeling product with that degree of personal involvement by upper management. It's not so much that we object to negative opinions. But if you come here and INSULT a product we use and the company that supports us, you should EXPECT a reaction. When you then turn around and call us FANBOYS and BROWN NOSERS, now you're making it personal. That says more about YOU than US. BUY the product. USE it. Have a problem? We'll be happy to help, even if it's obvious that you didn't read the manual, WHICH NEEDS TO BE UPDATED (we've been told that'll happen with v3). If no one here can help, try TGP. CALL SUPPORT! A HUMAN will answer the phone. But don't come here and get all nasty, and expect a different reaction than you'd get if you behaved like that in the real world!

Priorities... I can dig it! So, if I understand you, You've changed your mind about Helix being overpriced - "wow..too steep for me too...I am sure it will be nice...competes with the axe products and kemper....i could sell a bunch of stuff to fund it but dont want to ride that train anymore..if was was around $799 i would consider it if i tried it first and it was amazing compared to what i use now.." And even though Helix still doesn't blow up your skirt, If all your current modelers, which you're still happy with, suddenly died, you'd spend $1500 for a Helix rather than replace the stuff you're happy with?

I've been using digital modelers for 15 years. You name it, I've tried it. I've had dealings with all of their support departments. Well, those that even HAVE support departments. Line6 is one of the very few that REALLY DOES CARE about it's users. As has been mentioned, they don't OWE us ANYTHING new. If all they cared about was our money, they wouldn't have had to add ANYTHING. Yet, I've lost count of the extras they've given us. And if either of you spent any time over on TGP, you'd also know that they've got the BEST support crew in the business. I don't get fanboys either. I DO get loyalty to a company that's EARNED it. Another thing I don't get - you own a TESLA and you're worried about $1500 for a modeler??!??!?? I should have such problems!
-
WHEW! For a minute there you had us worried! ;)

Go over to TGP. Read the MANY posts by L6 representatives announcing ahead of time that this update would be primarily CORE TECHNOLOGY improvements (AND the usual bug fixes), laying the groundwork for good stuff to come. AND then they threw in a much improved tuner. Your entitlement attitude is what has prompted all the negative responses, NOT fanboy-ism! L6 OWES us NOTHING other than bug fixes! Everything they've added since the first release has been icing on the cake. To state that appreciation and acknowledgement of that FACT is BS is insulting to everyone here. Your criticism is NOT warranted.

WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH! Someone give the baby a lolli.......keep it quiet till the update that takes advantage of all the "under the covers" work in this update that lays the groundwork for the bigger and better things to come. PATIENCE, YE OF LITTLE FAITH! "I don't care! I want a new amp!" WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH! Sigh........

Adding External Volume Pedal to Effects Loop 2 in HX
rd2rk replied to marcusanderson's topic in Helix
Put it in the loop between yours amp's fx send and the Helix return. That way you can fade out the amp without affecting the delays/reverbs. OR put it between the Helix 1/4" out and your amp's fx return, which will fade everything. Don't be surprised if it adds noise to your signal. That might indicate that the Mission Engineering Expression pedal (made for Helix) with a Volume Block is a better choice than the Dunlop. -
For instance: XLR to mixer, 1/4" out to stage monitor, big knob set to control 1/4" only. XLR gets full output so FOH/recording console gets consistent signal. Big knob allows easy adjustment by player for stage level. Channel level can be used for leveling presets.

I thought that they all sounded decent "in the mix" - different, but not bad. The real amp, however, side by side A/B style, had a clarity in the high end and weight in the low end, one or the other of which all the others lacked. I recently made a setlist of all the Helix amps using Jason Sadites' template. A 4038 mic on the stock cab with a 10k hi cut (for fizz control), a little boost to the lo, hi and presence, a little cut on the bass side of the xover and a little boost on the hi side and it sounds pretty good! I'll have to wait till tomorrow (when the neighbors are at work) to try it at volume though.

To expand on that: Simple Helix Amp/Preamp with 5150 Power Amp: Guitar>Helix Input>FX Blocks>Send/Return Block>Helix Send>5150 Input>5150 FX Send>Helix Return>FX Blocks>Helix 1/4" Out>5150 FX Return. Helix Amp/Preamp OR 5150 Preamp with 5150 Power Amp: Guitar>Helix Input>FX Blocks>Helix Send Block(ON=DOWN carrot) >Helix Amp or Preamp> >Helix Return Block>FX Blocks>Helix 1/4" Out>5150 FX Return >Helix Send>5150 Input>5150 FX Send>Helix Return^ By toggling the Helix Send Block On/Off, you get to use EITHER the 5150 Preamp OR your choice of Helix Amp/Preamp. With the Send Block OFF there's no signal to the 5150 Preamp, and the signal instead passes through the Helix Amp/Preamp. The Return Block carries no signal from the 5150, so it's like it's not there. With the Send Block ON the Helix Amp/Preamp is bypassed. Want to hear what a Vox AC30 Preamp sounds like through a 5150 Power Amp? You got it!
-
To use a Helix Amp through your 5150 POWER AMP section, you connect the 1/4" OUT from the Helix to the 5150 RETURN.

Unfortunately, the 502 only has 1 XLR input, so he'd be stuck with mono. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but it's always been my understanding that the most "wear" that occurs in an electronic device is the result of turning it ON/OFF, as the components are continually being subjected to heating/cooling cycles. Therefore, barring external factors (direct sun, lightning), it's better to just leave them on unless they're not being used at all for a long period of time. So, using the Helix as soundcard, you have the same flexibility - use the big knob for the speakers, dialed down if you're only using headphones - and the headphone knob for those.

You must be special! Here it is! https://line6.com/hx-stomp/

In Ableton's PREFERENCES, go to the AUDIO Tab. Make sure the Sample Rate matches the Helix (Helix is 48000 by default, but check). Click the INPUT CONFIG Button. Set the Buffer size as low as your computer will allow (if you get pops or crackles when playing/recording go higher). 128 should work for virtually undetectable latency, 256 might be noticeable, if you have to go higher than that you need to make sure there's nothing else running in the background and that your PC is optimized for audio apps. Failing that you need a better computer. With your speakers connected to Helix, set the Track Record/Monitor button in Ableton to OFF. You're now monitoring direct from Helix, zero latency.

I still don't get it. You always know what Snapshot you're in because the ring around the button is lit. What am I not getting?

Different tack. Consider the possible combinations of 8 effects: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 = 8 PLUS 1+2,1+3,1+4,1+5,1+6,1+7,1+8 = 7 PLUS 1+2+3,1+2+4,1+2+5,1+2+6,1+2+7,1+2+8 = 6 That's already a lot of Snapshots. There's a formula you can use to get the total possible combinations. Suffice it to say, it's A LOT! Eight Snapshots and one tap access from each to 10 of the possible 16 effects blocks is enough possible combinations for most people, and more control than is provided by any other device I know of.
