Yes. You can do that with the HX Effects. I've done it with various amps and it's quite fun. You might have some ground loop issues but there are various solutions for that.

No responses probably because like most here we don't know much about the Kemper. If you are recording through a DAW and you don't have a separate interface or the Kemper doesn't record via the USB out, then you can hook your Kemper line out directly to the PC+. Run as high of a signal from the Kemper as you can for the best signal to noise ratio. I suspect that the input levels for the PC+ USB interface are going to be dependent on the level coming into the PC+. I have never recorded from my PC+ so I am not sure. By all reports, the inteface will be very good.

Wow. This is an old thread. I bought an HX FX before I upgraded from my HD500x to the Helix, and I was doing 4CM with it. I will still sometimes hook the HXE with my 2 DT25s and use a preamp from one of them. I guess that is 5CM. It does sound fantastic. I use my 2 DT25s via L6L and I think it sounds glorious. I don't use the preamp models any more because I prefer the sound of the full models. I'll have to try setting up some patches to compare the DT preamps with my favorite amp models in the Helix. Were you using full or preamp models in your Helix?

Hi, You will need to purchase a compatible Midi controller and cables. There are a lot of posts about what midi interface to use. I purchased a M-Audio interface. Worked great with my DT25 amps. Just google "DT25 firmware midi interface" to see other discussions about this. Congratulations on the purchase. They are great amps.

You could also pick up one of the old Pod HD Devices with Line6 Link and not have to worry about the Midi programming. You would further be able to have better control of the preamp selections.

No, you set the PodHD to line out and run an instrument cable from the 1/4 our of your PodHD to the effects return of your amp. That would be the case if you are doing 4CM, or just amplifying an amp/preamp model in the PodHD.

No. There is not an RJ45 jack on the back which is needed for the older floor boards. There is only a 1/4 jack of which the Tip controls the "Channel" and the "Ring" enables or disables the "effect".

I do a lot of fiddling around trying different things. That's how I knew what Agosto wanted to do would work. It is pretty cool that if you are just a bedroom/basement/studio player, you can hook up a bunch of options to your Helix and activate the configuration just be changing the patch and turning on the desired amp. But.... We have to remember to play the guitar!

I have a 6 foot long oak bench behind my desk with one PC112+ on each end connected via line6 link. Works and sounds great. Using patches to get washy stereo delays with lush reverb, it's very satisfying.. When I finally get around to rearranging my office, I'll put one on each side of my desk to get more separation

It seems like they L6 is trying to make this more like a traditional tube guitar amp with a separate preamp and power amp with the ability to put pedals in front or between them. Seeing the the different types of amps listed, they maybe be doing some power amp modeling to make the 4cm suggested in the pilots guide authentic. And I see that there are thee types of cabinets selectable in the remote app. So if you are plugging a Helix or HXS directly into the return as is also suggested in the pilots guide, there must be some difference in selecting amp model types that should effect the sound coming from the power amp and speaker section. I haven't seen anyone talk about that or show any results of testing yet, but I would want to know that is the case before I bought it to use as an alternative to the powercab variants. If it's true, it would be a great option to use in place of a powercab. I'm tempted to get one to play with, but I have a Helix and Powercabs, so I don't know that I would get any benefit from this.

I have two Powercab 112+ that are sitting about a foot apart in my office. I get nice separation from them. I could separate them further but haven't gotten around to it. They are a good option for what you want to do.

You won't go wrong purchasing a Stomp or HX LT or Floor. I am primarily using the Helix Floor with a line 6 link cable to the powercabs 112+. One powercab can get very loud. It will hang well with a loud drummer at my practice venue.

For bedroom use, most amps, cabs, FRFR solutions are going to be overkill. A good set of studio monitors would be "Best". But investing in a good powered cabinet may give your many years of use. And who knows you might want to play outside of the bedroom? The HX Stomp will some day be replaced by something else you want to use, but a good Powered Speaker or analog amp/FRFR will be useful far longer. I have JBL Monitors, HeadRush FRFR 112 and PowerCab112+, and they all provide good output for a small room. Even my tube amps when integrated with my Helix sound great in a small room at low volume. A good hand wired analog tube amp will be useful and repairable far longer into the future than a digital modeling amp like the Catalyst or Katana, but they are fairly low cost to replace in the future. This topic always results in options overload.

I don't have a stomp, so I don't know if it can be done. I don't think it has two inputs, but I do see it has effects returns, so it might be possible to have the electric on one path, and acoustic on a second. Powercab 112+ has only one analog input. If you have a small mixer, you could have 2 stomps going to 1 PC 112+. Maybe use one HX Stomp and one HX effects for the acoustic. With a Helix Floor, you can definitely do what you are asking about. There are a number of folks around using one helix for two guitarists. For example, your electric guitar in HXF "guitar in" on path A, and Acoustic in "Aux in" on Path B. Both can be merged into one output to Powercab 112+ or 212+ via Line 6 Link, or just quarter inch or XLR outputs. HX LT doesn't have a preamp in the Aux in, so you might have to use a small preamp for the acoustic. See Steve Sterlacci's youtube videos on Helix. At one time was using one Helix Floor for both his electric guitar, and his Wife's live. He controlled her effects for her.

I think it's doable. I've messed around with 7cm a few times and while possible, it was a hassle. I don't even mess with 4cm much any longer. It sounds like you are not necessarily attempting to have both the MBE and AC30 going at the same time, but you can, and you can have patches setup to use only one or the other at a time. There are 4 separate paths in the Helix, so you have flexibility to do whatever you want just by changing a patch. Electric guitar in -> HX Guitar In -> {Path A} [Some effects blocks] -> {Path A} Send 1 out -> guitar in MBE, MBE Effects Send -> Return 1 -> [more effects blocks] -> HX output L -> MBE Effects Return {Path B} Send 1 out -> guitar in AC30, AC30 Effects Send -> Return 2 -> [more effects blocks -> HX output R -> AC30 Effects Return Acoustic guitar in -> Aux In -> {Path C} [some HX effects] -> HX XLR L -> Acoustic Amp. You could do some variations where the two preamps are summed up to Path A with stereo effects and out L and R for cool stereo sounds. Now what I would do with all of that setup, I would create some patches that use helix amp/preamp models instead of the tube amp models and have the output go to the tube amp power sections. I use the full amp models in the house because I can't really turn up the volume very often to get saturation of the power amp tubes, but also the preamp models are all over the place volume wise. You could even setup patches where you use preamp models from your tube amps and send the output to your acoustic via the XLR as an "FRFR" speaker. Heck, you could create a cool wet/dry/wet patch with all three amps also! The possibilities are endless. Have fun

I have played my Helix floor through combinations of tube amps, Headrush 112 Powercab 112+, Powercab 112, and various other powered PA speakers over the years. Some sound better than others, but they are mostly similar to me. I would buy the best small PA speakers I could afford and a small mixer so you have room to expand in the future. As your venues grow, you can even use the same speakers as monitors for bigger PA Speakers. I have taken my headrush 112 speakers and used them as a PA, and I think they sounds great. But they are going to be overkill for a single room venue. I heard a headrush 108 Saturday for the first time. It was strange that the guitarist using it had a fancy headrush board and the venue mic'd his headrush 108. It sounded fine in the house. I was very surprised how good the high gain amp modeling sounded coming out of that little speaker . If you find a couple of small PA speakers like the Headrush 108 you would have the portability convenience, and affordability with room to grow in the future. I hear the Powercab 212+ does some magic to create stereo spread, but I've never heard it.

You could buy a new or used HX Effects or Stop and chain them together!

I don't use my HD500x much any more, but I have paired it with my L6 PowerCab 112+ and it sounds great. I turn off the speaker and mic modeling in the output section and use the modeling built into the PowerCab for various speaker emulations and IRs (only the ones proided by L6 for free). It also works great in FRFR mode. I don't think L6 Link works stereo for these though. I also have 2 Headrush 112 powered FRFR speakers, and they sounds great to me with the HD500x. My favorite solution is my old DT25's via L6 Link (not an FRFR obviously). They are available for very agreeable prices used now, but I don't leave the house with them. Powercab is what I use the most. All of these solutions sounds slightly different

Unless I don't understand what you are trying to do, you don't need to purchase a DI to do this. In your HXE, put a SendReturn(send1) block at the beginning of your chain. By default, the send output will be at full volume (0.0) and the Dry Thru also. That will allow you to control the levels you pass, but I don't know of any reason to change it. There won't be any signal degredation doing this. I don't know anything about the apollo, but I suspect you can record the dry signal from the HXE on one channel, and output (via loadbox) from your amp to record on a separate channel. That will also allow you to reamp in your DAW, or take the output from your apollo back into the input for the HXE and reamp it to your hearts content. Happy recording

I frequently use my Helix floor with my Line6 DT25(1 combo, 1 head/cab) and Peavey Classic 30. I think you will be good to use whatever Amp or Preamp model in the Helix you want. Don't have a cab or IR block active in your path. Make sure your helix 1/4 inch outputs are set to line out in global settings. Run an instrument cable to the effects return of your Spider Valve amp. I don't know if you have control of the output topologies and speaker emulations of the Spider Valve like I have with the DT25 amps, but in theory, you can get a broad range of power amp/cab sounds. I only use the Full Amp models with my Helix. I feel the helix preamp models sound thin and are a bit inconsistent in output levels for me. I am very happy at using the full amp models with my amps at loud basement levels. Hope you have success.

If you run the Helix and DT50 4cm, it's going to sound very good. I used to do that with my HX Effects and the DT25. Though the Helix has better preamp and amp sims than the HD amp sims in the DT50 so I just use the Helix amp models. Comparing my Helix using full amp models and line6 link to my DT25's blows away my going to my JBL monitors, and its even better than my powercab 112+ in my opinion.

If you get the opportunity to pick up a Helix LT, Floor or Rack, you will love the integration with both the DT25 and the Powercab+ even more. The preamp and full amp models are even better than the old HD models in the DT25. Not that there is anything wrong with them because they still sound fantastic.

1/ What does MKII stand for? What's the difference between Spider V30 and V30 MKII ? Version 2. It's the newest verison of the Spider V30 amp. Firmware: You can buy a used Spider V amp and upgrade the firmware and it will be essentially the same. 2/ Spider V30 MKII is not much bigger than the Roland Mobile Cube I have now which has only 5 Watts power. Does the Spider really deliver 30 Watts? Don't know. Mine is a 240hc. The size of the box doesn't determine the output or loudness. 3/ For now I can't find any available Spider V30 MKII. Delays go for few weeks. Is it a supply chain problem or is Line6 coming up with new (un)announced models ? Hard to say. This is their current line of amps. But it's been out for years. 4/ Is it easy to change presets manually without foot switches for 2 or 3 presets? You can reach back and turn the dial to go to the next preset. Very easy. Turn it to the left or right and get a different preset. You can turn on and off effects by pushing on the the effects knobs. All doable if you have time during a song. A foot controller will be easier.

M6255, I have two DT25 amps that I integrate with my Helix. The integration is very good, but not automatic like on the HD500(x) because the models are not the same. You have all of the control you could need from a Helix to specify the power amp configuration, boost, feedback type. But you have to know what you want for the preamp/amp models you want to use in the Helix. I think someone did a chart of what the HD500(x) uses to help make your decisions, but I don't remember where I saw that. I love the integration with the Helix and my two DT25's. I am only playing them at home, and at loud basement levels, I've decided that I prefer to use the full helix amp models instead of the pre-amp models. That would proabably be true if I ever took them out of the house to gig with them (But I only take Power Cab 112+ out of the house these days). There is no way I know of to integrate Helix Native with the DT50 directly. The only way I know of would be to use a low latency interface for your Guitar input, and direct the output from your DAW to your interface for line out to the DT50s. You won't be able to do that complete circuit with your HD500x. You can use it as your input interface, but not the output because the signal coming out of your computer will go to the headphones and not your line6 link. You mention that you hear the sound oer the monitors, so I assume you have an interface out from your computer. You will need to plug in the line out from your computer to the effects return on the DT50 (left and right separately) to do this. And there will be latency. But it will allow you to see how it sounds to a degree. Only the Helix LT, Rack, and Floor have the line 6 link output built in, and they can be integrated with the DT25, DT50 or Powercab 112+ or 212+ Amps. I don't know of any other options.

Woodshed, There are many ways to hook the Helix to physical amps. 1. Use the helix as an effects processor putting all of them before the guitar in on your physical amps. You get a lot of flexibility, and this is the way that many folks used pedals before amps included effects loops. This reduces the risk of noise and ground loops that some experience with other methods. Your patches would not include preamps/amp and cab/ir models unless you specifically are going attempting to craft sounds using them. In general, this is going to limit the flexibility of the types of electric guitar tone to the those your amps and cabinets are capable of reproducing. 2. Use the helix to craft patches of classic amplifier models, but use the power amp section and the speaker cabinets of your physical amps. Build patches using the effects you want into a preamp/amp model that you want to use, and take the output from the helix and go directly into the effects return of your amp. That will give you a lot of tonal flexibility for your sound, but still limits you to what the power amp and cabinet can produce. You get a lot of flexibility with this, and can get some amazing variations. But a 4x12 marshal cabinet is always going to effect the tone in a consistent manner. The power amps also will color the tone in consistent ways. you might have some control over it in the amp settings. This is the way to get the "best possible sound" when hooking them up to your physical amps in my opinion. If you feel the tone of the preamps in your amps are part of your "best possible sound", then the next option is probably for you. 3. The 4 cable method (4cm) allows you to use the preamps from your existing heads, and the power amps and cabs you have. You can put effects in appropriate paths to your liking. I personally don't mess with 4cm much any more except for experiments in my basement. I feel that the Helix preamps/full amp models as described above give you much better options and flexibility than using the preamps in your physical amps. Now you might just prefer to use those two amps, and want to control them via the Helix, and that can all be accomplished. This can sounds great. Many folks have problems with noise and issues with signal levels using 4cm. Plus hooking up all of those cables gets old quick and introduce more places for your rig to fail if you are gigging. Many folks like the Helix because they can pack up their Helix and guitar and go to a gig without carrying physical amps. The convenience and flexibility of the Helix are what has made it one of the most popular modelers in use today. I still like to use Tube amps at home for experiments and as a reference to classic amp sounds for when I build patches. Plus classic tube amps have that all important "amp in the room" sound and feel that so many are after. There is nothing like the sound of plugging in a classic guitar into the front of a Marshal head, with everything on 10 and jamming. Using some of the options I and others have been writing to you about will still give you that experience. Bob
