  1. That's too bad. I agree that it must be the PC+ 212 at fault. The HD500 should work great with the PC+. You can use the speaker emulations and IR's in the PC+ with the HD500. You just turn off the speaker emulation. Works great. It's so nice to have other options with the HD500
  2. Hi Carl, I quickly hooked up my HD500X to my Powercab 112 Plus using a known good AES cable for L6L (works between my Helix floor and both my DT25 and the PC+). I'm getting signal from the HD500X and it's working just fine from my perspective. I didn't have to do any switch changes or anything special in the HD500 L6L settings. Hope you can get this figured out.
  3. Hi, I also bought a Mooer GE150. I purposed to use it as a backup for my helix and possibly as for flight board with my HX Effects. I've been playing around with it, and it works fine out of the box with my Powercab +. I changed the DB for input 1 to +8, and when I hit the strings hard, I get the input signal indicator hitting yellow. Moved it up to 12, and it was going to red alot. I was using a simple patch with just the Fender Deluxe amp and now effects. Anything pushing the input of a PC or PC+ more is going to add unwanted distortion. You DO NOT need a separate preamp. I have started messing around with turning off the CAB block and using the "Jarvis" speaker emulation and it sounds pretty good, but the PC+ isn't emulating the power output which in the Mooer GE150 is part of the cab block. It's nice that you can change tube topologies in the cab block. So far, I'm very impressed. I wish I could control the GE150 better, but I don't plan on using it for the effects if I have the HX Effects on a pedal board with it. One thing I can say about the Mooer GE150 is that it is small, light, and can be easily transported for a backup to a real tube amp or modeler. The Powercab + continues to amaze me.
  4. There are not a lot of folks using the Helix with the DT Amps. Once you get connected and have figured out how to setup your output to the DT, it's pretty much whatever sounds best to you. You might get someone's recommendation on what topology they use but I doubt it. I've had some fun with my DT25, but I've not messed around with it for a while because I don't take the DT out of the house and gig only with the Helix and in-ears. I have to make too many changes in my favorite patches to go back and forth, so I have gotten lazy. Maybe I'll delve back into it now. Enjoy that extra connectivity.
  5. The great thing about Helix is that you have many different options. I have 2 HR FRFR112, DT25, and Powercab+ (PC+112) for playing/practicing/experimenting at home. I get great results in pretty much any combination I dream up. I'm blown away by the wet-dry-wet setup using the FRFR112 and Powercab+. Absolutely amazing when doing ambient stuff. But on stage, I have only used in-ears. I just don't feel like lugging around more stuff now. But there are legitimate reasons for wanting a back line or floor monitors etc. For me, the most important reason would be that the guitar interacts with the sound of amplification nearby. , especially a loud tube amp. For some reason, that interaction inspires players beyond just playing their practiced parts. Everyone is different of course. The nice thing about the PC+ is that you can plug into the back and send it directly to FOH. It's nice to be able to put IR's on the PC+ or use the speak emulations directly. It offloads some load from the Helix. You could do the same from the FRFR112 I suppose, but there is no reason to do so because you have both XLR outputs (to go directly to FOH) and 1/4 outputs to go to your FRFR112's. And if you setup your Helix up to have the volume button control only the 1/4 outs (like i do), then you can control the FRFR112 volume from the helix using the master volume and not change the input gain on the FOB board. Enjoy your gear!
  6. Please share the solution that you figured out. Maybe you will help someone else.
  7. Amsdenj's recommendations are critical to get good gain staging in your LT. That is critical for getting good sound to whatever you are using whether it be front of house, K10's, or the Powercab. One of the things I love about the powercab + is that it has an LED to indicate the input levels, and flashes RED when its starting to clip. So as you build your patch, set your LT to unity gain (no blocks turned on) and adjust the input to your powercab so that it's flashing on your loudest strums in the yellow. Some might say it could flash briefly in the red, but I adjust the input on the powercab until I get a flash of red, and then back it off a little. Then you add your preamp/amp/cab/ blocks and watch that LED as you build the patch. That has saved me lots of efforts in leveling my patches for live play even if gigging without my powercab. Always check as you add distortion/overdrive blocks, or any block that has a level or gain settting. The powercab is brilliant! Gain staging is something that most folks overlook. When using someone else's patches. The first thing you should do is follow the procedure I outlined above and get the amp sim to unity gain followed by all of the other blocks. Oh and if you are going to add a "boost" to your patch, make sure it doesn't drive your powercab into distortion. That might entail setting everything else lower to start with. Hope you have great success. Bob
  8. Phil is correct. In general, you will plug the output of the g5n to the guitar in of the V240. Note you should make sure the output of the g5n is set to instrument level. Don't enable any amp or cabinet modeling on the g5n to just use the effects in the g5n. If you want to use the amp/cab modeling on the g5n, you could setup the V240 to have no amp. An alternative is to take the headphone ouptut of your g5n with a stereo cable to the AUX in on the back of the V240 in which case you are using it as a FRFR speaker (more or less). Bob
  9. It depends on your amp. If you are taking the effects out from your amp (you mention pre-amp out) into the HXE, that ofteny engages a switch or something that requires you to then take the output from your effects back into the return on the amp to get output from the power amp stage. If you have a signal in the Pre-Amp out, and signal still gets to the output stage on your amp, then what you show will work. Guitar ----Amp-------Cabinet A - Dry I Pre-Amp out-----HX Effects (Internal signal path-----Noise Gate--------Volume Pedal--------Pitch modulation-----delay--) Out to Power Amp input 1---------Cabinet B ---Out to Power Amp input 2----- ---Cabinet C If it's like all of my amps, you need to do the following: Guitar -> Amp guitar in->Effects send-> HXE Input ->(Noise Gate->Volume block-> Split block-> Pitch mod ->stereo delay)---Left-Out -> Power Amp input 1- ---Cab B | ---Right Out -> Power Amp input 2----Cab C -> Send block -> effect send)-> Amp Effects Return -> Cab A - Dry Well. Something like that. I had to do this from memory. The HX Effects will do it for you.
  10. Hi Buford, Few have seen the PodGo live so far, so it's hard to say whether it is the "right" pedal. But based on the reviews by folks on youtube, it will give you what you need based on the requirements above. For a little more the well known and understood HD Stomp plus an expression pedal would give you what you are asking for and be "Pro Quality". Personally, I use a Helix Floor, and it would be all of that, but over your budget, but a Helix LT would be within your budget. I also have an old POD HD500x and it would also meet your requirement. I still use mine from time to time. They are economical used or new now. Hope you find what you need.
  11. You have many options available.' Here are what I use. - A good set of studio headphones - An old PA system with mixer, built in power amp and speakers. Lots of those around used. - Flat Response, Full Range speakers. I have run my HD500(x) through all of the above. I get similar results with all of them. My favorite home solutions right now are a pair of Headrush 112 FRFR speakers (~US$299). They are economical, powerful, and I think sound good (on stands). I hear the Headrush 108 powered (US$199) speaker is good also. So If you are looking at a budget of around $200, it might be a good solution for you, and you can use it going forward for many years. I also have a Line6 Power Cab +, and it sounds great with the HD500x. I bought used one for round $500. Great future proof option as well. If I was in your position, I would probably buy a HD500x and a Headrush 108 FRFR.
  12. Hi Gampfer, Many of us have worked through this kind of scenario. If you get a Helix, you have the perfect tool for practicing and playing at home. I assume since you say "silent practice" you will want to use headphones. The selection of headphones is important, and there are lots of threads you will find for a recommendation. I don't use headphones at home so I won't recommend anything. I practice and make my patches using FRFR speakers, home amps, and/or my most recent acquisition the PowerCab +. When I play live, I go direct to front of house and use in-ear monitors. In the helix, you can use the Essex A-30, Fawn AC30, and the Matchless models to get tones you are used to from your AC30. One cool thing about the Helix is you can do dual amps in any combination you can think of. You will have at your disposal a huge amount of variation of other amp tones available to you. But if you primarily want the AC30 sound, I would develop my patches using the AC30 amp model at home using the built in cabinet model. Put in an the preamp model of the same amp you dialed in and match the values with the full amp model. Then when you get to your practice venue, you can bypass the full amp/cab model, and activate the preamp. Run the output at line from the helix to the effects return of your AC30. It'll sound fantastic. You can run the 4 Cable Method, but the preamps in the Helix will be just as good, and they will be consistent. 4CM is fun to play with, but I find it too much effort other than for experimentation. From there you can do other things of course. You can use different preamps besides the AC30 type with the power amp on your AC30, as well as do things like run the XLR from your helix to the front of house, and just your your AC30 as your backline. The options are endless. Be careful or you may spend more time experimenting than playing. I don't travel with any of my tube amps anymore. I just use Amp modeling in the Helix with Impulse Responses and go direct to the front of house. I use in-ear monitors when I play. I have lots of options for using a backline to allow me to get interaction of the speaker to fingers and strings like you would playing in front of a real tube amp. The bottom line is that the helix will open up all kinds of possibilities for you.
  13. I purchased the HXE to work with my DT25 before I got my Helix. The HXE and DT Amps work great together. I have done several patches with HXE and 4 cable method, and they are fantastic. The DT25 by itself is an amazing amp. Getting in with DTEdit really makes things fun. But now I don't want to carry a tube amp out of the house any more, and haved move to just Helix and FRFR and Powercab + But I frequently play through the DT25 at home. It sounds good!
  14. You also need to make sure you are using the correct type of cable for L6 Link. Not all XLR cables will work. XLR 110-Ohm, AES/EBU or a branded Line 6 cable.
  15. Right. It's always important to read the pilots guide and and other manuals!
  16. I just helped a friend out Saturday with a brand spanking new HD500X his wife bought him for Christmas. He plugged it in and started playing around with the patches, but he wanted to try some of my custom patches I had emailed him. I have to admit, the initial setup is daunting, and I forgot how difficult it can be for a new user. First off, his HD500x came new from the factory with the version 1 firmware. I would have assumed that a device who's software hadn't changed in 4 years would be manufactured with the latest firmware. Nope. Yea, it's in the owners manual. But it's a bit overwhelming. 1. Download and install the following software from https://line6.com/software/index.html for the POD HD500X. a. Drivers b. HD500x Edit c. Line 6 Monkey d. Line 6 License Manager 2. Run Line 6 Monkey and update to the most recent firmware for you HD500x if you haven't already done that. 3. Run License Manager, and activate your HD500x and anything else that you can activate. 4. Then you should see in License Manager the other model packs that you are entitled too. (At least recently, Line 6 has been giving away the model packs) Now you should be able to import patches from customtone or friends. Open up HD500X Edit an drag/drop them onto the patches in the banks where you want them. You can also go to File Import to open up and existing patch you saved or downloaded. Make sure you save your patches as you work on them to your computer. Hope you enjoy your HD500x
  17. Ccal, Otros han tenido ese problema tambien. La persona que ha tenido exito hizo lo sigiente do a 5 & 12 button power reset (clears presets/setlists/IR lists), they should say new 'preset' uninstall HX Edit Reinstall HX Edit package reinstall 2.82 (or whatever version you like) firmware import your good presets where you want them Que tengas exito Bob
  18. Hi Jep, You don't loose anything, you just get different or more difficult to get the same results when you go into the FX return. You definitely won't get any preamp tone in your sound. You would still just use the "preamp" models in your LT for the most part because the amp and cab models are specified in the DT25. Cab modeling is not automatically disabled on the LT or the DT25 when you use L6 Link. So you would generally select preamp models unless you like the sound of the full amp models.
  19. Some of these have been answered in other posts, but I'll add in the following to make it easier for some to search for the info: Default Voicings: - Voicing 1: Blackface Double Normal -> 2x12 Blackface Double Cab - Voicing 2: Brit P-75 Bright -> 4x12 Blackback 30 Cab - Voicing 3: Class A-30 -> 2x12 Silver Bell Cab - Voicing 4: Treadplate ->4x12 Tread V-30 - You can reset your amp to defaults easily. Turn it off, Squeeze the Voicing switch down and the Pentode Switch up then power on. hold it for 20 seconds or so until the Voicing resets to #1. -Default Mic for all voicings is SM57 Note that the mic doesn't change with the voicing. (Global) Every change of cabinet for a voicing affects the XLR output Don't know because I have firmware 2.0 and I'm not going back. DT Edit won't save "patches" for you. It will set the values for Channel A, and Channel B so that when you disconnect everything and power up the amp, it will remember the values you selected for those channels. Some screen shots of the 4 default voicings in DT Edit attached.
  20. I have the HX Effects and Helix and both work great with my DT25. If you are just looking for some effects, the HX Effects works great in 4 cable method. I really like the tone and simplistic configuration. I honestly use my Helix more because I don't leave the house any more with the DT25. They all sound great. But you might not need to get rid of the HD500 to get great sound out of it. Don't forget, you can use you HD500 as an effects unit as well using 4 cable method with no amp modeling but not use the L6link. plug your guitar in, throw up a compressor, distortion etc and add a send/return block. Plug the send from the HD to the DT25 input, Plug the effects send from the DT25 to the return on your HD500. Throw in some other effects in the chain on the HD500, and send the quarter inch output to the DT25 return. If you want to reverbs, all of the reverbs from the HD500 are built into the DT25 so you can save a block on the HD500. Just a thought to tide you over until you get the next box.....
  21. I had the same problem. I just deleted all of the factory presets and the problem went away. All of my user presets were fine. I never use the factory presets anyhow.
  22. Chipdougal, You have had a few months to play with the Helix rack and Spyder V back line. How is it going for your? Have you gotten satisfactory results? Thanks, Bob
  23. In addition to the Helix Floor I have, I also have a Line6 DT25, HX Effects, and Spider V 240HC. I have fun with all of them. I think the Spider V 240hc sounds great for bedroom volume play and it gets really loud when I want it too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend buying just a Spider V Amp for playing at home. It's certainly a lot more convenient for me when I want to play or practice to walk over to the amp and plug in, and play. I love them all. Maybe I'll get a Stomp as a backup. Ha!
  24. I bought my Helix Floor from Guitar Center. I had no problems with it and it even came loaded with the previous owners stash of Impulse Responses. I think I paid $1200 + shipping around 1.5 years ago. They come and go all the time. Same is true with other variants of Helix and Line 6 gear. If you get the Helix floor, LT, or Stomp, you can use a PreAmp model of your choice and run the output into the effects return of your Blackstar. It's going to be fun and sound great. You can always use Headphone too if I want to compare the other Full Amp models, IRs out and compare it to what you have from the Blackstar. Enjoy.
  25. Hi GB, Using someone else's patches almost always requires you to dial in the amp sound for your guitar and pickups. Gain staging is a huge issue with these modelers, so I would take Glenn's patch, turn off everything except the amp and see how it sounds with your guitars(s) and the FRFR/Amp+Zilla. Tweak it till you get it where you want it. Obviously, a 10 inch speaker isn't going to push as much air as a 2x12 Recto cab. You are experiencing the "Amp-In-The-Room" from the other guitarists Recto-Rig. It's hard to compete with that amp in the room sound in a practice space or on stage with a modeler unless you have a good back end. That's why products like the PowerCab exist. Most agree that the Headrush 112 isn't going to give you the same amp in the room feel/sound. I have 2 of them in my basement with a variety of amps and cabs and I agree it isn't amp in the room, but it sounds really good, and I can get great amp tone out of it. I get the amp in the room sound from my Line 6 DT25 hooked up to my Helix and that feels fantastic on the back line. And it cuts through anything. I have a friend who is using a Headrush 112 as his back line in the cover band he plays in, and he is content. But he uses In-ears and mixes everyone else which is a mix of mic'ed tube amps digital He is completely happy because he is in control of the mix in his monitor mixer during shows and practice. Everything is consistent. Take a look at Max Carton's YouTube videos on getting the most out of the HX Stomp. He has some great advice on dealing with your situations and demonstrates building basic Amp & Cab patches to get the best tone for Crunchy marshal tones. I like how he takes an empty patch and gets it sounding best, and often compares it with the real amp. There are a lot of things that go into making your tone sound good and mix well with the band. Having the right back end is certainly part of that. Running a stomp preamp block into the return of your guitar amp and Zilla cab "should" yield good results that can cut through the mix with the other folks in the band. Make sure you use a preamp model that is setup the same way as Glenn's Amp block, and disable the IR/Cab block and tweak that Preamp with your Amp/Zilla to taste. I wish you successful tweaking
