  1. Hi Jab, I'm sorry not to be able to help you much as I don't have the PowerCab, but am very interested in it, and I would use it with my HD500 also If/when I get one. I watched this video today, and maybe this will be a good way to use it. Follow Steve's solution to use the output from the HD500 instead of the l6 link : https://www.youtube.com/user/ss57790/videos
  2. Buenas, has descargado la instalacion de hd500x edit? Ese tiene todos los drivers que son necesario para usar el 500x con la computadora y monkey. cual pasos has complido durante la instrucción?
  3. Jab, I think you are attempting something that the powercab plus isn't designed to handle because it doesn't emulate a power amp. I don't have a powercab though I do have a dt25. The line6 link in the hd500(x) was designed to work using either with the preamp model going to a DT25/50 amp to get the poweramp/cab models associated with the DT25/50 or using the "full" model (pre/poweramp/cab) going to one the "Stage Source" amps. The HD500(x) when connected to the powercab will probably need to just use in like a "stagesource" amp so you use the full amp model not the pre. 1. I don't think the setup:output model effects the l6link. 2. Try using the full Brit J-800, and specify the cabinet and mic you want to emulate. 3. Set the Powercab to be Flat mode and not use a cabinet emulation or IR I would think it would sound good. Bob
  4. Yes. Make sure you set the input to the helix to match the effects send from your amp (line/instrument) and the output of the helix to match your amp return. It's probably overkill for delays and reverbs. Many of the effects shouldn't be in the effects loop of your amp though, but I will assume you have a handle on that.
  5. TS makes some good points above. You will have to play around until you find a sound you like. The power amp and cabinet are definitely determining the general sound for your Helix. It's possible that your combo is neutral, but most likely you are limited to the range of amps your helix can sound like. It's roughly like connecting the output of your helix to the effects return on a good tube amp. Start with the preamp for the placator amp like TS said, and try different combinations with amp model and or amp and cab blocks/IRs. Hopefully you can find what you like. I face the same issues with my DT25. I'm leaning to towards using amp models with the DT now instead of just preamps because I still want to send my primary output to the FOH. It's still taking a while to dial everything in. Good luck
  6. Hi, I have HX Effects and a V 240hc. There is no send/return and all of the modeling associated with amps in the Spider V contain their equivalent of the IRs for those different cabinet options. I don't think using the IRs in the HXE are going to do much for you. The only way to use the IRs in HXE is in front of the amp, and the najority of IRs are designed to emulate only a cabinet. The IR blocks in HXE are great for acoustic guitar IRs. If you get something figured out that you like the sound of, please share the info.
  7. Look for a used DT25 or DT50. Then you can have all of the power amp topologies you referenced and use your own cabinets if you want. And yes, you can control the power amp settings from your patches in firmware 2.8. It's pretty flexible.
  8. My adapter/cable was not M Audio, but it worked fine. I bought it 15 years ago or so. It was a generic device. I can't even identify it.
  9. Grady, The DT is at the end of the chain. Since L6Link is not bidirectional, you can't put your time based effects after the DT. It might be possible to use a "block" to go into the premap, and use the send return method to drop them after the DT's preamp. That might work like you expect. I was hoping for something more flexible. I've been a bit dissapointed using the preamp models then my time based effects then sending the output to the DT. It sounds fine, but I loose the flexability to use other routing options to FRFR or the FOH etc. the way I can dream up things. I just didn't want to have to do more send/return stuff with the Helix. Don;t get me wrong. It still sounds great having the DT amp at the end of the chain. I was very surprised how well the full amp blocks and even amp blocks + IR blocks sound going out to the DT. I'm still experimenting.
  10. Ah. you are right. I see it now rereading the thread in context. I can think of two possibilities that it isn't working for you. 1; The DT Amp doesn't have firmware 2.0, or 2; the XLR cable you are using to connect the Helix to the DT isn't compatible. The Specs for the line6 link are for a XLR 110-Ohm AES/EBU cable. Some folks have gotten regular 50 ohm cables to work, but others not. Hope you get it working. Bob
  11. Ezut, I don't understand your last statement. Are you saying you are giving up because it's irrelevant now because of all the other options we have available? I'm still trying to figure out how I am going to use this myself. I have control, and the sounds are good, but it seems a little complicated to me all the options. I need a good how-to guide.
  12. Amor, Is any of your helix/synth mix going to front of house?
  13. I've tried running the headphones out via a stereo 1/4 to the aux in on my Spider 4 75, and it wasn't very satisfying. I have done the same with my Spider 5 240hc, and it sounds great. I also run the output from the helix into the effects return on my DT25 and that sounds fantastic. I mostly use the Headrush 12 frfr for my practice and dialing in tones. I'm very happy.
  14. I never tried anything like that. I haven't used my HXE in a while so forgive my vocabulary. I'm certain you can accomplish this. For the electric path, run the amps "effects send" to HXE "input", drop your effects blocks in the first part of the chain, and then put in a "send/return" block. Take the effects send from HXE to the effects return of the amp. Plug you piezo into the HXE "effects return", and put in the effect blocks you want. Plug your output to your PA. I think by default, you send and returns on HXE are instrument level, which would be ok for this scenario. It's possible to change it as needed. Bob
  15. Hi, I have a Headrush frfr 112 in my basement on a plastic keyboard stand horizontal at head height when I'm seated along with other various amps and monitors around my desk. I mostly use the Headrush these days. I think it sounds great. I didn't have to tweak anything to get the sound I'm happy with. I build and tweak my patches with it, and they sound good when I go live. For live, my Helix goes direct to front of house and I use in ears plugged into a Powerplay digital monitor mixer. I'm happy with the sound. I'm thinking about getting another one to do stereo. Bob
  16. I am in a similar state mode of anticipating the update so I can start using my dt25 with the helix. I mess around with it some, but I'm not going to do all that midi stuff. I more frequently use my hxe with the DT25 which sounds killer. Every once in a while I hook up the HD500 and using it with the DT25 (or not) to make sure I'm ready with a backup if the Helix goes down. I check 4 times a week probably
  17. Hi, Another Bob weighing in. I've plugged my helix floor into the aux in on my 240HC before too. It sounds pretty good. I usually use my headrush 12 FRFR speaker though. I would not want to disable the built in 240hc tweeter speakers because they are essentially bi-amped. You would not be able to keep a load on the amp, and could damage it. On the other side of the coin, I don't think you are getting those higher frequencies to the CBR12's. The head is designed to have those tweeters provide the high frequencies when plugged into a guitar cabinet, and the normal guitar amp/speaker frequencies go to the cabinet. Of course there is no way to balance the cabinet with the tweeters because what they really want you to do is buy their half stack to put it on. That might be why I use my FRFR more than mess with the 240hc and the helix. I do find myself pluggin into the 240hc on a regular basis just to mess with the amps and effects. I think it sounds great. I just wish it had effects send and return so I could marry the helix with it in other ways. Bob
  18. You could always take the effects send from the Helix to the FSC and the output of the FSC into a reactive load box and back into the effects return to an IR. Though I wouldn't bother, I would pick a appropriate helix amp model. It all depends on what you want to do with the FSC. I'm running my helix into a headrush frfr 12, and it sounds good, I also run it direct in to FOH and I'm quite happy to the tone in the house, and in my in-ears. It's nice carrying only a guitar, helix, and my coffee to gig.
  19. Before I bought my Helix, I used HX Effects in 4CM with my DT25. The sound was fantastic. I have been hearing some folks complaining about HX effects and noise in FCM mode. I never gigged with it and had long cable runs, so I don't know anything about those problems. But look at the forums here carefully for that topic. I plugged my guitar directly into the HXE to throw some compression and distortion into the input of the amp, and then pulled the effects send back to the HXE for some delay and reverbs. Output back to the DT25. Loved the sound. But with the Helix, I don't have to carry my amp around, so I haven't messed with it in a while. There are some presets with 4cm in their name you can use to base your patches. I just built them myself using HX Edit. I've even messed around a good bit wth HXE and HD500 in 4CM, and it's great there too. Lots of possibilities. Used for around $500, it's a great unit.
  20. You have to wait? I saw on Monday it was already out. hehehe
  21. Hi Distant, There is a lot of great advice here. I would approach this the same way as many. Two amps, one clean, one high gain, and one cabinet/IR. You don't need to use snapshots to have full control over all of the values of the amps, switch IRs etc. You can have foot switches control nearly all aspects of the amp settings. Experimentation is part of the fun with the Helix because it is amazingly versatile. With the arrival of the HX Stop, I have been watching folks videos on how they get the most out of it. Everything applies to the Helix, so you can learn to be extremely efficient with your setup in the same way. I recommend you watch Richie Castellano's videos on setting up a basic patch for tele, strat, and les paul on the HX Stomp. He basically takes the two amp approach discussed above, and does it in a very efficient manner with a few effects. With your Helix, you can expand on that in significant ways. Of course there are lots of other videos on Youtube, but you can get a lot of mileage out of this one. Have fun!
  22. To upgrade the firmware, you need (form the DT25 support firmware page): A MIDI interface that connects to your computer via USB (download the current Driver for it if you don't have it installed) MIDI cables (or a MIDI interface that includes integrated MIDI cables) Latest version of the Line 6 Monkey application installed. Download Line 6 Monkey here
  23. No, When you change to Channel B, and all of the output characteristics are different, your output stage is going to be different, so you are combining the recorded "preamp" characteristics of your A channel with the loop, and when you switch to B, you are going to hear a combination of the A Preamp, with B'a power amp/output settings. I don't know enough to say what settings change or control the power amp section. If you can figure out how to change only the preamp settings, you could theoretically get what you are looking for.
  24. I have verified this with many patches, the topology, class, etc. All change to whatever you have set in the preset. Its like it's doing a behind the scenes send to your DT with a return, so you can put your effects after the amp, and then the final output goes back to the DT. So you are using the preamp or amp on your POD, but the output stage on your DT and the effects show up however you specify in your chain on the POD.
