  1. Don't know with Logic but with Reaper (in Windows) I 1) Connect the POD to the Scarlett with XLR 2) Connect the Scarlett to the PC with USB 3) Connect the PC "Speakers Out/Headphones" to POD "Aux In" 4) Loop the DI track in a external player. I use Vlc Now the DI signal pass through the POD amp(s) in the patch 5) Set Reaper to use the normal audio streaming (not ASIO) 6) Make adjustment in the patch in real time and record the track with Reaper Hope that helps :)
  2. Well as I've already said in another thread some time ago, I wanted to know what's the time gap between the penultimate firmware and the last one of the "first generation" PODs and what I've found out is: 1) POD XT: Two years between the two 2) POD X3: One year between the two Maybe this time is a 3 years wait? Who knows...
  3. The links are at the end of the videos and are http://line6.com/customtone/tone/251984/ (Keith Richard tone) http://line6.com/customtone/tone/252111/ (Jimmy Page tone) http://line6.com/customtone/tone/252110/ (Brian Setzer tone) http://line6.com/customtone/tone/252112/ (Brian May tone) http://line6.com/customtone/tone/251982/ (Andy Summers tone) I'm only not 100% sure on the first one, because the last part of the link is not readable in the video...
  4. Well it's not always high speed, but no I haven't thought of that! Thanks for the idea. Let's see if that works :)
  5. If you go to that page and click on one of the POD HD (not X) links you go to a global page that never mention the other PODs...
  6. I have a POD HD500. After 2 years of use the knob 3 and 4 started to malfunction. As you go forward, the time you reach certain numbers everything move backwards and you have to move 2000 times forward to go to that desired number as the display continue to go backwards on every number past a certain point, which varies. Sometimes it happens a few times but others it happens all the time and that's really frustrating...
  7. Ah ok so I'm waiting to read an email :)
  8. http://line6.com/firsttoknow/ Apart for the deja vu moment (Jan 2012 part two) I don't get why one have to create another account just to watch a video. Anyway, that could be interesting...
  9. Strange, I've got the Yamaha HS5 (the successor to the HS50M) and the complaints I've seen are always for the lows and highs, never for the mids...
  10. Try putting the EQs (you probably need two at least) on the blocks before the amp model. That seems to "work" with my Yamaha HS5 studio monitors...
  11. Ah it's a random value :) Regarding cables, I've seen endless debates. Some say they notice a difference changing cables, while some others not. It's a confusing subject. Thanks :)
  12. Very interesting explanation gckelloch but I have some questions: 1) Since "1M" value seems the standard amp input value, what do you think "3.5M" is exactly? I can't seem to find any reference anywhere. In the circuit schematics I've seen there is 1M only. I wanted to know that because I prefer 3.5M most of the time... 2) How can you determine (apart from judging by ear) which is the correct "Guitar In-Z" setting? For example I've got a Gibson SG with everything stock. See 1)
  13. I was under the impression that 3.5M = 1M + Cap In fact I've never seen anywhere a use of that value describing amp input impedance, so that could be an explanation of what's that and why I find everything below that "dead" sounding...
  14. Dont' know if that's the same even with the other amps, but I've found out that using the "full" version of the "Plexi Lead 100 Brt" you can get a sound similar to the "pre" one having all the amp deep editing parameters set to 0% except for the "Master", which must be set at 50% instead of the default 100%...
  15. Do you notice also a change in the recorded sounds?
  16. Well I don't know why is it like that but I can confirm that's what normally happen and then you can find in the Advanced Guide "Be sure to set the Mix to less than 100%, or toggle the FX Loop Block "Off", if you do not have a complete connection between the device's SEND & RETURN jacks, or you'll hear only silence from the output of POD HD500!"
  17. Let's forget for a second the problems people have with the POD (included the "vague" documentation). What it seems really strange to me is the lack of communication from Line 6 (communication breakdown, it's always the same!). I understand that most of them are busy doing things for the company, but this is the first "community" I see in which the administrators never ever have something to say on anything, except rare cases. That gives the idea (right or wrong, who knows?) they don't really care about it... PS: Then you see they respond more often in other sections of this forum and\or in other forums (TGP for example) and the thing becomes even more "weird"...
  18. I've never used presets of anything I've owned, well maybe I do a short test but then I always start from scratch changing everything and never look back at the presets anymore. When I was playing with real amps I changed settings of every effects and amp knobs all the time, because most of the time the presets are unrealistic and\or boring. If having good presets was the rule for selling more products, I guess every company would have some...
  19. Well I wanted to know what's the time gap between the penultimate firmware and the last one of the "first generation" PODs and what I've found out is: 1) POD XT: Two years between the two 2) POD X3: One year between the two So, place your bets folks...
  20. An effective marketing strategy!
  21. That's because the POD is not True Bypass: "True bypass means when a pedal is OFF, the signal goes in the INPUT jack and out the OUTPUT jack without touching any components (resistors, capacitors, op amps, etc). You can not check for this by pulling out the battery, as you will still get a signal out of, for example, an old wah even though it is not really true bypass (the circuit still is attached to some components when off). Let's call this type of effect a "stomp switch" pedal, it uses a round stomp switch to turn it on and off, and passes signal through even with no battery." "If you have a "stomp switch" type pedal without true bypass (all MXR pedals, most EH, most wahs, almost any pre 1980 pedal except a fuzzface) then when OFF you MAY lose some high end due to your signal bleeding into the components." http://www.analogman.com/faq.htm
  22. On Ideascale I see some uninteresting\undoable (the accent is on undoable!) ideas have many "points" and there are lots of "disagree" on other ideas without even explaining why do they think that was a bad idea, so you don't know what the problem is. I frankly can't see the point of it! How useful is this? What happen when an impossible idea get 5000 votes? Maybe they will send a teddy bear to the OP with the t-shirt "Impossible idea of the month"...
  23. It seems that setting is used only if you connect to the PC with a S/PDIF cable, not a USB one...
