  1. The JTV's all come with 10's on them...I'm gonna guess that the Std does too. If you're used to 9's, then that it likely your problem.
  2. The pipeline contains rumors, wild speculation, and wishful thinking...;)
  3. There are many options...just don't expect a patch that you tweaked for the studio monitors to sound at all similar through the amp, and vice versa. They're two very different animals.
  4. Any decent pair of studio monitors should work just fine. I have no experience with those specifically, but assuming that you didn't find them in a box of Cracker Jacks, you should be OK. ;)
  5. The 89 is a shred-mobile. Much thinner profile and flatter radius than the other JTV's. I've never played a Standard, but from your description it's much more of a baseball bat than the 89.
  6. Don't try and use the crappy cable that comes with the guitar. That's only intended for connecting to Workbench. You'll end up destroying the cable and/or the jack. You need to get another VDI. L6 sells longer ones with metal housing on both ends...it's OK, but not wonderful. There are other places on line to get more robust cables. Someone will chime in with a source. Can't remember off the top of my head.
  7. Same as any other 2-point floating bridge. The guitar should have come with a bunch of allen wrenches. Find the one that fits the bridge posts and crank it down to wherever you want it. Or, you could lower the individual saddles. Depending on how out-of-whack things are, you may need to fiddle with both. You may need to adjust the truss rod as well, and likely the intonation once you've set everything else where you want it. If you're not familiar with set-ups, take it to someone who knows what they're doing. And no, you don't need an "authorized service center"...it's a guitar, and a set-up is a set-up, provided that they know their craft.
  8. It's just a little better than 704, but not quite as good as 706...;)
  9. No matter where you put it, you'll be turning it on and off with the toe switch, same as you would with any "real" amp. The POD can't do that for you.
  10. For the love of God, NOBODY ever said that it did! Not once... But if you leave the battery in the guitar whilst using the VDI connection, it WILL eventually discharge. End of story. Is the VDI "causing" said discharge? NO, of course not. It would be a dumb question to ask, and an even dumber answer to offer. Fortunately for everybody, that's NOT the question that was asked, nor was it the answer that was given. But it ain't gonna stay magically charged forever either. And whether it takes weeks, months or years, is basically irrelevant to the discussion. The guy asked "will the battery drain with the VDI plugged in?" Answer: YES. On a long enough timeline, it will do exactly that.
  11. Nobody said anything about draining "quickly"...but they will discharge eventually, no matter where they are. He asked if it would drain with VDI connected, which it will. He seemed to be inquiring whether or not the VDI connection would charge the battery...which it doesn't. How long will it last sitting on a shelf? I have no idea, but I know the answer isn't "indefinitely". Never bothered to clock the process, as I don't use the battery anyway. Pretty sure it's dead...hasn't left the guitar case much in 3 years.
  12. Say what's on your mind, man...don't hold back. ;) It's gonna fall on deaf ears in here, though.., "official" responses are few and far between around here.
  13. Ok, ok...let's settle this once and for all. Everyone drop their pants, and I'll get the tape measure. ;)
  14. Like every other rechargeable battery on earth, it'll drain sitting on a shelf...a bit slower, but drain it will, nonetheless.
  15. I think some people spend less time and fewer sleepless nights debating cancer treatment options...the fate of humanity is not hanging in the balance here. If you don't like what you've heard, then why even consider spending money on it? Some who've been convinced that the POD is the unit for them by those very same videos that you think are unconvincing, have lots of trouble reproducing those results when they get one in their hands...and they LIKED what they heard. Buying something that you've pre-judged to have failed in its primary mission to replicate specific amps, virtually guarantees disappointment. Never make a purchase that you have to talk yourself into. It never works out. I'd look elsewhere if I were you...
  16. You're actually gonna dig the hole even deeper? Now it's a contest over which country has spawned the worst tyrants in history? Ok, you win...if you can call it that. But remind me again, who (for some bizarre reason) began referencing history's most horrible people in a discussion about musical equipment? In an age when you can't even mention your favorite TV weatherman in passing, without someone claiming emotional distress as a result, the fact that you started all this in the first place is baffling to me. And no, I personally wasn't "offended"...but you really shouldn't be surprised that some folks were. Moving on...
  17. What about Ghengis Khan, Idi Amin, King Edward I, Tomás de Torquemada? ;)
  18. That was Neanderthal reasoning the first time around, and it still is. Keeping everyone in the dark because of a handful of idiots makes no sense, and it never will, no matter how many times it's repeated. Close all the libraries, and shut down the Internet...knowledge is a dangerous thing. But never mind, I give up too. This is an exercise in futility.
  19. Let's have the set-up specs, then...pretty sure the sun will still rise tomorrow even if us mere mortals know what height to seat the pickups.
  20. "Failure" isn't something that one generally worries about with a "regular" guitar. It's the overall build quality that's often at issue. Aside from a loose solder joint, which is the easiest fix in the world, there really isn't much that can go wrong. Pickups will last essentially forever, and volume and tone pots almost forever. I've got a Strat that's over 20 years old...pickups have been swapped out for something a little different several times, but the pots are all original and work just fine. Biggest gripe I have about the "big name" guitars is the insane over-valuation. Guitars selling for multiple thousands of dollars that often leave much to be desired in terms of fit and finish. Fretwork especially, is often lackluster, and I won't even discuss the un-rivaled a$$hattery of deliberately mangled "relic-ed" instruments. Strat guys can source necks, bodies, hardware, and pickups from any number of places...and end up with an instrument just as pretty, playable, and "Strat sounding" as anything Fender sells...and for considerably less money. It's like buying a Harley....you're paying $10K for the bike, and another $10K for the HD logo on the tank.
  21. Once upon a time, they used to fill blimps with hydrogen. That worked too....until it didn't. Oh the humanity. I'll keep my contact cleaner, thanks.
  22. Which would have happened anyway, regardless of what the company does or doesn't disclose. Fools will behave as such no matter what info they do or don't have access to. All the James Bond, "need to know" crap accomplishes is making life more difficult for those of us with an IQ bigger than our shoe size. Secrecy is not a deterrent to anything.
  23. Lmao...best thread ever. Welcome to "Carefest 2016". We now return you to your regularly scheduled frenzy of righteous indignation. Hurrumph! 😤
  24. Well the headphones may not be a cure-all...but like I said, there ain't much in the way of instant gratification with this thing. Doesn't mean the tones aren't in there, but you do have to play around with it for a while to find them. Took me several weeks of fiddling until I was happy with the sounds I was getting. It's now the cornerstone of the best sounding rig I've had in years, and I'm not a novice. I've used everything under the sun at one time or another. Cab and mic choice makes an ENORMOUS difference...give it some time.
