  1. That was my rationale for getting my L2T...however, once the global EQ came along it leveled the playing field a bit, because you can't use it if you're connected via L6 Link. So it depends on what's more important to you, having the global EQ, or the ability to have different speakers modes saved with each patch, and to trigger the change on the fly with the POD...it's one or the other. Had I known the global EQ was coming, I would probably have looked into a less costly FRFR option...that being said, I love the way the thing sounds, and it is a convenient package...just costs a bloody fortune.
  2. There are a few things in life that I wouldn't want the budget version of...mechanical heart valves, parachutes, helicopter blades, etc...but it's probably OK to gamble £7.19 on a can of electronic "gunk-be-gone", especially when it's competitor is 4x the price... ;)
  3. Nice! Solid color pickguard always bored me, on any axe. Just dull...
  4. http://www.ehx.com/products/44-magnum As small and light as its gonna get... If you need more juice, Rocktron makes several single rack-space SS power amps that don't weigh much.
  5. Well spoken, sir. And I sympathize with your drought predicament out there...is CalTrans still running the sprinklers on the side of the road in the rain, while the Gov goes on TV telling everybody to let their lawns die? Inspirational leadership...LOL.
  6. There's also a great deal to be said for innate talent. Some players (no matter what their chosen instrument) will get to a level in 5 years, that it will take someone else 20 years to get to (if they get there at all). Lord knows we ain't all Mozarts and Beethovens...
  7. Guess we'll need a tutorial on "ignoring". Bye-bye.
  8. I realize it's all personal preference, but as far as I'm concerned, if EDM is the future, then there's nowhere to go but up...wanna be a "songwriter"? There's an app for that...push this button, and POOF!...you're a "musician". Don't forget your mouse-head helmet....ugh.
  9. I think I'm gonna get a head start and start disliking/ignoring this genre now...beat the Christmas rush. ;)
  10. As is always the case with the truly eloquent, it always swings back around to name calling. I officially give up. You're right, you've always been right, and none of it has ever been stated better. I stand humbled in the presence of greatness. Why don't we just ignore each other...we'll both waste less time.
  11. Tuning down that far with 10's and the strings are usually flapping in the breeze...fret buzz is gonna be hard to avoid without a serious forward bow in the neck.
  12. Go figure...this happens the same week that "Alienating Your Customer Base for Dummies" debuts on the NYT Bestseller list... :P
  13. If you think about it long enough you'll probably have a stroke, because it's nonsense. The modeling has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the bridge floats. The 59's have a fixed bridge, and the modeling is identical. Might be a nice guy, but he has no idea what he's talking about.
  14. LOL...never fails. Ya gotta wonder about the timing though, and who at L6 decided this was a swell idea. It hasn't even been 2 months since they released them, and they're already blowing them out at 30% off. I haven't even gotten around to messing with all the new models yet. Lots of people are gonna be cranky...
  15. I understand you just fine, I just don't agree. I also understand that you'll probably continue to nip and tuck your objections the more people disagree with you. First, no one but an "authorized" technician could so much as touch the input jack without causing irreparable damage...now you've backpedaled to just the "unfamiliar electronics". And since I'm not going to be able to improve on the following list of reasons why it's really not necessary to quake with fear at the idea of taking a JTV to an "unauthorized" shop for work, I'll just quote him instead: But at the end of the day, it's your instrument...do what you like.
  16. I think the only solution you're gonna find is one of the various tremelo blockers that are out there. I've got a Tremel-No in my 69, cause I'm not a whammy bar guy. You can set it to fixed, dive-only, or full floating, so you've got options. If you can live with dive-only, it'll solve the problem of notes going sharp when you rest on the bridge.
  17. I try... ;) Remember folks. the 9:30 show is completely different from the 7:30 show...don't forget to tip your waitresses. :P
  18. Yes, I would imagine so...but then again, what do I know? I spend all day encouraging people to break their guitars in fits of uncontrolled ignorance.
  19. Well, look at that...I guess it's possible for someone without an official licensed blessing to touch the electronics after all. Was it scary? No earthquakes, or booming voices from the sky warning you not to do it again? :P
  20. Always tough to diagnose an intermitent problem. If I had to guess, I'd say the issue is probably with the POD, but who knows? You can start by ruling out the other variables, namely the guitar and whatever cables you're using. Is it a Variax, or a "normal" guitar? If its a Variax, does it happen with both the VDI and the 1/4" cable? Does the problem happen with more than one guitar? With more than one cable? Swap things out one at a time and see if the problem persists.
  21. The only thing missing is from this is a long, self-satisfied sniff at the end...we really need sound fx. Feel better? "Moronic, ridiculous...hurumph. I win." I shall debate you no more. Take a victory lap. Have a nice day.
