  1. They are working, hard, every day, even weekends. You'll just have to have faith. Or, you could read back through all the threads, especially THE thread over at TGP, to see all the correspondence from the team. It's there. You need only look for it. Over time, you'll get to know the guys. I don't know that they could communicate more with us and actually get work done. And yes, ideascale is an extremely important source for their vetting of which improvements are most important. Not the only, but very important. All the things you asked for have been asked for before, go check em out and vote up the ones you like. Check out the top requested feature at ideascale (perhaps you already have) https://line6.ideascale.com/a/ideas/top/campaign-filter/byids/campaigns/51424 (it's one of my favorites, too) No, they do not, however, correspond directly about ideascale, other than to tell us to use it to correspond with them and that it's the best place for us to go with our future feature requests, and to acknowledge that they know which are the heavy hitters... Not only that, there are not just customer satisfaction but also legal reasons that they can't discuss directly what's coming. FTC stuffs. And their support team is second to none. Get to know Frank Ritchotte, he wants to know you. And, finally, sort of..., they don't directly say yes or no to ideas, but various guys talk about the technical aspects of Helix at times and do discuss possibilities. For instance, a recent post noted that the screen currently does not have a fast enough refresh rate to create a strobe tuner graphic, but the implication was that it may be possible to change that. While unspoken, there would of course be consequences.... (as little furry animals run in fear) If you're in the Boston area, a bunch of us users will be getting together again in the end of June. Frank is hoping to join us if he can.
  2. Which, in fact, is what AUX is for... Sorry I forgot about that... :-/
  3. Active pickups,... definitely sounds like you are overdriving the input circuit. "Guitar in Pad" is the first option in the Global Settings In/Outs menu. I forget how much it drops the signal -6 dB I think but all that matters is you don't overdrive your input signal. You may need to reduce your input even further at the "Guitar in" depending on how hot your pickups are. Though maybe you might want to find a way to lower the output of the pickups when you are using the Helix? Helix is like and responds like an amp, but I am imagining there are some differences and you may not need such hot pickups to get the results you normally use it for. You can always boost the signal if you need it louder later in the chain, but my bet is you won't need to once you get the correct input level and you're input signal isn't clipping anymore. From @Digital Igloo - "Helix's Guitar Input has a digitally-controlled analog pad before A/D conversion. FWIW, the impedance circuit is the same." You may find this thread interesting http://line6.com/support/topic/22535-what-does-the-input-pad-actually-do/
  4. You said you dropped the input level, but have you tried the Input Pad? What kind of pickups are they (sorry, I'm not familiar with the pickups you said, so I couldn't tell what they are from the website), Active or Passive? Single or double coil? Does it sound like digital clipping? Since you said the signal is well below limits at the output and into the DAW, sounds like it's clipping on input maybe? Sounds like you've checked it all out pretty appropriately. Have you created a recording of the bass through the helix and direct into the interface for comparison and submitted a ticket?
  5. I'm assuming you put in a ticket already? My bet is you may be surprised how quickly you can get it sorted, especially since you're touring...
  6. So I'm confused. The question was can the Helix mimic the Mimiq? It seems to me the Mimiq uses the same input signal twice (or three times as the case may be). Are you saying it's not?
  7. (that's what he meant by "put it up in the cloud"... he wasn't specific because there are a thousand vendors out there) I love this idea, definitely emailing myself tonight...
  8. "Never underestimate the genius of an idiot" TM
  9. So many things to do with parallel routing. As @jbuhajla said, also, you can run super serial, you could create a path for mic in and effects for that... Just run through the templates and the factory presets and you'll find lots of examples of different ideas.
  10. Wrong version of the editor. You need to update your editor.
  11. That's awesome. I love that you don't need a DAW to do the recording... Always a pain to set up between songs for each song. Here, you can just press and play. I didn't look at the details, I assume it "groups" tracks from each on/off on the record button? I suppose it at least time stamps them so it should be easy enough to figure out what's what. Lot's of used units out there, too for really reasonable prices. Thanks, probably my next purchase.
  12. Nice, I've been looking for something like that.
  13. Otherwise, you could still bring your focusrite, or some other mic pre, and hook up your room mics from the focusrite into your available returns. Problem I see with that is you'll need to set up those returns in all your presets. Just seems easier to me to use a dedicated interface once it's more than just the Helix....
  14. You didn't say which Focusrite you use, but, in my experience, I prefer to use my 6i6 for recording jam sessions of more than just me. I bring in the Helix through the s/pdif, and that leaves me 4 more inputs, you could bring in drum mics through a mixing board into one track, then there's 3 more. I just find it really useful to have each instrument/voice on a different track when mixing the sessions down later. Yeah, they're just scratch stuff, but, I like being able to isolate instruments later. It's just not so easy to use a room mic 'cause it can be hard to balance the volumes of the various instruments later. Plus, by isolating instruments, you can try out different ideas later if you want... Then again, it all depends on how much effort you want to put in. Then again, once you get your setup the way you like, it's easy enough to set up again
  15. We just missed it by a couple weeks :-/ He was in Danvers last week, gosh darn it.... Hopefully, he'll be back, given he lives 'round heah
  16. I didn't think you rambled at all. All good info. I think it matters, too, what sort of presets we're talking about. The worst ones for making my Shure's sound ripped were the Fuzz tones. Impossible to use the headphones with fuzz effects. Clean tones, they were fine. As I noted, it's those presets with a really wide dynamic range that really made them impossible to use.
  17. Not sure why that's a problem.... He obviously wants to at least try to experience a system that can emulate multiple amps, but if he wants that "amp in the room" feeling that some people say they need, if he keeps the Marshall he can still have that, too. No problem.... Nobody is saying you should get rid of the Marshall. We just want to make sure your expectations are properly set. The Marshall is not and will never be FRFR. But that's not saying you can't get sounds you like out of it. Any of these instruments, whether it's tube amps or modelers, are all just tools for creating "music". Nobody says it has to be perfectly this or that (which is in fact impossible). Personally, I'd hang on to the Marshall and pick up either an Alto TS210 or a used Stagesource speaker. Then you get the best of all possibilities. I like the L2t because it has a built in mixer so, not only does it act as an FRFR monitor or PA for me, but I can also plug in a mic and acoustic guitar (it's got built in acoustic IR for the piezo pickup in the guitar), and it's got built in reverb as well for the mixer channels. But that's for me because I play out.
  18. There's a huge difference between the volume and usable range of a 50 watt amp and a 200 - 1000 watt FRFR speaker. They work very well at bedroom volumes because of their solid state amp characteristics. I picked up my L2t and L2m "used" (they might as well be new) for $500 and $400 respectively from Guitar Center, one as part of a 3 year 0% deal (when I bought my Helix) and the other on 6 months 0%. And I've seen them go for less than that. People are very happy with the Alto TS210's as well, and I've heard them and am impressed by them. Again, even though the L2t and L2m are 800 watt speakers, they work fine at quieter volumes. They are more like a PA speaker than a tube amp in that regard.
  19. As I noted, the SHR-840's are 44 ohm headphones. At any reasonable volume (maybe I like them too loud), any tone with a wide dynamic range (like an Arbiter fuzz tone) totally clip, and even have dropouts. Given the Beyerdynamics perform better, I'm gonna go with what DI said; the "low impedance headphones will likely clip and distort" reason. They work fine through my computer and when I listen to the Helix with my headphones when I'm using my Focusrite 6i6 as the recording interface. They are good headphones, and more detailed than the Beyerdynamics, they just can't handle the wide dynamic range signals the Helix headphone amp is capable of. Shure SHR-840's don't suck. I'm not gonna say they are awesome, but they don't suck. Did anyone actually read what DI said? I have yet to connect the headphone jack to my interface and record through it. Guess I should do that just for that final test.
  20. Actually, you just want a Windows 10 based tablet with a usb connector, then you'll be all set. I believe Walmart sells a few around $100. I've seen posts from people who have successfully implemented it. The comments about sending too much data are regarding using bluetooth and wireless connections. Any tablet that is a Windows PC will work with the editor through the USB cable since, well, it's a PC.
  21. p.s. here's another thread on the subject http://line6.com/support/topic/20353-guitar-impedance-setting/ Your impedance thoughts are discussed in detail by DI and phil_m. It was started pre 2.0, but continues on past that update...
  22. That's a good point. Maybe I should keep and prep my bean as a backup system. It certainly would be a heck of a lot lighter and easier to set up than my amp and pedals in the case of a Helix failure. (BTW, don't think I'm any kind of real pro. My SO is,... for some reason she likes to play out with me, despite my limited skills.... I'm an Engineer by day)
  23. BTW, I saw a post from DI implying that the impedance of the Arbiter is 10K ohms. I'll have to look for the full list of Helix effect impedances. I think I've seen it before (maybe not).
  24. There's not a whole lot of difference between the HD500 and HD500X Advanced User Guide. I had (have, probably soon to sell it) the HD500 Bean, too. Got it at an amazing price from Sweetwater along with an FBVII and case at an even more amazing price used from GC. It was my first foray into Line 6 equipment. I wanted to, but I never really used it a whole lot live, It was faster for me just to use the few pedals I had and my 3 channel amp to get all the sounds I wanted than to figure out all the various presets I would need to recreate those sounds and organize them to be useful for me when I played out, plus I tend to change stuff up on the fly, and HD500 interface wasn't great for that compared to turning on and off pedals at will and turning a couple knobs here and there. But it was fun to use and I did use it quite a bit for practicing and writing and recording. Form factor was good for carrying it around my house and even when I went on business trips I could take it and a guitar with me and play in my hotel room after work, and it worked well with my headphones so it was great when my kids were around and I didn't want to blast them out. I just couldn't wrap my head around developing presets for use live (still having trouble with that concept with the Helix, but at least there's hope with 32 available slots. It's a me thing, not a problem with Helix. I think it's just going to be a case of I just have to do it and it'll be fine (first gig with it out is on Tuesday at the Rockwood Stage 1 in NYC, 6(:30) pm)). The only difference between the HD500 and HD500X was a little more available DSP so you could add a couple more effects than you could with the HD500. I never really ran into a problem of running out of DSP so not having an HD500X bean didn't really annoy me. It was already so crippled anyway in terms of I/O, I wouldn't have upgraded to another Bean anyway. If I had upgraded it would have been to the floor model for the added I/O and loop (hence the upgrade to Helix).
  25. Yeah, I thought it would be good to collect it in one place for reference, for myself even, later... I've been having issues using the Arbiter, and this may be why.... Can't wait to get home to test it... This, to me, is really important information... I hope they develop an Advanced Users Guide someday similar to the one they created for the HD500X, plus an updated Model Guide would be useful to. I've been creating my own version of the one that's in this thread.... Hopefully I can release it someday... Sadly, Helix updates are coming too fast for me to keep up  :D
