That's correct. I remember that the TOE Switch had to be pressed very hard the first time when my Helix was new. So I guess he has not noticed the Toe switch yet.
-
I think he didn't do that ;) ... Have you tried the Bypass Assign setting (you can assign EXP Toe / Pedal1 / Pedal2 to activate your wah)

In my experience, upgrading an OS often causes problems with already installed software and drivers I think a clean Windows 10 install and reinstalling your software is the better solution.

The freeware "USBDeview" is good for debugging such things. First I would diconnect all other USB-devices. Then turn off the Helix and close/uninstall all Line6 Helix software/drivers and restart the computer. Then use USBdeview and uninstlall all unneeded drivers (usb sticks e.g., ...maybe there are still old line6 drivers) Restart and install HXEdit2.8 again. Start the Helix and try to start the update. (This helped me some time ago, when my USB port did not recognize some drives. I don't know if it also works with the Helix problem.)
-
But it would also be good to be able to download the new setlists separately from the line6 homepage. That would be a little more user friendly. ...does not necessarily have to be, just a suggestion

I'm not sure(I have the floor), but I think Helix Control is only for the Helix Rack. You need the Rack to program MIDI or something. It is not a stand-alone midi controller, I think.

For all who still have problems: I don't know if it helps and only if you have tried all other steps befor: First I would uninstall all line6 software/drivers. Restart your computer. There is a tool called "USBdeview" Windows saves all ever connected USB devices, this sometimes can cause problems with new devices. Maybe there are still old Helix or USB drivers there, that block something. If you find something, uninstall it(...at your own risk). But be careful here, don't remove still needed drivers / only remove line6Helix or unneeded(be sure!) USB-device drivers! Then restart your computer. Install HXEdit2.8( check all the boxes and just let it install all the software and drivers), turn on the Helix and pray you can connect.

I'm sorry to hear that it does not work even with a different computer. ...sounds silly maybe, but do you have another computer or a mac (maybe you just have bad luck with your systems)? Did you install HX Edit 2.8 with all drivers selected? (It's not necessary to install the updater separately) ...sorry if you've already tried this
-
Maybe you have the option to install the update from another computer? (I know it's not the best suggestion)
-
...shut down the Helix and the updater, reinstall HxEdit2.8(incl.drivers), try again

My "old" notebook has a switchable graphics card (AMD+Intel). I can only start HX Edit it with the AMD card enabled. The "low energy" Intel card is not supported. ....I don't know if that helps someone
-
You purchased a preset pack or something? I think the code means the product has been already activated. You can download your activated preset packs here: My Account>Hardware&Software>Helix Marketplace
-
Should work with the same username and password. Maybe your firewall/anti-virus program blocked the installer? I would try a password reset if you still have problems

" After putting your Helix in update mode restart the Updater program and restart the v2,80 update. " If that does not work, reinstall HXEdit2.8(incl. all drivers) ... You can read one of the other "Helix 2.8 update frooze / Boot mode does fail..." topics. ;)
-
Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall Helix2.8Edit an all included drivers? (Shut down the Helix and the updater befor) ...pressing footswitch 6+12 while switching the Helix on? ...try annother USB-port, don't use a hub (...I think you know that, just to be sure) If nothing helps, the best way is to try the installation with annother computer.

Same for me. I guess that not all drivers were updated correctly during the first Helix Edit 2.8 installation (don't know why). And then the new "Core" firmware could not connect to complete the update.
-
The firmware release instructions were clear and I think the most people read the note: “Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode!” THIS IS NORMAL. Breathe deep, everything is fine" and klick OK. The problem was, that there were many where the update froze forever at this point(me too). But now it works for most people and we have a great update!
-
for me to :) :) :) ...but good to know Helix has a "safe"mode/update mode. that makes the next update more relaxed. ...by the way any news about 2.9 ;)

2.8 update stuck in 'boot failure, entered update mode'
Peter replied to tstanfield's topic in Helix
I didn't miss the step, but had the problem. ...but everything is fine now :) -
2.8 update stuck in 'boot failure, entered update mode'
Peter replied to tstanfield's topic in Helix
...many here had the same problem If the update process stucks (...more than 30 minutes), turn off the Heilx and shut down the Update program. Then reinstall Helix2.8Edit(including the drivers) and start the update again. That should work. Luckily you can not destroy the Helix with an update (...I think) because it has an built-in update mode, which starts when an update has failed(maybe you have to use buttom combo 6+12). -
Most people could just restart the update process after shut down the Helix and the updater. This did not work for me, because the updater could not connect to the Helix anymore. I saw, that an error occurred in the Windows device manager, so I reinstalled the drivers/HelixEdit and the problem was solved. ...maybe not all drivers were updated correctly during the first HelixEdit installation
-
Have you tried to reinstall the drivers/HelixEdit2.8? (Look in the Windows Device Manager, if there is a problem)
