? Sorry I don't quite follow. You want to connect 2 external effect pedals? - Why "send 1+2 in stereo and return 1+2 in mono"??? Can you explain, what you are trying to connect and why you need this "1+2 stereo/mono/aux" thing. Why you don't use send1 and return1 for one effect and send2/return2 for the other effect?

You can control the looper with an external MIDI controller: (from the manuel)

Try restoring from backup as "phil_m" said or make a reset of the Global settings (footswitch 5+6 on boot) and try changing the footswitch layout again.

Have you checked your global settings? The level settings for the outputs may have changed (line/instrument)

It's new since 2.81. 3 of my presets was affected after the update, but it was easy to fix (...thanks "johnfrancis")

I think this should be done to avoid driver installation issues. Sometimes this can cause problems during the update.

FS 5+6 ...2.82 is out. maybe it also fix your problem

You never saved a backup befor an update, ...very risky. Maybe your problem is similar to this: If you have only 3 own user presets and no IRS, I would save/export only these presets and do a factory reset( ENC5 & ENC6 ). This updates the factory presets / overrites everything. Try, if it works now without rebuilding on every boot up. If yes, you can import your saved presets. If it happens then on every boot up again, one of your own user presets is probably faulty.

It is possible to insert two mono return blocks in the signal chain and one stereo send block. You can mix the mono returns to one stereo send or you can use a separate path and stereo send for each one. But I don't really understand, what you are trying to do. It only makes sence, if you use a some stereo effect block between the returns and sends.

The 9 and 10 button "restore" deletes all of your own presets. Maybe you backed up only one setlist and did not make a full backup? The easiest way would have been to perform a full backup in HX Edit 2.30 (" From the File pulldown menu, select “Create Backup…” Click [Create Backup] to confirm."). and then directly install the 2.81 update/software. ...Normally, the presets are automatically restored during the update process. Sometimes a reset and restore of your backup is nessecary. > open HX Edit 2.81 (" To restore from a backup, from the File pulldown menu, select “Restore From Backup…” From the Backup File pulldown, select the desired backup and click [Restore Backup]")

It should only do this once (if you do not edit your patches again). I would do a reset(9+10) and load the backup. Then wait and let the Helix completely rebuild your patches. Hope it works the next time without rebuilding.

Then I think a complete reset(9+10) is the only way :( (then you lose your presets!) ... You can try to hit the Bank Up and Down buttons together to enter preset mode (quickly, don't hold them down). But I think, this is not the problem here.

I think it's a bug, and you have to reset the global settings(FS5+6).

You can only use each loop block once. I think the only way is to use a merge/mixer block for the inputs and to use one path. Then you can mute(set the level to -max db) the input in the mixer settings via footswitch/snapshot, you don't need. ...I have no other idea at the moment.

Have you closed HX Edit befor starting the Updater? ...Can HX Edit connect?

No it's not possible I think. When you switch the preset, the Helix needs a little moment to clear the memory and load the new effect blocks. This cannot be fixed by an update. ...if you need more blocks and snapshots, you have to buy the floor/rack/LT ;)

If you just play on a amp/pa without band, more settings for the global eq would be good. (think there were already several ideas on line6.ideascale) I almost never touched my global EQ, because the EQ is not very useful. You can not save different settings for different locations and it's only a 3-Band EQ (+low/highcut) So I use an external equalizer, which also has a nice autoEQ feature.

You can also connect a mp3 player or something similar to the effect return. ... Unfortunately the Helix looptime is really short. The Headrush Pedalboard allows 20 minutes per loop and 100 layers. But I think you can not load/save tracks to the looper, so it isn't a backing track player. I own a Helix and recently bought a Headrush Looperboard (has a integrated backingtrack player). But at the moment I'm not happy with the Looperboard, because it has to many bugs(...waiting for the new firmware :(.

There are different reset options. 10&11 starts a rebuild("repair") of your presets, 7+8 deletes every preset. ...by the way, you are using the same HX Edit version as your firmware(2.71)?
