  1. Yes, channel level on the amp block will affect the input of any blocks following it, but not the amp sound directly. You can always adjust at the output block (more like an output circle)
  2. Do any of the patches have IR blocks? What are the input icons set to? Be sure to check output blocks as well. What input are you plugged into? By P1 do you mean Expression Pedal 1 (EXP1)? A volume pedal block is automatically assigned to EXP1 when you place it in the chain. Are you sure there's one in your chain?
  3. Big daddy is worth it imo. I'm mainly an electric guitarist but also a home recording hobbiest and I find everything handy. LT has no mic input and big daddy has 1.
  4. I use a DAW (usually audacity). Be sure to try all things like palm mutes and pinch harmonics to get an idea of dynamics in all frequency ranges
  5. If you already understand how to mic amps in the real world and deal with IEMs I say go for it. Sounds like a good Helix ad if it pans out 👠Kind of guitar you usually play? Do you like a Dark or bright tone? Will the board have Phantom power on? Helix hates Phantom power in it's XLR outputs I use the Essex A30 (Vox AC30) a lot with some of the cabs from the newer firmware but I'm sure if you call up the Amp+Cab block you'll get something workable. With the amp selected, page over to the cab section and low cut up to 111 or so, high cut down to 6.5-ish. I wouldn't worry too much about globals at all. If you're too loud, turn down and if you're not loud enough, that's what PA preamps are for! Joystick over to an icon in your chain, touch a footswitch for two Seconds, hit OK and it's assigned to that stomp switch. Or you could touch the same switch real quick to see its parameters. If you're a smart enough pair of pants, you'll be able to figure it out pretty quick. I did.
  6. There are IRs that aren't cab or mic models. There are IRs that simulate poweramp interaction with a speaker load that can be used in conjunction with other IRs or cab models. I've run cab models into physical cabs before to make actual guitar sounds before. No rules indeed
  7. I'm sure that's a frequency response of a speaker, not an IR. The response of an IR changes over a small amount of time
  8. +1. At the rate my Helix drops USB connection I'm sure I'll break my joystick in no time
  9. Of course! I was just plugging in a working patch cable by itself. That bug was when the auto engage first dropped. The fix was to unplug your guitar from your Helix and plug it into the Exp2 jack, doing the same thing a shorted jack would do. I think that's the answer here
  10. If you plug another expression pedal into exp2, the on-board button won't swap. Then you could disable the volume pedals bypass control which defaults to the toe switch so pressing it would do exactly nothing. The catch is is that you would need another expression pedal. just a dummy cable wouldn't work as far as I've tried
  11. Sounds good! I'm a fan of the Hard Gate set before the amp block, myself
  12. Glad you figured that one out that one was really stumping me
  13. Is it weird that I'm hungry after reading all that?
  14. No problem. Just be sure to quote one of my posts so I get an email alert
  15. I have practice at 2,about to go build something soon, so I might have a window to check out your preset in about an hour
  16. Come on guys, I'm the brave knight who fought off that troll and I know what a MIAB pedal is! My day is made!
  17. https://www.dropbox.com/s/zg2tyaq5ufojits/2204%20Mod%202CH.hlx?dl=0 and another. No problem I hope they are of some use to you
  18. https://www.dropbox.com/s/doec88w58cd7w90/A30chetype%20Feed.hlx?dl=0 here's a preset to go with it
  19. Yeah they're much older but I like em, different strokes though. Try out the one I just linked to, I low-cut pretty steep up to 150 to 170.
  20. What works for me are a mixture of Guitar Hack's, God's Cab, and the free Own Hammer IRs Try this one https://www.dropbox.com/s/bimeffk7fn6dy7x/Electric.wav?dl=0
  21. I'd start in a fractal unit ;p But seriously, I'm assuming the USA Lead is based on a Mesa something-or-other so maybe start with the Recto?
