  1. That degrading oscillation effect around 0:40 is awsome! Would love to see the patch - and/or have you explain how you got the effect.
  2. I'd just use an online utility to pull the YouTube video as an mp3 or wav file, then import that as a track into your Audacity project. That gives you way more flexibility with how you can deal with the background audio rather than just relying on a live stream.
  3. I would put it as an FX loop and experiment with where it sounds best in the chain. That may be first, may not be. And it may vary between your presets. If it turns out it does have the best effect as first in the chain, then I'd _maybe_ pull it out of the FX loop and hardwire it there. Having it in an FX loop gives you versatility. Just me, but I'd also have the VoiceLive in an FX loop. Again, flexibility...
  4. Canadians don't call it Canadian bacon. Not sure how we get blamed for that :-) Maybe ask Michael Moore. The only place you'll see that phrase in Canada is in the menus of pizza chains that are HQd in the US.
  5. And if you are simply looking to have a stereo effect to fill out a sound - as opposed to relying on stereo separation for an integral part of the sound (e.g., ping-pong delay) - you can just let the reverb at the end do that and run everything as mono up to that point.
  6. I've used an IR to shape the tone of the guitar - trying to make a frankenstrat sound more like a hollowbody by mixing in an IR of an acoustic guitar - then running into normal amp and cab blocks. Not perfect, but it works surprisingly well.
  7. The HOG2 is MIDI controllable, both in terms of preset recall and in parameter control. So, EHX definitely has the know-how to do it. I'm guessing that the price point for a ***9 device with MIDI control would be in the HOG's neighbourhood and they might not sell enough units to make it worthwhile. That being said, I'd be willing to shell out HOG2 money - or more - for a unit that had MIDI + all the ***9 units.
  8. Yes, Helix can have the H9 change presets. On a per (Helix) preset basis or on a snapshot basis. Or on demand via stomp commands. And what's wrong with daisy chaining? I run the Helix MIDI Out to the H9 and then onto an EHX HOG2. With cheap cables. No issues. It's not like there is a lot of MIDI commands floating through the chain, just when I change presets or snapshots.
  9. Interesting. Once you have a good mix set up, wouldn't you be able to mix down the two IRs into one using a DAW? And then just load one IR, freeing up some DSP...
  10. Two come to mind immediately for me - I play in one band that uses a drum machine which can send MIDI clock. If I can slave to that, I don't have to worry about (correctly) tapping temp for my delays. Yes, I can program presets that have the tempo baked in, but when you use the same preset for 8 songs, all at different tempos... - Another band, we occasionally have tracks. The computer that drives that can also send out a MIDI track - useful to me to change presets and snapshots. And now, tempo. Mid-song tempo changes, it helps.
  11. I just tried this scenario using MIDI-Ox: - PC03 to select preset - CC69 00 - CC69 01 - CC69 00 - CC69 02 Worked as expected. Different PC# than yours, tho. ... Just tried it with the same PC# as yours. Also works as expected Using Win10, MIDI over USB, if it matters.
  12. Yes, doable. You can assign CC#s to blocks in a preset so they can be turned on or off via MIDI. This functionality was added in the firmware 2.10 update. From the release notes: Block Bypass via MIDI—Individual processing blocks can now be enabled/bypassed via incoming MIDI CC messages. Click the Bypass Assign tab. Move the MIDI In slider to choose the desired MIDI CC. Incoming CC values 0-63 will turn the block off; values 64-127 will turn the block on. Note that some MIDI CCs are reserved for global functions and cannot be selected.
  13. That should be pretty easy to do, depending on what you mean by "various aspects". The signal chains are independent, as in they process signals independently. But a single Helix preset covers both signal chains. So the 2nd guitar couldn't change the loaded preset for just the 2nd signal chain. But he could change any parameter on any block (or the active/bypass status of a block) in the 2nd (actually, either) signal chain, including expression control.
  14. Can you clarify if you are using the Helix to send a bypass/activate/toggle MIDI message to the H9, or are you bypassing/activating an FX loop on the Helix? If you are sending MIDI bypass/activate to the H9 - would seem that you are sending the toggle MIDI message, rather than an explicit activate or bypass. By default, PC124 is toggle, PC125 is bypass and PC126 is activate. The H9 has the ability to change the function for any PC message, though, so you might want to check to see how your pedal is setup (H9 Control App -> Pedal -> MIDI Settings -> Program Change receive map). And, to further complicate things, you can configure the H9 to perform those actions using CC commands... If you are just bypassing the FX loop on the Helix - not sure what is going on. If you save the preset with the loop bypassed or enabled, it should recall the preset with the FX loop at that status. As for the Hotknob button - there isn't a MIDI message to activate it. But I'm not sure why you want to. If you are looking to control parameters on the fly, an expression pedal would be a better option. And you don't want to add an expression pedal to your setup, you can configure the Helix to have its pedal send the appropriate MIDI messages to act as the H9's expression pedal.
  15. Paolo, I like that. I've also been on that road, sew it more as a sloooooow 5mph crawl of single-file traffic.
  16. It looks OK to me. But do you have any way to capture the actual MIDI messages being sent? I'm thinking there might be some corruption happening or something else in the signal chain sending out another (possibly conflicting) message. Also, can you have the software send that command on its own as a test to see what happens?
  17. Yeah, the Helix and the JP start at different numbers when they count :-) Same thing with an Eventide H9, btw. Just adjust the number on the Helix to 18.
  18. Glad you got it working! No, you can't slave the H9 to Helix tempo. Helix doesn't do MIDI clock, either as master or slave. It seems like a lot of people are asking for this, hopefully Line 6 has it scheduled for implementation soon. H9s hold 99 presets. You can use your computer to back up and restore preset lists, but that's not a live, on-the-fly sort of thing. If you are looking to do a 1:1 thing between your Helix presets H9 presets, you're basically limited to 99.
  19. Tommas - sorry I misunderstood. Thanks for the clarification. sdre - First, double check to make sure that your cables are hooked up properly. Second, check the MIDI global settings on the Helix (Global Settings -> MIDI/Tempo). - make sure the MIDI Base channel doesn't conflict with either of the H9s. - MIDI PC Send/Receive should be OFF Third, check the MIDI settings on the H9s. (Pedal -> MIDI settings) - MIDI Receive channel - sounds like you've set this, but check it again. - MIDI Output Mode should be Thru (or Thru+C) - MIDI Over Bluetooth - probably doesn't matter, but I set it to No - also make sure you havent messed with the PC or CC mappings Third, you need to unplug the USB cable to the H9 if you have it connected. When the USB is connected, it ignores MIDI over the DIN cables And last, you might need to move off your Helix preset and then back on to it to get the MIDI command to fire.
  20. I'm at my computer right now, so here's a screenshot of how to set up the instant command to control an H9. In this case, my H9 is set up as MIDI Id 3. If you are using two H9s, give them separate IDs and then send a separate command for each. You set this up on the default snapshot for a preset, or on each snapshot in a preset if you want the H9 to switch from snapshot to snapshot. The H9 wants a MIDI PC message (not a CC, as tomas infers above) to switch settings. You simply issue a PC message with the program # set to the H9 bank. The H9 counts from 0, so in this case, PC #5 loads what shows on the H9 as bank 6. One other thing - if you are connecting your computer to the H9 via USB, it ignores all MIDI commands coming over the MIDI ports. You have to unplug the USB cable to get it to work with commands coming from the Helix. The H9 has some additional MIDI capabilities to map PC messages to different settings, but you'll need to read the manual for details on that. I like to keep it simple, but if you are doing a lot of MIDI automation, the H9's extra capabilities could come in handy.
