Not Anymore! :-)

Anyone that knows how this stuff works knows that you can't make $$ on 5 dollar orders! IT costs money to process orders. That's why things are bundled. If you don't want to spend $50 for a bundle, then don't! It's up to you. I think that even if I like and use one model it's worth the $$ to me.

Ghost Installation Step-By-Step Variax 500
Charlie_Watt replied to leesteel's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Yes. That should work. -
Options are always good. I don't use that many amp models but I would opt for more options to use. Never know when I might find one I really like. For now I am a Fender model guy. I also own several fender tube amp clones that I built. IMO, the pod sounds just about as good as the real deal when you tweak on it.

Ghost notes in Drop tunings
Charlie_Watt replied to clay-man's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Only thing I can think of is that somehow the mag signal is getting through as well as the alt tuned model. The VDI cable carries both. It's up to the Pod to use or not use the Mag signal. -
How does the Standard functions compare to the 59?
Charlie_Watt replied to kennethkcarter's topic in Variax Standard
I think that the Standard will have the same models and functions as the JTV Variax's. -
Ghost Installation Step-By-Step Variax 500
Charlie_Watt replied to leesteel's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Answer is no. THe 600 has a trem. The 500 is a hardtail. That means that the bridge assembly is different. I think you can use the same Ghost saddles but the connections will be different. -
More options is always better! I would think that Line6 would be working on this if they think it will sell more hardware.

Your guitar pickups are probably responsible for the buzz and hum. (All guitar pickups do this to some extent)
-
I do not think the X3 has a variax interface.
-
I would see if you can find a deal on a used X3Live instead of buying the USB interface. The X3Live will work fine with your V300 and the old Workbench AND it's a great pod to boot.

Connecting the Variax 300 to a PC
Charlie_Watt replied to charlesian2000's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
I own an X3Live and it works fine with my Variax 500 which is the same as your 300 interface and Workbench wise. The X3 Live is still a very good unit. I upgraded to an HD 500X when I got my JTV. -
New JTV-89, some update issues
Charlie_Watt replied to Drawcut's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
There is a button on the battery box that lights up the LED's. I would not remove the battery any more than needed. That battery box is not the more robust thing I have seen. -
The looper will use lots of RAM depending on the recording time supported.
-
Make sure your output mode is same as your friends' as that makes a big difference in how the patches sound. The FW isn't going to change the sound of the patches.

Connecting the Variax 300 to a PC
Charlie_Watt replied to charlesian2000's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
You can get the USB interface or one of the pods that supports the Variax VDI. A used X3 Live would do it. The USB interface is only for Variax. You might be better off finding a used Pod X3 Live since you can use that for more than the USB interface for the Variax. -
They already had to update the free update! :-)
-
They don't have to wait until the FW is out to be working on the manuals. There should be an update or addendum to the manuals that comes out when the FW update comes out. We want to read about how the new features work - not have to guess. The Global EQ is a perfect example of a feature that deserves a description of how to use it.
-
The online manuals are outdated too!

New JTV-89, some update issues

You need to unplug the 1/4 inch plug to shut off the battery usage. Turning the volume down reduces it but it not to zero. -
I can see how if the trem is now floating and it wasn't before that it would feel easier to bend the strings. Keep in mind if that is the case, you will detune the other strings when you bend one string. The actual string tension when you are not bending has to be the same as it was before our the string would be out of tune.

Ghost Installation Step-By-Step Variax 500

Nice job again. Closer to the center is easier to get clearance under the bridge. If it doesn't fit without touching, I am sure you can remove a bit of the guitar body with the Dremel. -
String tension is the same when it's tuned to the same pitch no mater what you do with the Trem springs. String height is the only thing that will affect the playability and your changes should not have changed the action. I am a technical guy and I don't like mysteries! I'm glad it's playing better for you but I still don't understand why.
