  1. Customer Support????? This is a Users Forum. We do not have Customers here.
  2. Doesn't bother me that the HD doesn't have a power switch. I use a power strip to power my stuff and it has a switch.
  3. It actually may be better that the Pod isn't grounded through the power supply. That creates ground loops. The other gear should be grounded and the Pod should be grounded through it's output cable.
  4. My JTV69S neck is perfect for me. I like it better than my Strat neck. But I have very small hands and fingers. I find it very easy to play and the string spacing is fine. I think the earlier ones had the strings too close to the edge of the neck.
  5. Very different levels. Phones out is designed to drive headphones. 1/4 jacks are higher impedance either instrument or line level outputs.
  6. It sounds like it's got a defect. I would return it or get it repaired under warrantee if it is new. It should not do that but there is pressure applied to the unit when you engage the toe switch and it is probably causing the thing to reboot.
  7. I think Line6 should have changed the power plug when they changed their power supplies from AC to DC. Most of us have the old ones laying around and it's easy to plug in the wrong one. Even if you are aware of the difference it's easy to make a mistake if you are moving your stuff around often.
  8. Sounds like EU prices are way higher than in the US. The going rate for EV is $400 here.
  9. I got mine from here: http://www.guitar-cable.com/index.aspx It is very good quality with good ends and good flexibility.
  10. No need for the spliter. Just make sure your signal at the end is mono and both XLR outputs will be identical.
  11. You will just make the value of your guitar zero if you remove the electronics. Don't do it.
  12. You should be able to go to Downloads and select HD500x and then get all of the available downloads for it.
  13. One thing - to make the onboard pedal to work you have to be on the correct EXP-1 or EXP-2 mode. Look at the two lights and see that the proper one is selected. You push the pedal all the way forward HARD to switch to the other mode. I got fooled by that several times. I set up to use the volume pedal but the control was set to the wrong EXP mode. You can recalibrate the pedal but this may really be your problem.
  14. When I got the original Workbench the CD that came with it was an old version. Download the latest from Line6 if you haven't already. The old version did not even run. You are only paying for the interface when you buy workbench because the software is free.
  15. I have the XLX-12P and I am using it in my music room with my HD500X and JTV69S. Love it. It's way too loud but that is what the volume knob is for. :-) It is probably overkill for my use but it sounds great especially with my acoustic patches. It has bass and treble controls and several DSP modes that shape the sound. At $400 it's not cheap but it's not out of this world either.
  16. I like jumbo frets for rhythm playing. You can lower the string height at the nut. To get the minimum string height you need to have the neck adjusted perfectly and all frets must be proper height. A good guitar tech should be able to set it up to your liking if you don't fancy doing it yourself. My JTV69S was set up almost to my liking when I got it. I lowered the string heights at the bridge slightly - each string is individually adjustable on a strat type bridge which is nice. The nut height is fine on mine but most of my other guitars came with the string height at the nut way too high for my liking. Getting a perfectly made high quality nut is probably the best thing you can do to make your guitar ring out better and make it more playable.
  17. There are so many different pickups used in Strats that they do all sound different. Mine was so bad with single coil noise pickup in my music room that I installed EMG active pickups. They are dead quiet by the way but they do not sound quite as good as my original pickups did. My JTV69 single coils pick up a bunch of hum as well. I seldom use the mags on my JTV because they are too noisy in my environment.
  18. Solid state amps do NOT have an output transformer. Most are directly coupled from the output transistors to the speaker or coupled through a large capacitor. Tube amps all have output transformers to convert the high impedance tube outputs to match the low impedance speaker coil. Spikey, you do not know what you are talking about here.
  19. I agree that businesses are driven by profit. That is capitalism at it's best. They also know that they need to have satisfied customers to survive in a very competitive market. Unless you are in the undertaker business. :-) They would love to sell the same old product rather than have to spend big bucks to develop new ones but the market doesn't let that happen. When Line6 drops a product it's because it no longer makes sense to make it because there is a new one replacing it that is better and often no more expensive to produce than the old one.
  20. You have got it wrong! It's not "Planned Obselescence". It is called Progress. New processors are hundreds of times more powerful and orders of magnitude cheaper to make. My Dell PC has more processing power than a $10,000,000 computer from the 70's and it cost $700. I develop hard drives for a living. When I started out a 10MByte drive cost $10,000. Now you can buy a 2TB drive for $120 or less. We did not plan for that to happen in 1982 but it did. (2TB vs 100MB is a factor of 200,000) Products are designed with the resources and technology that is available at the time. They are not designed for the future.
  21. Go into the Custom Tone Library and download a bunch of great stuff. That's what I did when I got my 500x. Great way to learn how to create much better patches than the garbage that comes loaded on your HD500.
  22. Yes all the HD500 tones work with the HD500x!
