  1. I'm with you 100%. PODHD and a Marshall but just using the power amp section. And it took me about a year before I was really happy with everything. Now new stuff is coming out that makes me want to change things. Logidy EPSi Version C Studio Devil Amplifire I'm a recovering knobulator and haven't tweaked in months.
  2. Nice article about the Logidy EPSi Version C http://www.Frugalguitarist.com/post/2014/04/08/Logidy-EPSi.aspx This unit is a stereo stomp box that does high quality Impulse Responses (IRs), including user installable IRs, for $200 bucks. I'm going to order one. This sounds like a "must-have" for anyone using modelers other than AXE-FX - like all of us using the PODHD. Atleast from what I can tell. If anyone has any hands-on experience with this, please let us know.
  3. Hmmm, very nice. Thanks for the info. I'm going to take a good look at this.
  4. Don't expect to just run out and buy a PODHD, flip to a preset, and it sounds great. You will have to spend time creating tones and that can take some time. But once you get it dialed in, it does sounds really nice direct or through an amp.
  5. Best answer so far goes to gunpointmetal. I about spewed my drink on the monitor while laughing.
  6. We're the headliner, although not a national act per se. So I told this venue that if this is a requirement, I need to cancel. Now he's backing off and said "He wants to find a way to build a relationship that works for both of us". Whatever that means... I just know I'm not selling tickets.
  7. Not only do they want us to pre-sell tickets, we get paid by how many tickets we sell. Like when am I going to be able to do that ? When I'm at another gig and go around asking people to buy tickets for some other venue. Yeah, I'd get thrown out of there and never be allowed to come back. Needless to say, I was confused at first what they were asking for. In the 30+ years of performing, I've never been asked to pre-sell tickets. I've worked for the door more than a few times. I was just wondering if this was the new way of doing things or other people have had to do this. I'm going to take your advice, stumblinman, I'm going to run away from that venue.
  8. While we're on the subject of not being on the original subject. Do any of you who gig regularly ever been asked to sell tickets for your events ?
  9. Knobulating will make you go blind and grow hair on your knuckles.
  10. Or, it takes just one guitar player to change a light bulb but he goes on for hours about how great he did it.
  11. We don't play guitar to avoid responsibility, we play guitar to get chicks. Unless that changed and I didn't get the memo...
  12. My drummer has 4 drum sets. Everytime we go to play a gig, he's deciding on which kit to bring. I always bring the same guitar and amp. Actually now that I've dialed in the tones I want with the PODHD, I don't touch it anymore. Other guitar players I've worked with are the same, regardless of the equipment they use. I think maybe we just see more of this on this forum because this is where people go to figure out things like tone. Kind'a like going to a hospital and saying there's a lot of sick people. I keep my eyes open for new equipment but I don't plan on buying or tweaking until something noticeably better comes out.
  13. Hey medbad5150, I think you posted in the wrong thread. Either that or someone needs to explain to me what and who you're responding to in this one.
  14. Pedals, I just can't do that anymore. They always seemed noisy to me. The PODHD, combined with my Marshall amps, finally gives me low noise, no unwanted feedback, and no hassles. Atleast no hassles after I spent months tweaking it but hey I spent years tweaking pedals. Good luck and let us know how it goes. I've learned a lot of things reading posts from people doing all kinds of things that I hadn't thought to try yet.
  15. I'd like to hear about how it goes with the other choices out there. I've looked at the Boss, Eleven Rack, GSP1101 and others and tone wise felt they were a version behind plus I like the way I can place any effect anywhere in the chain with Line6 with no restrictions, other than eventually running out of DSP. Don't get me wrong, I'm not totally happy with Line6 but I don't see any other choices that are as good or better, unless you spend a lot more money.
  16. Pursue what options from what other companies ? Unless you're going to spend a LOT more money on AXE or Kemper, there's nothing else that compares. Line6 knows this. Until that changes, there's no reason for Line6 to do anything.
  17. Although I'm very happy with the tone I get out of the PODHD, I'm also looking for user installable IRs. I've used this in my DAW and it makes a very nice difference. It would be great to have this live. Atleast for me it made getting the tone I wanted easier to build and sounded better in the end.
  18. Maybe if we had a better EQ in the PODHD the existing distortions and ODs could sound better.
  19. I like the Line6 Distortion Modeler versus Analog Originals video. IMO - That's as close as you can get. I can't think of how many thousands of dollars I've spent on equipment over the 40 years of playing guitar in everything from blues to country to metal. I use two things now, a Marshall and my PODHD. I wish I still had the pedals so I could sell them on eBay to the people that still think they are so much better.
  20. The file extension has to be changed. Just use Explorer and Rename the file.
  21. I think a better blind test would be with distortions and overdrives.
  22. I got three wrong but, to me, the differences are insignificant. I could have gone either way and was just lucky I only got three wrong.
  23. The magic glass bottles are great which is why I combine them with the PODHD. Together they can put out some incredible tones, including live stereo. Which is awesome through stereo P.A. systems that have become common today. Hey whatever combination sounds good is the right combination.
  24. Same here, I'm lucky and don't need the fixes in firmware past 2.10. Now if they came out with an improvement like a better EQ I'd be all over it. I'm thrilled at what I have for under $500 bucks. Gott'a take it for what it is.
