  1. if all else fails call or open a service ticket: http://line6.com/company/contact/ because checking the forums is not the same as actually asking Line6 for help.
  2. basically they've decided not to add the ability to interface with the older original variax workbench software to the 500x. to my knowledge this is the only difference. the 500x will be able to interface with variax workbench HD when that is pod ready.
  3. pod farm license is only as a plugin.... to be opened within your recording software... the standalone (opened by clicking the icon) program is not licensed.
  4. it will be the same. best plan is to run from the direct out on the DT amp to the PA.
  5. just install the latest firmware, and tell it not to preserve your presets and all will be installed to your device. be sure and backup your presets first if you want to save them.
  6. the license is tied to your user account and registration date. there was never a code with the CD, the hardware itself houses the license.
  7. you can put a 2.5 license on a gen1 ilock.... however, i would advise simply getting the hardware independent license... software can be authorized to 4 devices at once time without relocating your ilok. that and the biggest bonus is that you can use model packs... with the ilok its either standard or platinum... no model packs.
  8. Have you tried the velcro trick? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHPS4JRYbQY
  9. you don't... you download them to your amp via the fbv mkii the fbv mkii itself is only a controller and has no memory. the rest of your answer would depend on what amp you have...
  10. I use 2 separate devices, i use a tascam us1800, and i have a pod hd pro x, going into that via spdif (dry) and analog inputs for my processed sound. i'm pretty sure that if you select the tracks as mono meaning 1 and 2 instead of 1/2 you should be able to record a dual tone as separate tracks. so that's the DAW piece the pod farm piece will of course factor in.
  11. I agree... :) (based on my own speculation....)
  12. I think you can do that as well... with some creative panning and recording the tracks in mono. not sure which device you're using. I no longer actively use the toneport or x-series for recording so i can't be more specific. which means i only use pod farm as a post recording tool, rather than for my initial tones.
  13. yeah, that's easily done. just record one track as usb stream 1/2 and another track as 3/4 that way you record both... and you can monitor just the processed... if you don't want the processed tone you don't have to record it...
  14. I don't think that you'd get the "tonedirect" part... because that has to do with returning the processed sound with low latency... however you can use it without, and the performance will be great... afterall you are bypassing the processing altogether.
  15. assuming it's an MKII of course none of this applies if you just want to use it with the amp....
  16. they are not doing anything further to the x3 or xt line. they recently announced they are ending all support for both. get one of the pod HD models, they do have a harmonizer.
  17. it's beyond basic... patches ABCD access... hold any foot for tuner, and the wah pedal is volume, unless you engage the toe then its wah.... nothing else.
  18. all very different feel... alot the same for sound (models) if you like the ibanez RG style necks... then get the 89F more of a fender guy... 69 gibson... 59 roughly... basically get the one that's going to be the most comfortable for you. from the sounds of things... the 89F looks like a slam dunk for you.
  19. i had a similar issue at first, i went into syspref and pulled up the line6 audio midi control... the buffer was set to extra small.. moved it one notch to the right and problem cleared up.
  20. I don't expect there will ever be one. been years now.
  21. i think you ought to let the service center give you the ideas... too hard to guess at this point... but if you've tried a different correct power supply, i'd suspect that they will tell you you need a new mainboard. in my experience this ends up costing more than a second hand unit... but again... only a guess.
  22. you'll need some adapters... the interface has RCA connections, don't believe that the floor pod does.... make sure you hook your speakers and the pod to the interface.... then get recording software.... recommend reaper: http://reaper.fm
  23. you might need to reinstall the drivers, should require a reboot.
