  1. google has some info: http://www.instructables.com/id/Line-6-Spider-Amp-Hack/ http://www.vlotech.nl/?q=node/272 looks like 2 pairs are power and the other pairs are transmit/receive.
  2. i believe that there is someplace on the website that says the hardware independent version cannot use model packs... that's incorrect, the hardware independent version CAN use model packs. I've seen questions about this error a few times.
  3. I assumed you were already aware of that, but RCA to 1/4" mono TS connectors are pretty common.... if you wanted certainty you can get this as well: http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-PP400-Ultra-Compact-Phono-Preamp/dp/B000H2BC4E/ref=cm_srch_tsr_rtr (or a similar phono preamp) you'd still need the above adapters, but that will get you in at line level.
  4. Perhaps you have an older version of Monkey? I haven't used an x3 in a long time, but gearbox was always presented as an option. some people prefer line6 edit and it works too... although apples pretty strict with the java thing, so that's where most of the issues come from.
  5. i think you can, phono level is pretty low though... i'd be worried about cranking the gain/trim possibly introducing noise...only way to know is to try though.
  6. or perhaps not long enough! hahah... just saying the metal shop is a model pack for the older XT series... also works with pod farm.
  7. you dont want to use usb 3.0 no advantages and it sometimes causes issues. windows 8.1 works fine. no telling if you'll have issues... too many variables to know until you give it a try... different ram, chipsets, drivers installs, etc etc... in all likeliness you'll be fine.. but some machines just have issues regardless of age etc.
  8. Not unless you have a previous backup.
  9. it's not the same guitar.... at all... that position has a hollowbody P90 model rather than buckers... or vice versa... forget... but either way very different.
  10. the 89 has those 5 high gain models (models of its own mags for alt tunings) factory installed... however the models are available to all the JTV's... just not factory installed.. but readily available. and yes all the JTV's alt tune... the 89's have different default alt tunings.. .more geared towards metal rather than open tunings... but you can do any tuning you wish.
  11. I know a guy that has 4 DT's (and many of you jknow him too... Crusty)
  12. those function switches are hardwired to certain features... one switches to the looper (pod hd), and i can't recall what 2 does... for some reason drawing a blank.... what the board can do though... is not really the right question... its what your amp or pod does... that's the question... since the board is just a dumb controller.
  13. you don't really... the x3 was a dual processor unit... albiet running lower resolution models through lower rated processors... that dual processor was what allowed that to happen.

engaging the tuner is the fastest way to a dry tone.
  15. not while purchasing it... but you will need to plug it in to authorize it.... meaning it wont work until you plug it in... but you can purchase it first and authorize it later.
  16. i use it like that and basically turn down the volume on itunes or youtube player... but its overall easy enough for me to manage, as i have the pro rackmounted right underneath the monitor making that master volume easy to get at...
  17. it is the official USER forum.... you will not likely get info directly from Line6 here.... if that's what you';re looking for start here: http://line6.com/company/contact/
  18. nope... exactly the same tones and amp models... the pro X has a little more horsepower so you can run a little more in the effects chain... but mostly its more inputs and outputs.
