I mostly agree with you, although i can get the same level of comfort from 11's on a shorter scale instrument. I also have some instruments that their nature says 9's to me... my ibanez RG for instance... of course the modern take is to put 16 gauge strings and drop it 4 octaves hahaha... i'm old school i guess.

Acustic Sounds : Jtv Vs Variax300
TheRealZap replied to guilhordas's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
as near as possible... still the physical guitar to factor in... but yeah the models would be the same... you'd of course be able to alt tune them on the fly unlike the 300 -
Acustic Sounds : Jtv Vs Variax300
TheRealZap replied to guilhordas's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
the JTV firmware has the latest "HD" acoustic models... if you want the same acoustic models as the earlier variax you would need to roll back to firmware 1.7x you'll of course lose features and support... but all the electric models are due to get the same "HD" makeover soon. -
Then you will get the stack output mode.
-
the DT50 will set the output mode automatically when using L6LINK... so the mode depends on whether you have the combo or the head.
-
are you at least using the full 48 seconds? I use the boss rc300, but @550$ its a bit steep... you can get the rc3/rc30 cheaper used if you need it... lots of looper features the hd500 will never have (quantization for instance... with no rythym generation, the feature is worthless IMO) plus the hd500 is also a mono looper... the looper is an extra... not a main selling point for most.

I tend to stick with the 10-46 gauge here.... tried loads of brands etc haven't found any that stood out for me a whole lot.... probably like the durability of the elixirs, and the tone of the d'addarios anyway... getting my gretsch g5120 setup it appears that it comes factory with 11-49 low tension.... haven't seen any steel strings that say low tension.... just looking for opinions etc.... anyone heard of these?: http://www.curtmangan.com/ they seem to be well reviewed

I'm sure that would be a fine cable. I've used some cables that were less than great... tend to get some hum out of them.. a little noise maybe... all gets buried at volume.... but the cable is carrying data, so it just works in most cases.
-
It's designed to work with an XLR cable for ease of access, so that you can pick up a standard mic cable rather than a proprietary cable anywhere at anytime. I used a regular mic cable with no issues... i went with the DMX cable because i wanted a shorter cable and i wanted to see if there was much of a difference... really wasnt much in my case.... but that experience can depend alot on the qualities of your original mic cable as phil points out.

Jtv-59 Oem String Gauge
TheRealZap replied to xpanmanx's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I'm fairly confident that you are correct, but can't seem to locate any document to point you to. -
captain obvious says L3S is for subwoofer, just to be complete! haha.
-
now i remember where i saw your other videos before... its the blue velcro dude! hahah nice, great job on the videos by the way... and a nice little setup. how you liking the L3T? (by the way L3M, the M is for monitor, no idea what the T is for.)

here's a 5' cable... i ordered the 10' myself... they might have other options... but the brand and cable type work great: http://www.amazon.com/Accu-Cable-Ac3Pdmx5-Five-Foot/dp/B0013Y033Q/ref=pd_cp_MI_1%3Ftag=68656c7064757-20

TheRealZap replied to petericeman's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
get monkey, monkey will update the usb software if its needed. -
honestly didn't think i would like the red, but yours looks great!

removes the mic/air emulation and eq's it for a typical open back cab. (stack would eq for closed back) not every combo/stack is like this though... so go by ear.

Can The Effects/patches Be Assigned To Specific Outputs
TheRealZap replied to raymon68's topic in POD HD
so you want an effect chain/model through the left side, and a dry signal through the right pretty much? that's possible, many use that to record the dry track. -
we can speculate all day.. just because some of that speculation goes against your desires, doesn't make me upset about anything.
-
well amplitube and guitar rig don't offer their plugins up as a pod... not really that odd dude.... they are obviously taking their time to get it right, or consider what they will actually do... no guarantee they will include it with the pods either... might be a standalone product.... i honestly don't know anything about their plans... but no reason to be all melodramatic.
-
You can only do 1 effect at a time with the m5 although you can use the built in noise gate with the 1 effect. No idea how it compares to the fm4 though.
-
One may come eventually.
-
there is no HD plugin... you would have to record the direct out of the HD pod and then match that with your other tools to come close to what you are trying to do.

could your input Z be the source of the problem?
