  1. there something you just can't get any other way besides a tube amp.... I see what you're saying, and the PE might add some benefits for using acoustics... there is something crazy good about the tube sound though that you might wish you had... any reason you aren't also considering the new stagesource speakers? they aren't tube, but they have put some work into the available modes that might help....
  2. 1. yes typically use cabs.. that's what modeling gear is about... although if it sounds better to you without... rock on. not experienced with #2 other than finding plenty of amp/distortion models that worked for me.
  3. I do not see the error in which you are referring. but there is a "put" option in gearbox to send to the x3
  4. the issues have been addressed in production, and only applies to a certain range of serial numbers.

you can get it for 1$ +ship at amazon: http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Standard-Memory-Canon-PowerShot/dp/B000VR1TGQ and more than likely many other online places as well....
  6. dry is basically recording the input (before any processing)... and wet is recording the output (typically including all effects)
  7. I've seen it a number of times, the answer is not always the same. Have you tried doing the update from the file, or from another machine?
  8. No redface toneports qualify for the version 2 upgrade for free. the plugin was also not included with the redface version... you need to pay for the upgrade if you want the plugin.
  9. ASIO isn't just a driver... it's a specification... and if your hardware falls short, all the driver in the world won't fix it.... that's why there is horrible reverse engineered fake drivers like ASIO4ALL that go around those specifications....
  10. you can discuss your ideas with users here, or submit them to the developers here: http://line6.com/company/contact/productfeedback/
  11. they aren't likely to change them again... just released them in 1.8x and tweaked them a little after that. who knows though... the new version of workbench coming with update 2.0 may allow us to make adjustments...
  12. it's impossible to lose the factory models. If you bought the device used and it had extra models unlocked from the previous owner, then there is no way to recover those without contacting the previous owner.
  13. using midi you can change the 4 default models etc within the amp itself... midi doesn't add anything if you intend to use the amp+pod
  14. and on top of that... it's just temporarily like that.... they will release the models and a version of workbench that supports them at some point... i'd guess as part of the 2.0 upgrade thats coming soon.... but haven't seen anything stating it.
  15. If they can they will... i'm confident in that... the m20d is only their first of this type of device.. and it makes sense that they are taking notes and moving forward.
  16. Sounds like you might want to pick up a spare while they are still floating around the used market.
  17. it's a complicated device... i personally think that these so called issues were exaggerated. but in any case there have been some tweaks, and will probably continue to be tweaks for all eternity because it's an entirely subjective "issue"
  18. so don't use it in the daw... transfer it there after the fact like its designed to do. you apparently want to do overdubs or something after the fact... it's just not that device.... wasn't designed to be that device... but i'm certain that if it's possible to do... they would be working on it.
  19. I don't even currently have the device, and the feature sounds pretty awesome (as is, not as i wished it was) and far from useless to me....
  20. you probably need to set your internal mac card to 48 as well, it may be switching back and forth as it detects the settings of the other card? being a USB device the ux8 isn't as instantly available to osx as the builtin audio facilities... just an idea though... i find apple in general to be alot more effort than windows.
  21. 1. the DT50 is real loud, and being a tube amp you pretty much want to run it as wide open as you can. given the gig size in question i would vote for the DT25. 2. both amps have a low volume mode for this purpose, perfectly suitable for practicing.... of course creating your tones is best done at the volume you want them to be. 3. typical service such as tube replacement and biasing can be done anywhere. there are some things you'd have to get direct from line6 but you can also send it to any number of authorized service centers and not directly to line6: http://line6.com/service_centers/
  22. you can record direct to SD or USB... I think you probably had the wrong expectations and could have done a bit more research.
  23. the physical instrument of course affects the sound... but very mildly when you are playing the same basic underlying model.... heck if they both sounded 100% identical... the feel would affect my playing and create slight differences... it's no harm to try it, i personally would just get used to the new acoustics :) i mean i wouldn't want to miss out on whatever comes next.
  24. the electric models are already the same... the update to the electric models has not been released. you will of course lose some functionality and fixes... but for the most part it will be equivalent to the 300 so if that was good enough then you're golden. *some of that functionality is the ability to use the variax as a expression/controller. and an example of a "fix" would be the improved pam muting would be gone back to variax 1st gen levels.
