There is no guitar port online any more. The service was discontinued. Do you have the latest version of gearbox? I don't know anything else helpful for Mac users.

Never heard if such a thing. What makes you think they are making one?

you should see a knob on the tuner screen that will mute it.

good luck with that... finding a variax 700 acoustic in a store was probably hard before they were discontinued (a few years ago...)

I don't know anyone, but i'm familiar with them and they've been around a while... have seen lots of vids etc... think they're legit... just no firsthand.

it just shows the person seeing it THEIR information... no one else's... its sort of a warning sign... saying you're not as anonymous as you think.... it's harmless enough... (not to say i like it...) it appears to be tri's signature of choice... so you'll see it everywhere.

first thing i notice you are doing very wrong is that you are using ASIO4ALL. get rid of that and use the line6 drivers.

You may be able to use THE PLUGIN with both plugged in, I haven't tried... but the standalone pod farm would require you to use the GX I believe....

I would go with a matched set, but a good amp tech would be able to dial them in to make them work either way... but the tubes can have their own characteristics which is why i would want a matched set.

Sorry, I skipped over some of the questions you had, the root question comes up from time to time and that's what my answer was geared towards. If the volume is the same with LVM (low volume mode) engaged, then something is clearly wrong. you shouldn't be anywhere near full volume and still be in the same room! i would seek out a service center: http://line6.com/service_centers/ although it certainly appears that a tube replacement would be a good idea as well.

the topology from the front of the amp selects more than just the topology it selects the pre-amp etc... amps get there sounds from a variety of different approaches. the basic approach difference you are witnessing is that some amps have a loud preamp fed into a loud poweramp... and others a loud preamp into a quiet poweramp or anywhere inbetween... it is normal that the settings on the front of the amp, are not suitable for every combination that exists.... so yes... if you change power amp or preamp configuration... expect to turn the knobs again...

you cant run the software without the line6 interface unless you buy the software without the line6 interface... the interface owns the license. you must use the audio connection on the GX for your speakers... same hardware needs to be used for in and out... for better latency control etc... nou can research how to aggregate your sound on the mac, and circumvent this but you'd be introducing possible issues etc... not supported...

not a huge fan of the red... never seen one with a maple fretboard though.

should not be a problem, you might want to set the input exclusively to the instrument you want on your tone to avoid any issues... unless you use the same tone for both... then you might have a little bleed in or something if its not 100% at 0 volume.

something i read on the old forum that might help: Press the Setting/Tone button twice then turn the wheel to see the different options for the pedal. I'd start there with setting it to FBV-Normal

I think you'd be on your own trying this... don't know why it wouldn't work... but certainly don't think L6 can support doing this.

please do NOT use the disc... download the latest here: http://line6.com/software/ you have to at least get the device drivers.... but could do without the rest if you wanted... i'd suggest getting line6 monkey and letting it update you.

you probably have monitoring turned on in reaper (its either an M icon or a speaker icon on the track forget which) but this might double up your tone and result in the mess you're hearing.
