  1. it uses a line6 PX2, which basically powers the variax... it's a special adapter that delivers AC power so your standard generic DC power units wont work.
  2. also be sure to notice the common mislabeling on the midi connections... meaning rather than midi in, they are labeled "to midi in" which means they are the opposite of what you think... since its always in to out or out to in... never in in or out out
  3. may be worth calling and asking for an exception to the policy... http://line6.com/company/contact/ no guarantees... but chances go up if you try!
  4. Does look like it sees it over USB... otherwise wouldnt show the ESN. try different ports? older driver versions? make sure you have any usb filter type software uninstalled (common on AMD computers)
  5. pro tools 11 only sees aax plugins... pod farm does not offer the format.... sorry, you can't use it... unless you use pro tools 10
  6. pod farm 2 will not edit files on the device.
  7. you may need to update via midi the first time, since early firmwares did not recognize usb
  8. all sorts of stuff you probably won't use.... you can change settings on other hardware, operate lighting, trigger things in your DAW, etc... it does not route over USB so you can't utilize it as a midi recording tool.
  9. there are no licenses for the pod 2.0 so no need to worry about that... monkey just helps with updates.
  10. true overlooked that.... take for granted that nearly all amplifi owners up to this point had to have an iOS device.
  11. As you can read from Tony's quote below.... there will be no gearbox updates.
  12. you dont need the amplifi utility... its just a faster way to update.... use bluetooth to update and then you should be fine.... takes a bit longer... but works.
  13. known issue, there was a hardware fix for this. check with a service center: http://line6.com/find/service_center/
  14. there is most likely a creative way to get it to work... the program itself didn't change... the apple OS did... someone will likely figure it out... someone smarter than I... i wouldn't give up hope... worst case, there's always parallel
  15. I've done it many times... the conversion works... it is NOT supported.... but there are generally no issues.... going from a pro x to a pro, is where you are more likely to have issues. (DSP limit)
  16. the new HD pods do not use gearbox... and there is a current editor available for all of them. just for clarification though... none of the tones in gearbox (or hardware that uses gearbox) were ever able to be transferred and used on the pod HD's those are completely different... so if you meant to backup your gearbox device and transfer to a new pod HD... that was never an option anyway.
  17. there is no new application that replaces gearbox, sorry.
  18. the drivers still work for it. :) I don't think it's supported any longer... but should still do everything you want it to do anyway.
  19. gearbox has not officially been supported since 10.7: http://line6.com/support/topic/9951-pod-x3-live-osx-yosemite/page-3?do=findComment&comment=71304 in other words... it is what it is... good luck, maybe you'll figure it out and share it for everyone else... but there won't be an official response.
  20. If you need new tubes, a bias, and a fuse... i'd just take it to the shop... because it's a possibility that the transformer is having issues.... when it happened to my DT50, i replaced the fuse a few times... and there was definitely other issues... ended up being transformer in my case... i believe that the "P" means slow blow.... but it's been a while since i tracked down the fuse... so not 100% certain.
  21. best to use a USB 2.0 port if you have one... USB 3.0 isn't as backwards compatible as you'd think...
  22. the secret to the m-audio uno is the drivers... if you don't get the correct drivers from the m-audio site... it will likely perform the same as the cheaper models.. (meaning this is probably where the bad reviews come in) the uno is a great investment because you most likely will find other uses for it over time.
  23. there is also a conversion utility (3rd party) here: http://line6.com/support/topic/2164-pod-hd-tone-conversion-utility/
  24. yes, you can turn on and off individual octave strings... in fact... it's a common "hack" to turn off all the octave strings on the 12 string models to get a couple of extra 6 string acoustic models.
