  1. Well, when you use a footswitch as a controller, it doesn't necessarily have on/off states. It has min and max settings. Generally, the max corresponds to the footswitch being activated and the LED ring lighting up, but with snapshots, it's easy for things to get mixed up. One thing is that each snapshot can by saved with a specific value for that parameter outside of the footswitch state. So using this footswitch with the Snapshot Edits parameter set to Recall, you're actually re-saving the snapshot value whenever you use the footswitch. The footswitch is really just always going to toggle between the min and max settings. It doesn't really track with snapshot changes. That's been my experience, anyway.
  2. You need to use Line 6 Monkey to update the 500X, not Updater.

    Snapshot copy

Just to be clear, you entered Snapshot Mode by hitting FS1 and FS7 together? Because if you have Preset Mode view set to 8 Snapshots in Global Settings, it looks identical to Snapshot Mode.
  4. There's a lifetime warranty for this particular issue regardless if its secondhand, third-hard, fourth-hand etc... If an LT breaks this way, they'll replace it. I've only seen one instance where they couldn't, and that was because the owner was in Iran. In that case, it's illegal for Line 6 to ship anything into Iran because of sanctions.

    Snapshot copy

From what I understand, the copy functions works in the actual Snapshot Mode on the unit, but not in the Preset Mode views that show snapshots.
  6. Trying not to speak from my Line 6 fanboy perspective, lol, but I personally never understood the appeal of the Katana. I spent a while playing one at GC (which I know isn't always the best measure), and it seemed to be nothing special to me. I disliked the fact that they use hidden "sneaky" amps that can only be accessed by the editor, and I thought it was weird that there was no way to no which exact type of effects was saved in the effects slots. For example, there's no visual cues to tell you if you have a tremolo or a chorus assigned to the modulation knob.
  7. If it’s under a year old, it will still be covered by warranty, whatever the issue is. Open a ticket, and they’ll take care of it.
  8. Are you sure the setting is set to Transparent? The update resets your Global Settings, and Authentic is the default setting.
  9. Go to Global Settings>Preferences>Snapshot Edits and set it to Discard.
  10. By default, hitting the up arrow goes to the next higher number in the bank or preset list. If you want to reverse this behavior, you can now with the 2.80 update.
  11. Just an update... From what I've seen so far, Line 6 is aware of the issue you described. I think it should be dealt with shortly.
  12. No, the Mix at 100 should be 100% wet. At 0, it's 100% dry, 0% wet. At 50, it 100% dry and 100% wet (100% meaning max level). At 100, it's 0% dry, 100% wet. As far as this particular issue, I don't know. I'd have to look at it. OP, are you sure you don't have a dry signal coming from a parallel path somewhere?
  13. For re-amping purposes, you want that signal to be low. It's essentially at unity gain with the signal coming straight from your guitar. When you feed back into the Helix, or use it with an amp modeling plug-in, it will work correctly.
  14. When you updated, did you do a reset and then restore from backup? I've played several gigs since updating (played one just yesterday), and I haven't seen anything like this. I switch snapshots all the time...
  15. Just do a factory reset. Hold down FS7 & FS8 while powering up.
  16. If that's the older DT template, that was made for controlling the DT amps via MIDI. I don't believe there is a template for controlling them via L6 Link. It's not really needed. Just go to the output block and page over to the DT settings (in HX Edit, click on the DT25/50 tab). There you'll see all the relevant power amp parameters.
  17. Well, I personally played a few gigs with various beta versions of the software. It seems to me that most of the issues have been pretty minor (which is a relative term, I guess). The one with the EXP1/EXP2 not going to the correct state seems to be the most serious one. That's something I never caught simply because I always use two external expression pedals with my Helix. The reason the update stops in the middle has to do with the new QWERTY commands feature. If they didn't do it that way, it runs the risk of causing more conflicts and instability with various operating systems down the road. I honestly don't know what you mean by the Helix running slower... Definitely not something I notice. I think a lot of the things people are calling bugs are things that go away after a factory reset. I've noticed a few issues like that myself. Any beta program is going to have bugs that get through. Apple has thousands of people using beta versions of iOS before a major release, yet you always read articles about some bug breaking something after the releases are in the wild. It's just life when dealing with software.
  18. NO NEED TO SHOUT! What interface are you using?
  19. Sorry to hear that you're having a difficult time. Could you provide some more detail? What type of computer/OS are you using, and what have you tried so far?
  20. This CC Toggle thing does indeed look like a pretty obvious bug to me... It's not clear to me if jdosher was explaining the same thing or not reading his post about CCs. It sounded like he wasn't getting the CC messages to fire at all with snapshots for some reason. You mentioned you gave the Helix to your son. What's the last firmware you tried this with? The CC Toggle thing is in the same neighborhood the EXT AMP thing, but I actually think that seems to working as designed (regardless if one agrees with that design or not).
  21. Line 6 generally doesn't sell most parts directly to customers. I know Full Compass stocks some parts for some things. But service centers can still work on the AMPLIFi series. If Line 6 is still making and selling them, they're still fixing them.
  22. Abandoned support in what way? In the sense that there hasn't been a firmware update for a while? I don't know how many firmware updates should be expected for a line like the AMPLIFi. It's hard to gauge how many people have problems with the line just from that forum because it's a pretty slow forum overall. The fact that Line 6 is still selling the amps says something about the line though... If it wasn't making money for them because of warranty claims and/or returns, they'd discontinue it. As far as the G10, Line 6 did actually reinforce the micro USB jack on the production line. Again, I have no idea how common the failure actually was. Things such as that have a tendency to get amplified online. I've had my G10 for over three years and still use it all the time, and I've not any issues with it. I don't know all the specific issues people have posted in regards to the Variax, as I haven't followed those threads all that closely. It still seems to me to be something that's not affecting everyone, at least not in the same way. Honestly, I've been on these boards for quite a long time now, and if I believed all the dire sounding posts people up here, I would think Line 6 is doing much worse than they are. You kind of have to let some negative posts roll off your back because it's just par for the course for the internet. Negativity has more of an impact than positive posts.
  23. I don't think Line 6 considers either of those lines disasters... I mean, the AMPLIFi is still being sold, and the Variax has done pretty well. As far as the piezo plink, that's something that exists, and is something that's a difficult problem, and I don't think there was ever going to be an easy fix. Some players' style seem to make it more of issue for them than others.
  24. Yes, it's possible to change all those power amp parameters in the Helix preset (or per snapshot). You can also assign them to controllers if you want. As far as cab modeling, generally you'd want to not use it in the Helix with the DT amps, but you can experiment, I suppose.
