  1. For owning a lot of Line 6 gear, you seem to be displaying ignorance about the actual product lines. All the Variax guitars currently being sold come with the VDI interface, and that has been the case since the JTV series was first released back in 2010. The original Variax guitars didn’t come with the interface, but there really weren’t a ton of updates for those guitars. Also, it was always possible to update them with other hardware. But those guitars have been discontinued for like over 12 years now. In the MI world, it’s plenty common for gear to require not only external hardware, but third party external hardware for updates. There’s still plenty of stuff that requires a MIDI to USB adapter to receive updates. No one is suing Strymon because they don’t provide an M-Audio MIDISport Uno with the TimeLine or BigSky… And they wouldn’t have a case of they did.
  2. Good luck with that lawsuit... What exactly is the reason you can't reflash your Variax?
  3. Sounds like you have spillover enabled. You need to Global Settings>Preferences>Preset Spillover and select Disabled to get Path 2 back.
  4. Seems like a pretty esoteric feature that’s not all that likely to be added, to be honest. I can’t see I’ve seen it in other hardware, at least not that I can think of. Can’t you just set the starting CC value for that parameter accordingly at the beginning of the track and then control however you need it throughout the entire track? I’d also add that if you’re doing a lot of this sort of automation, it seems like it would be a whole lot easier to do it with the automation lanes in Native rather than actually sending CCs to the hardware.
  5. Really? I'm kind of surprised given that it's a simple accessory. But I wouldn't worry about registering it too much. It's basically just two latching footswitches with an LED. It would really only matter in the event that it would need serviced for some reason.
  6. Hmmm… I’m not sure if that’s something that can be registered or not. Does it have a serial number?
  7. Well, first, the trial version of Metallurgy is full-featured, so it should let you record with it just fine. What DAW are you using? It sounds like perhaps you have some setup issues going on with it.
  8. Are you holding the ALT/LEGACY button to set the subdivision setting?
  9. As mentioned above, you need to keep the hardware for at least 180 days in order to keep your discounted Native license. I believe if you sell or return the hardware before that, you have two options - pay the full price for the Native license or give it up. The 180 days is dictated by the fact that some retailers have return periods that long. https://shop.line6.com/helixnativeterms.html?_ga=2.217000916.318870466.1647483881-1112218623.1520903176
  10. This happens sometimes on Macs. Go and delete the old installation packages from your Downloads folder and make sure the old Native installer is deleted from your Desktop. Then you can try downloading the latest version again.
  11. Ironically, monophonic synths with patch cables have kind of had something of a renaissance over the last 10 years or so. There’s been a ton of new analog synths released. There’s probably a lot more available now than in the synth heyday. I think most people want electric guitars to sound like electric guitars. There’s an expected tonality of the instrument. That varies from genre to genre, but on some level, it’s like if you hire a cellist… You don’t hire them because you want them to sound like a saxophone. You want the sound of a cello. So for most things, people want the sound of an electric guitar. I think as far as controlling rigs and effects and all that, we’ve come s long way in the last decade or so. Stuff that was only available to pros at astronomical prices is available to anyone now. To get something like the Helix snapshot feature, for instance, would have required some pretty specialized gear even 15 years ago.
  12. So you can't stretch that window out? That looks like it's cropping the window, not really shrinking it.
  13. The editor isn’t using MIDI, so I wouldn’t expect the WIDI adapter to do give wireless access to the editor, unfortunately. It would work for MIDI control, though.
  14. When you say control the parameters via the Helix, how much do you want to do? All of the parameters in the BigSky can be controlled by MIDI CC, so you just have to map them to footswitches or expression pedals in the Command Center on the Helix. I have the BigSky connected to my Rack, but I just recall preset via MIDI by using Instant Commands. I have mapped MIDI CCs to the expression pedals to control specific parameters, too. It’s all relatively straightforward. What’s tripping you up?
  15. Good point… I do remember Frank from Line 6 saying they had that reverse polarity protection now that I think about it.
  16. Push the expression pedal forward to activate the hidden toe switch under the toe portion of the pedal.
  17. The PX-2g is 9V AC, and the HX Effects uses 9V DC. There may be a rectifier at the HX Effects’ power input jack as a safety measure, but using 9V AC could result in an undervoltage. It’s probably not damaged, but it’s generally not good to just hook up power supplies you don’t will work.
  18. The EXP Position setting has nothing to do with the footswitch behavior. That only applies if you have expression pedals connected. Go to Global Settings >Preference>EXP/FS Tip and make sure it’s set to FS7. Make sure the EXP/FS Ring setting is set to FS8. Beyond that are you using a TRS cable to connect the footswitch? When you say you tried setting something up in the Command Center, what have you tried? Do you currently have commands assigned to FS7 and FS8?
  19. What issues are you having? Do you have the FX Loop block in your preset on the HX Effects?

    Helix Trouble

The Helix becomes your audio interface, so it will stream audio to and from your computer. If you’re using Bluetooth headphones paired with your computer, those won’t stream audio from the Helix, as they’re a separate interface. You need to have headphones or speakers connected to the Helix to hear the audio from. You’ll be able to stream audio back from your computer to the Helix, so you’ll be able to play along with Spotify, but you just won’t be able to use Bluetooth headphones.
  21. They’re somewhat in the same vein, I guess. They’re probably most like the old Flextone series in some ways, but I really think Line 6 wanted to make an affordable modeling amp that didn’t necessarily feel like a modeling amp.
  22. You have the connections a bit messed up. It should go ( —> = cable) Guitar —> XL Guitar In XL FX Send L —> Amp Input Amp FX Send —> XL FX Return L XL Main Out L —> Amp FX Return
  23. Do you have the drivers installed? They come along with the POD Go Edit installation.
  24. It doesn't sound like a digital artifact to me... Sounds like what you'd expect from a gate-y fuzz like the Big Muff with a muted string like that.
