Labelling issue with new "Snapshot-controlled Snapshot Assignments" function
phil_m replied to zappazapper's topic in Helix
Snapshot Inception? Not sure where that concept is coming from, but that really doesn’t describe what this feature is. All this feature does is let you change the value of a command assigned to a footswitch in the Command Center per snapshot rather than have it be the same in every snapshot. So if a footswitch is assigned to recall Snapshot 4 in one snapshot, that same footswitch can recall Snapshot 6 in another one, and so forth (it applies to things other than snapshots as well). Can you give some more details of what you’re having problems with? -
Lol… You joined to say this? Ironically, in this thread this was the correct answer… But I guess I’ll try harder for your sake.
-
Did you do the factory reset and restore from backup after updating?
-
I knew someone would be pedantic about that… Yes, anything you want within the DSP limit. But the point is that those block aren’t limited to a certain type of effect.
-
There are some blocks that are fixed as far as what type they are, but you can use whatever type of effect you want in the four wild card slots.
-
There’s no harm in leaving the power switch on. I cery rarely turn mine off with the switch.

You can get this little device to put between your guitar and your wireless transmitter, and it will load your pickups similar to the way a fuzz pedal would. It's pretty overpriced for what it is though (basically a potentiometer in a small metal housing): https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Dragster--radial-tonebone-dragster-1-channel-load-correction-device?mrkgadid=3319278802&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=gdsa&mrkgbflag=0&mrkgcat=studio&recording&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=39700064761333972&lid=39700064761333972&ds_s_kwgid=58700007221224519&device=c&network=g&matchtype&adpos&locationid=1019973&creative=530924158000&targetid=dsa-1358843191589&campaignid=13711448813&awsearchcpc=1&gclsrc=aw.ds&&rkg_id=0&campaigntype=dsa&campaign=aaDSA&adgroup=1669547166%3ADSA+-+Product+-+Bass&placement=google&gclid=CjwKCAiAo4OQBhBBEiwA5KWu_1-jGWZ0hUKfWMO8aCYAByw1kW3w__N6uzFOOgbZS8nG1amL6mFW9RoCY9MQAvD_BwE I'm surprised that no one has made a guitar wireless system with a variable input impedance yet.

Yes, it’s fine to use a TS cable.
-
Not to ask the dumb question, but are you inserting the transmitter in the Guitar In jack? Or are you plugging it into the storage port?
-
Are there any potential sources of interference nearby? Wifi routers are probably the biggest potential issue. Do you have the wireless channel set to Auto in the Global Settings menu and are you inserting the transmitter into the Guitar In jack to let it find the best channel? I’ve had no issues with the wireless in my PGW, so it’s odd that you’ve had multiple units with the same sort of issues. It makes me think has to be something in the environment causing interference. I believe the PGW’s antenna is more sensitive than the one in the THR, so it’s more susceptible to interference.

If you’re using Windows, make sure you don’t have an SD card inserted into the SD reader slot, if you have one.

I still can’t tell if you’re saying the repeats are more saturated than the tone going into them or what… Do you have the Helix effects loop set to line or instrument level? It sounds like perhaps you’re overloading something in the signal chain. If you’re getting microphonic feedback, that probably means the signal going into your amp’s input is too hot. The 4CM method should work with the amp, but sometimes it takes a little massaging to get the gain staging right.
-
Well, I’d say it’s the opposite. The overdriven amp tone being fed into the day. The majority of saturation from a master volume amp is going to come from the preamp stage, before the effects loop. The whole point of an effects loop is to have effects after preamp distortion.
-
What delay model are you using? If it has a Headroom parameter, try increasing that, and that can clean up the repeats if the signal being fed into the delay is hot.

How to assign General volume ( the big weel on front of Helix) to a pedal
phil_m replied to l6guitarman's topic in Helix
It’s not possible to control that knob with MIDI. You can assign the Level parameter in the Output Block in your presets to be controlled by a MIDI CC. That’s probably the closest thing to having a way to control the overall volume.- 13 replies

Well, you don’t have the amp in the Helix’s loop, really. You have the Helix in the amp’s loop still, it’s just that you’re using the Helix’s return and send as the input and output. So if the OD1 channel is dirty, yes, I’d still expect the repeats from the delay to be dirty. That’s kind of the whole idea of putting a delay in the loop.
-
So if I’m understanding correctly, you’re saying you’re getting sound through the main outs but not the headphone jack?

There are mono and stereo versions of the Double Take effect. The stereo version has a Source parameter that lets you choose Mono, Stereo, Left or Right as the signal source. If you're not seeing that parameter, it means, you're using the mono version.
-
The max delay times for most models is 8 seconds in mono/4 seconds in stereo. I think the only exceptions are delays based on BBD chips or tape delays, and those vary. All of the Legacy delays are currently limited to 2 seconds.

No. The MIDI map as far as which PC messages are assigned to which preset slot is fixed. You can always move the preset around however you want them, though…

Variax input and "Guitar thru" output - Helix Rack
phil_m replied to BigBadMike's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
The Analog Thru output on the Rack is just that - it’s just passing the analog signal from the 1/4” guitar input straight through to that output. The VDI signal is digital, so it has to go through the Helix processing. You can get a DI from the VDI input by inserting a Send block as the first thing in your Helix signal chain and using the respective 1/4” send output. Using the VDI and the 1/4” out at the same time on the Variax is recommended, as I believe it has the potential to cause problems.- 1 reply

The L6 converter reverses the polarity as well as changing the barrel size. You need an additional polarity reversing cable if you want to use it.

Yes, with one caveat. You have to make sure that the dry signal is only running through one of the paths. So you could set the mix of the Helix reverb to 100, for example, and then just control the reverb with the Level parameter. Or if the Keeley pedal had a dry kill feature, you could use that.
