I just tried that, and it worked... I guess I was wrong and those relays can be held open (or closed).

You can use the channel switching per snapshot. You just have to assign the EXT AMP command to an Instant Command (as well as a footswitch) and set the switch on each snapshot how you want it (and, of course re-save the preset if you have the Snapshot Edits parameter set to Discard).

Probably soon-ish...

I think there’s simply way more HX Effects units on the street compared to the Helix units. The HX is being sold to a much larger segment of the market (the traditional pedalboard market). It just goes to reason that the more overall units that are out there, the more overall problems there will be. As far the crashing issue, it doesn’t really seem all that prevalent to me. I’ve maybe seen a dozen reports of it here, on the TGP and in the two Facebook groups combined. The number of users on Facebook dwarfs the number here and on TGP. The combined Helix group has over 16000 members and the dedicated HX group has over 1000 members.

If your amp has a preamp out, you could run that into Powercab. But you can’t connect your amp’s speaker out to the Powercab without having some sort of load box in between. There’s no way to bypass the PC’s power amp.

The easiest way to find it is to leave the first pulldown menu on the Software page set to "all hardware" and just select "HX Edit" from the middle pulldown menu.

You need to download and install the latest version of HX Edit.

Can you fit an evertune bridge into the shuriken
phil_m replied to ajonathan3693's topic in Shuriken
No, the Variax guitars use specially designed bridges with piezo saddles the accomplish the guitar modeling. -
There is a MIDI CC that corresponds to footswitches in Stomp Mode, and you can access presets and snapshots via MIDI, so in that sense, you can kind of virtually replace a footswitch. You would lose the capacitive touch features, though, and those are somewhat important to overall workflow. As far as the knobs, there’s no MIDI message associated with the knobs themselves. There are other ways to control parameters of effects, but the knobs do a lot more than just that. The MIDI implementation isn’t designed to replace the UI, but rather to give you remote control of certain features of the unit.

The short answer is yes. The HD sends out PC messages when you change presets, and the M9 will respond to those. The M9 only has 24 presets, so that will only work for the first 6 banks of presets on the HD.

Helix lt volume barely audible through celestion speaker
phil_m replied to Dannocaster's topic in Helix
If you're just connecting the LT to a passive speaker cabinet, it won't work. You need a power amp in between the LT's output and the cabinet. -
Over on TGP, the people who contacted Line 6 and sent their units back to Line 6 generally had them back within 10 days, maybe sooner depending on their location. Line 6 can only help people with problems if they know about them.

The presets aren't automatically saved to your computer. If you want to create backups (which you should), you can create a backup, which saves everything, you can export the setlists (there's only one on the HX), and you can export individual presets. You can save them wherever you want to. It's probably easiest to just use the folders that are created when you do the HX Edit installation, though.

Have you opened up a support ticket with Line 6? I would suggest doing that before doing another exchange with the retailer. I fear because of the nature of this particular issue that when retailers get returns for this reason they simply put them back in their stock rather than send them back to Line 6.

Helix footswitches can be set to act as momentary, but I don't believe the EXT AMP jack itself can behave that way. Those are latching relays, so there's no mechanism to hold them open or closed while holding down the footswitch.

You can use a TS cable. You just only get the Tip to Sleeve (ground) connection. Which in your case is all you need.
-
That should certainly work. One thing I always think is that if you're always going to be using one expression pedal for volume, you might as well just use an actual volume pedal run your audio through it. That will free up one block in the HX, and it gives you an extra expression pedal for other things. In that case, you might want to look at the Ernie Ball MVP, which has the same footprint as the Jr., but has a nice buffered input.

The Legacy effects are the ones that were modeled for the 4-button stomps and then the M-series pedals, and then eventually the HD series. The effects that were in the XT/X3 series weren't the same, even in the cases where they shared the same model names (there are a few exceptions - there were 12 M-series effects that were added to the X3 in its 2.0 update).
-
That's just a limitation of the One Button Looper. The one-button TC Electronic Ditto behaves the same way. The workaround is two hold down the footswitch on the second tap when stopping the loop playback (assuming you know you're done with that loop).

Have you opened a support ticket? You shouldn't be having any issues with freezing. I've only ever mine freeze when I was using doing some things with a beta version of an HX Edit release, never while just under normal operation.
-
HX Edit only runs on Windows or OS X. There is no mobile version of it.
-
No, there is not.

You can turn the touch capacitive touch feature off if you want. Go to Global Settings>Footswitches and set Touch Select to “Off”.
-
Yeah, it’s never worked like that. The blocks have always come in with the default parameter values. Sorry, man, you are wrong on this one. I mean, what you’re talking about has been a pretty common feature request from the start. It hasn’t ever been like that, and Line 6 hasn’t changed that behavior. I would be surprised if there isn’t something added to do something like this in the future, though.

I’ll send you my shipping address so you can send me your Helix then... :-) There have never been user defaults in the Helix. I’m not going to argue further about because it’s simply a fact. I’ve had a Helix before the firmware was even in beta. I know these things.
