  1. The AC30 is one of the quieter, if not quietest, models in the HD series. Using the mixer to even things out is probably the best way to go about it. Also, are you sure you're using the full amp model, and not the Pre version? I believe the Pre version of the AC30 is really quiet, too. Even more so than the full model.
  2. Unplugging the second expression pedal doesn't really remove EXP-2. It just makes it so it's controlled by the onboard expression pedal. Clicking the toe-switch toggles makes the pedal toggle between EXP-1 and EXP-2. So if you go to a preset where EXP-2 was assigned to control a parameter (or multiple parameters), the value of those parameters will be whatever they were when you saved the preset. If you toggle the expression pedal to go to EXP-2, then you'll start changing the parameters.
  3. The amp can be paired to as many compatible devices as you want it to. Like you said, though, you can only really use one at a time. I don't know for sure what would happen if you had two devices on at the same time. I imagine that whatever one you were paired with first would stay connected, and that you simply wouldn't be able to pair the second one to the amp until you unpaired or powered down the first one.
  4. Yes. It's offers a lot more in that area than the DD-7, too.
  5. That will only work if he has an iOS device for the remote app, though. If he only has the Android device, he'll have to go the utility route. I would say try to download the utility again. The Line 6 servers sometimes simply aren't cooperative. But eventually, it should work.
  6. The iRig mic just plugs into the iPhone's headphone jack, right? Those sorts of connections are notorious for being noisy. I don't know that there's a whole lot you can do to make that better.
  7. The utility is only at version 1.00. The firmware on the amp is at 2.0.
  8. It will most likely work. The list that Line 6 has includes devices that they've tested it on. There are so many different Android devices that it's not really realistic for them to test every single one.
  9. I would be surprised if there was, but you can always suggest it here: http://line6.ideascale.com/
  10. I think that video is actually a few years old. I'm almost certain I remember seeing it before. It looks like perhaps to just put a new intro on it (the shot with the Amplifi in the background) and put it up on their Youtube channel again.
  11. A really Leslie is an amp, but the effect on the HD was designed to work with an amp model. I don't think you'll have much luck having it sound right without one. There's nothing stopping you from trying it, though.
  12. The Stereo Delay model will let you have a different delay time for each side, but those are in parallel opposed to series, so it will sound different. But, really, I think all you need to do is assign both delays to the same footswitch. That will allow you to turn them on and off with one switch. And actually, if you wanted to, you could control your overdrive with that same footswitch as well. You can assign as many effects to one footswitch as you want.
  13. The only way to access the extra banks apart from the remote app is by using an FBV Shortboard (the original or MKII version). You can't access them from just the front panel of the amp.
  14. I have both too, but really haven't used my X3 Live very much at all since getting the HD500. I actually find the HD500 easier to use in general than the X3 Live. I like the flexibility of the signal chain a lot more.
  15. They're completely different processors, so there's no way the firmware in a 700 can be upgraded to match what's in a JTV. But as long as your 700 still works, there's no reason you can't use it with the HD500. It still works fine. You can still call up presets on the 700 with a patch change on the HD500 with the VDI connection.
  16. Are you sure it wasn't referring to your username? That's really the only way I can think of that this sort of message makes sense. I imagine that you were asked to choose a username and you selected one that someone else was already using.

    Arrggghh

Any of the stomp, mod, filter, or delay blocks can be changed to any effect type you want. When you hit the block to go into the effect editing screen, if you hit the icon in the upper right corner of that, it will take you back to the menu that lets you select the specific effect you want. In that menu, up in the upper right corner, it says "Type". If you hit that, it lets you choose what category of effect you want that effect to be.
  18. By "pairing mode" do you mean update mode? If you hear the pop, it's in update mode. There are no lights or anything that come on when it does this. It actually looks like it's off. But if the USB installer is working correctly, it should show progress on the computer screen.
  19. Seems like it would be something that would be doable. I say suggest it here: http://line6.ideascale.com/ I would think the genre thing would actually be relatively easy because of the "genre" tag that exists in the MP3 metadata.
  20. “This POD is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet its maker. This is a late POD. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. If you hadn't nailed it to the perch, it would be pushing up the daisies. It's rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-POD.â€
  21. No the setting of the volume control in the amp model itself is what saves with the patch. The big knob controls the volume output of the entire amp. So if you raise the volume there, the volume of all your patches will increase.
  22. As far as I know, the 69 necks have always been a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. I actually have never heard of any neck on any guitar being made completely of rosewood. That doesn't mean it's not possible, I suppose. Typically, though, I think when people say "rosewood neck" they are using it to say a neck with a rosewood fingerboard. EDIT: I just went and looked it up, and I guess solid rosewood necks are actually a thing. They're not all that common, though, it looks like. I'm pretty comfortable saying that no JTV model ever had one.
  23. They haven't made a regular 69 with a maple neck, and I haven't heard any news that says they are planning to. They do make the 69S with a maple neck, though. Some people did have problems with the necks on some of early 69 models. The nut is pretty narrow to begin with, and there was some issue with the fret bevel making it easy for the E strings to slip off. They did make some changes to the neck. It wasn't really an issue with the rosewood, though. It's just that all the original 69 guitars had rosewood necks.
  24. Oh, I don't know about that... Have you talked to many piano players? I think they'd beg to differ with you. I've not met many that think think that there are any piano plug-ins that come close to giving the real experience of playing a grand piano. Pianos are kind of like amps in the fact that they each have their own personality, but the difference between pianos is probably even more noticeable to players. I mean, I get what you're saying... I just think that modeling pianos isn't best example. Although, on the other hand, maybe it is a good example. For people who don't play piano or don't play all that much, a plug-in might sound just fine for them. But for the real virtuousos, they'll will definitely know the difference. I actually think that difference is more stark than the difference between a real amp and an amp model. Sorry for the tangent. :)
