  1. Why not just use the HD's USB for recording? I don't think you'd gain anything using the Focusrite.
  2. There are 5 speakers not 10, and actually, micing the Amplifi with a single mic works pretty well in my experience. And yes, of course, if you do use a single mic you'll lose stereo, but for the vast majority of live situation stereo guitar isn't necessary or even desirable, imo.
  3. Whenever you select a scene on the M9, it sends the PC# associated with that scene, so I think you'd be able to do what you're talking about.
  4. Have you tried using the Mid-Focus EQ instead? It seems like it would do something very close to what you want the Q Filter to do.
  5. Yes, it works with Mavericks. It has for quite a while
  6. If it were me, I'd probably use the HD500X's S/PDIF out into the Yamaha's digital in. That might be the cleanest way. If you want to connect the 500X with a 1/4" cable, that would be fine as well. As far as the input pad vs normal, it really comes down to what sounds best to you. The EMGs do tend to have a higher output, so you could more easily run inti clipping along the HD500X's internal signal path. You don't need to worry about the ground lift on the XLR if you're not using those outputs. As far as the line/amp setting, it depends on whether you're going into a preamp on the board or not. The basic idea is that you want as high a signal from the 500X as you can get an maintain a good recording level. The less gain you add in the preamp section, the lower the noise floor.
  7. I've had similar reactions. I played at a my church a few weeks ago, and I was using my JTV with the HD500. I used the banjo model for one song, and I had several people come and talk to me afterwards. The one guy was a banjo player himself, and he thought that I was triggering a pre-recorded banjo track. You gotta love that.
  8. Well, it's already programmed with the appropriate CC# to control the M13's tap tempo, so all you have to do is connect a MIDI cable from this pedal's MIDI out to the M13's MIDI in. Then just tap until your heart's content. You mentioned possibly having someone off-stage control this. The one thing to be aware is that there is a limit to the length of MIDI cable you can have and still have a reliable signal. The maximum run is 50' with a quality cable. With a cheaper cable, you might want to consider 20' the max.
  9. This will do exactly what you want - http://store.moltenvoltage.com/One_Trick_Pony_Line_6_Tap_Tempo_Controller_Foots_p/built_019.htm
  10. It's been stated publicly in numerous places that the HD series isn't EOL... So, no, I wouldn't say it's safe to say they are.
  11. As long as you're using a relatively clean amp model on the Amplifi, you should be fine to use it with the RP500 the same way you would use any other amp. Just turn off all the effects in the tone you're using on the Amplifi.
  12. There's very little to set up on the DT-25 with the HD500X. The only knobs that you really need to worry about are the Master Volume and the Reverb. The switch for Low Volume Mode also matters. But other than that, all the other settings will be controlled by the preset on the HD500X. Regarding the reverb, I'd probably start with the reverb on the DT-25 off. I'd only use it if you find yourself running into the DSP limit of the 500X. But because you're using the pre amp models, that shouldn't be a big issue.
  13. They did lower the price on the M13 and M9 before Christmas. You can get an M13 for $399 now and an M9 for $299. I don't know if they'll stay there or not. They were lowered last year and went back up again. I don't know if they're planning a successor for those products or not. The thing is that in the time they've been around, there's not really anyone who's come out with product that competes with what they do in a similar form factor. That's kind of the thing that surprises me. I actually still think they're a great deal for what they do. I've sure gotten a lot of use out of my M13 and M9 over the years.
  14. The HD500 clip did seem to breathe a bit more, for lack of a better term. Perhaps the Amplifi clip sounded more compressed. I also thought the way the delays sat on the original signal sounded a lot different.
  15. It will work with controllers from either generation. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/fbv-mki-mkii-controllers/the-complete-line-6-pedal-compatibility-faq-r58
  16. What are looking to do? Simply change presets, or do want to turn individual effects on and off within presets as well? If you just want to switch presets, you can get away with something relatively small. Even something like the Tech 21 MIDI Mouse would work. If you want to do more than that, well, it can get complicated. I have one of these that I was using to control my pedalboard for awhile. It's nice, but it has some learning curve. You really need to understand the basics of MIDI before you start looking for controllers, IMO. Otherwise, I think you'll be frustrated by the programming.
  17. Here it says 42.9mm. The closest standard Floyd Rose nut width to that is 42.85mm, or 1.6875". So I'd say that's what it is.
  18. There aren't really admins that read all the threads. There are Expert Users and there are all support people around, but really, these aren't official support forums. Official Line 6 support is handled through support tickets. To create a new support ticket, go here: http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html/ As far as your Amplifi, are you using the USB utility? If so what OS are you using it with? As far as the remote app, again, what type of device are you using (iOS or Android)? Does the Amplifi show up under the Bluetooth menu at all?
  19. I do recall that I've had issues assigning parameters to expression pedals in Edit, but it seemed to be linked to me moving the pedals while connected via USB. As long as I made the assignments, then saved the preset, it seemed to be OK.
  20. You can always mic the 150 if you want to. It sounds fine that way. As far as your dealer, I've never understood why someone would badmouth a product line they sell. I've always thought that having a product to sell in your store is something of an endorsement of that product. As far the Amplifi being a "toy for students in bedsits", I'd say that Line 6 has been pretty forthright in advertising the Amplifi line as a more practice-oriented product for home or home studio. But it doesn't mean it couldn't be used live. All this talk of "bedroom players" reminds me of a poll I saw over at The Gear Page site. It's an internet poll, so it's not scientific or anything, but of the people who responded to a question about how many of them have ever played a gig, 75-80% of the people who responded had never played one gig in their life. So I guess what I'm getting at is that regardless of what the actual percentage is, there is a large contingency of players out there who do most or all of their playing at home, and if you're a company that makes guitar gear, it makes sense to make some products that are aimed at that demographic.
  21. I assume by "junkier" you mean "chunkier"? ;) I like the neck on my 69 a lot, too. It's kind of like an older Fender profile, but it's a 12" radius. As far as the exact dimensions, I've never anything other than the scale length, radius and nut width published.
  22. I actually made clips comparing the 2.0 Spank model to an American Standard Strat with Fat 50 pickups a while ago, and when I put them up here, only about half of the people guessed which clips were the real thing compared to the Variax. So in other words, the success rate of the guess wasn't any better than people just flipping a coin. So I don't quite know why it's not working for you, but if it's not, I guess it's not the right product for you.
  23. Sounds like perhaps you have an issue with your guitar, because, honestly, I can tell very little difference between the pickups and the models a lot of the times. Actually, there have been a few times when I've been playing the Spank model and had the battery die, so that the guitar reverts to the magnetic pickups, and I didn't notice it until I looked down and saw the LED on the model knob was off. And I don't play high gain at all. Quite the opposite, really. I'm thinking that perhaps you should try reinstalling the firmware on your JTV.
  24. The tones that are saved in the hardware slots will be reset, yes. But as long as you have them in the "My Tones" section of the amp, they will be backed up with your account in the cloud. It's a pretty simple matter to get them back on the hardware.
