  1. No the setting of the volume control in the amp model itself is what saves with the patch. The big knob controls the volume output of the entire amp. So if you raise the volume there, the volume of all your patches will increase.
  2. As far as I know, the 69 necks have always been a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. I actually have never heard of any neck on any guitar being made completely of rosewood. That doesn't mean it's not possible, I suppose. Typically, though, I think when people say "rosewood neck" they are using it to say a neck with a rosewood fingerboard. EDIT: I just went and looked it up, and I guess solid rosewood necks are actually a thing. They're not all that common, though, it looks like. I'm pretty comfortable saying that no JTV model ever had one.
  3. They haven't made a regular 69 with a maple neck, and I haven't heard any news that says they are planning to. They do make the 69S with a maple neck, though. Some people did have problems with the necks on some of early 69 models. The nut is pretty narrow to begin with, and there was some issue with the fret bevel making it easy for the E strings to slip off. They did make some changes to the neck. It wasn't really an issue with the rosewood, though. It's just that all the original 69 guitars had rosewood necks.
  4. Oh, I don't know about that... Have you talked to many piano players? I think they'd beg to differ with you. I've not met many that think think that there are any piano plug-ins that come close to giving the real experience of playing a grand piano. Pianos are kind of like amps in the fact that they each have their own personality, but the difference between pianos is probably even more noticeable to players. I mean, I get what you're saying... I just think that modeling pianos isn't best example. Although, on the other hand, maybe it is a good example. For people who don't play piano or don't play all that much, a plug-in might sound just fine for them. But for the real virtuousos, they'll will definitely know the difference. I actually think that difference is more stark than the difference between a real amp and an amp model. Sorry for the tangent. :)
  5. You have to do a factory reset of the amp to get these to show up. To do that, press and hold Master Volume knob and Tone button as you power up the amp. If it doesn't work the first time, try it again.
  6. Well, the first group of plug-ins you mentioned are using multi-velocity samples, and that eats up storage space very quickly. The second group is actually modeling the sound of a piano or whatever instrument. It's kind of more analogous to what Line 6 or other companies do with amp modeling.
  7. I'm wondering if this could possibly have something to do with the speakers. Specifically, I'm wondering if your woofer isn't working. The output from the mod and delay effects is sent to the other speakers, but not the woofer. So perhaps your woofer isn't working and just aren't realizing it? One way to test this would be to try the headphone out and see if you notice the signal cutting out when you turn the effects off.
  8. Normally they do all cost the same. I believe that the black is being reduced right now by retailers just so they can get rid of of some of their stock.
  9. It's on the FAQ page, but it's kind of buried.
  10. No, it can't. The only way to control the Amplifi is with an FBV pedal.
  11. If you updated the amp with the USB utility, you still need to update the remote app to 2.0 if you haven't done so already.
  12. It's iOS8, so there's no reason it shouldn't work.
  13. Different airlines have different rules about instruments as carry-ons. It shouldn't be a problem taking it in a soft case, but it's best to call ahead. I have taken a Strat in one of the SKB/Fender TSA cases, and it was fine. Those cases are pretty rugged. I didn't use bubble wrap or anything like that. As far as loosening the strings, there are different schools of thought. I don't feel strongly either way, but I tend to lean towards the view that says guitar necks are designed to be under tension, so shipping while under tension is not really any more risky than shipping them without. I've probably shipped several dozen guitars in my life, and I've never loosened the string before doing it. Again, I know some people think otherwise, and they have their reasons. I say whatever you're comfortable with is fine.
  14. Well, I wasn't replying to start a debate. I genuinely don't remember ever seeing them advertise for an unreleased update. The only exception I can think of is that there was a time I believe early on when they released new amp models for the 300 and 400 before they 500, Bean and Pro got them. So they may have said something to the fact they were going to be adding those to the other models as well. I also know they announced the 2.0/HD update for the JTV guitars before releasing it. Typically, though, they don't announce updates before they're ready to go.
  15. Line 6 has never made those sorts of claims in any ad I've seen.
  16. It's not quite clear to me from your post, but are your monitors connected to your computer or to your PC? If they're connected to your PC, you need to connect them to the POD when its hooked up via USB to hear your guitar through them.
  17. I know I'll just be accused of being a shill, but you might be surprised what the future holds for Line 6... Don't write them off. That's all I'm going to say.
  18. Well, I can say that I am sure that the HD500 and 500X are not "locked product" at this stage. Just based on what has been said publicly by Line 6 reps, I'm certain that's not how they see it. Regarding iOS, I actually think that for all it gets discussed, the features that are added from one version to another are actually kind of minor as far as the overall usability of the devices goes. The thing that seems to get changed that would be noticed the most by most users is the camera app. Other than that, it's hard for me to remember the differences in the versions. Oh, and perhaps the Apple Maps app.
  19. Well, I think Line 6 is constantly improving their products, too. It doesn't mean, though, that they're going to be able to implement every feature that's asked for. They obviously have limited resources just like every other company. I guess it's just a matter of customers deciding what things they're willing to live with and which are dealbreaker. Regarding the looper thing, I think that it's just not something that affects a large portion of the user base or that they think has been worth changing. People may disagree with them, sure. All I'm saying is that someone has to make these types of decisions. And there's always going to be some people that are unhappy with them.
  20. It seems to me that operating systems and other computer software and modelers are completely different things. The vast majority or OS updates are dealing with things like security updates and stuff like that. Most updates have very little impact on the way most users use the OS. Occasionally, there are bigger updates - like Windows 8 to 8.1 - that deal with some major functionality. I think that updates that happen too frequently are annoying. I hate, for example, getting asked to update iTunes every time I open it up. I usually put it off as long as possible.
  21. It's not necessarily unusual to have the displayed tempo of the two devices not match up. The question is does it actually sound like they are in sync. The fact that they're displaying tempos off be by .4 could actually be a rounding error. Does the Beat Buddy let you dial in tempos to the tenth of the BPM? I looked at the manual, and it doesn't appear that it does. So if it's just setting the tempo to the nearest whole BPM, it could be that it is actually not exactly at 90 BPM itself. Or it could be that it is, and the M9's internal clock is reading it slightly different. No two internal clocks will match perfectly.
  22. It appears you're correct, well at least for the most part. I just put my 5S on airplane mode to check it out, and when I opened the app, the tones were still there. The thing is that I was still logged into the app. If I logout and try to get into the app with being connected to internet, I can't access "my tones". So I guess perhaps it will work if you were logged in before and didn't log out, you can still get those tones.
  23. The tones saved under "My Tones" in the app, are saved with your Line 6 account on the cloud, so no, you won't be able to access those with an internet connection. You can, however, store up to 100 presets on the FX100 itself, and you can access and edit those with the app without being connected to the internet.
  24. Both the Smart Harmony and Pitch Glide should work for that.
