  1. It's been discontinued for awhile now - since around Christmas 2013, I think. Sweetwater was selling the rest of their stock for $200, but it looks like they're out now. As to whether there will be a new desktop model, I couldn't say. I think the popularity of the desktop has decreased as more people would probably just want the floor model for live use. If they want a unit where they can keep the processor in the backline, there's always the Pro version. Both of those can easily be recorded at home. I also think the Bean probably has competition from the modeling software packages out there.
  2. Can you give a little more detail on what you mean by "all wonky"? What is happening with the settings? Have you set both the heel and toe parameters on the wah? Are you using manual save or autosave for the effects?
  3. It sounds like you're not using a TRS cable. With a regular guitar cable, you're only sending audio from the pedal - not power from the pedal to the guitar.
  4. My guess is that the reverb is coming from somewhere else in your setup. There is no reverb modeled in the electrics on JTV (there is some room modeling with mic placement on the acoustic models). What are you using to record?
  5. You can download other people's tones to your JTV, but there's no site like CustomTone to get different tones. As far as a ukulele, I suppose you could try modifying an acoustic. You can mute strings in Workbench, so you could set up a 4-string tuning equal to a uke. As far as the HD update, I'm not sure where you're looking, but it's definitely still there. 2.10 is the latest version. I just did this screen cap a few mins ago.
  6. You have to program the switch to send a value between 64 and 127 on CC#64.
  7. After a little research, I think I'm wrong about the above footswitch. The Champ only uses a mono 1/4" cable as well. You definitely need a TRS for the DT-25. Something like this would work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/KoolKats-2-Button-Footswitch-for-Rivera-Pubster-FS-20-/380812562321?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58aa328f91
  8. Something like this will work: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ChampPedal?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=PPC&utm_campaign=guitars&utm_term=adwords_labelsGuitar_Amp_Accessories&device=c&network=g&matchtype=&gclid=COfespuJjMACFQgKaQodZZMAHA Really, anything that's two button (latching, not momentary) with a TRS cable should work.
  9. The presence knob is actually an analog control directly controlling the tube power section, so it's not something that's going to be fixable via a software flash or something like that. It might end being a relatively simple fix, so it's probably worth having a tech look at it.
  10. You have a choice of where the DT50 receives audio from the HD500's signal chain. In HD500 Edit, you can set this parameter under the "Mixer" tab. You'll see under the L6 Link section there that you have Amp 1, Amp 2, Amp 3 & Amp 4 listed, and for each one there's two pull down menus - "Audio" and "Control". Assuming you only have one DT50, you just need to set the Amp 1 one. If you want the DT50 to amplify effects after the amp model in the HD500's signal chain, you need to make sure you select the "Left/Right" option here. This setting can also be changed without being connected to HD500 Edit. It's on page 9 of the setup menu.
  11. The short answer is yes, but it's not that the Variax models are programmed to certain footswitches within a preset like you do with effects. You can save presets with a specific Variax model (and tuning if you want) so that when you bring up that preset, the Variax changes accordingly.
  12. Have you installed the app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch? That's really the first thing to do. As far as far recognizing your library, one thing to be aware of is the app can only stream songs that are actually downloaded to your device. It can't play songs that are showing up in your library because of iTunes Match.
  13. Well it might not directly benefit existing HD users, but if people are wanting to see more development at the higher end of the product line, they should want to see success at the lower end. The sales of the lower end products gives Line 6 resources to invest into other higher end products. It's kind of how the music retail business works. Higher priced items usually have lower profit margins than those at the bottom of the line, and companies usually sell less of the higher priced stuff. So in a sense, the low priced items kind of subsidize the top of the line.
  14. You're talking about connecting to amps in stereo to the XT Live? Yeah, that's totally possible. Nothing wrong with doing it at all. There worst that could happen is you'll have noise issues, but as far as damaging the amps, there's nothing to worry about at all.
  15. No. The HD500X does have MIDI control capabilities, but the Amplifi has no MIDI functionality.
  16. People have been asking for this for a long time. I don't think it's something Line 6 has any interest in doing. I think the support for such a thing has the potential to be a nightmare. Variax transplants are pretty intensive projects, and I just think that developing a kit that would work for a wide range of body styles and be marketable to the general public would be end up being more hassle than it's worth for them.
  17. It does receive MIDI clock. Are you having problems trying to get it to respond.
  18. Well, actually it was more like three years between the time the HD500 and HD500X releases. But, fundamentally, it's no different than buying a laptop, except that with a laptop you're guaranteed that the model you buy today will be replaceed with a newer model within a year. You're also lucky if a laptop has any resale value at all. I've actually never sold an old laptop. I just junk them when I'm done with them. All these things are computers when you get down to it, but at least guitar gear does have a longer lifespan than a typical computer.
  19. As far as selling stuff for pennies on the dollar, I've to say that when I have sold stuff, even digital stuff, I've actually not had too bad of luck. I usually am able to get 50-70% of what I've paid for it. But the whole reason I use the digital equipment is simply because it has feature and capabilities that either don't exist at all in the analog world or if they do exist are prohibitively expensive. For example, to sync an analog delay with an an analog tremolo or some other time-based effect is pretty much impossible. With current digital gear, it's easy. That's just one example. I use the stuff I use because it makes my life easier. If it doesn't do that for people, than, by all means, they should use whatever does for them. As far as people wanting something new, that's just human nature. People like getting new stuff. I also would say that I don't think that most tube amps that are being today are going to hold their value like vintage amps do. The construction methods are just very different. A Princeton Reverb built today probably has more in common with something like the DT25 than it does a vintage Princeton Reverb.
  20. Depends on what you mean by satisfaction. I think buying a modeler with the expectation that this will be that last guitar device you'll ever need isn't really what anyone is doing, or at least I hope not. These things are best looked at as tools that have a useful life and will eventually have to be replaced. That's a little different, I guess than a typical guitar and tube amp, but even those things if they're used a lot will need regular maintenance and upkeep. The difference with modelers is that it's a technology driven business in a way traditional guitars and amps aren't. But, anyway, I agree with Zap. I have no reason to believe Line 6 is done developing new products, even ones for the higher end of the market.
  21. Do you have an example of the types of tones your after? I personally think that with its flexible signal chain it's easier to get good ambient tones with the 500 and 500X than with previous PODs. Also, the delays behave much more naturally when you want to do things like send them into self-oscillation. One thing I like to do is create separate wet and dry paths within the tone. That can give you something that mimics an analog dry signal.
  22. Well, the post you quoted is from over a month ago, and back then I hadn't seen any posts about people having issues with the HD500X's footswitches. And, actually, other than the comment in this post, I still haven't really. I'm not saying there aren't any. I don't see every post on this forum, but I do see most of them. I'm not making any claim other than sharing my anecdotal evidence.
  23. Actually, the tuner will work with any of the physical inputs, but it only works for Input 1. So, for example, in order for it to work on the Aux jack, Input 1 has to have the selected as one of the inputs.
  24. You need to do a global settings reset after updating the flash memory. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd/after-pod-hd500x500-flashre-flashupdate-man-r160 You can also re-calibrate the expression pedal: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd500-hd500x/pod-hd500xhd500-pedal-calibration-r161
  25. There was a firmware update for the HD500, HD Pro and Bean just within the last two weeks. Before that, there was one in May. Prior to that November. These haven't been huge updates. The most substantial was the one in November. But as far your original issue with the volume differences between the presets, that's pretty much the same thing that happens with every multi-fx unit that's ever been made. You're dramatically changing the signal chain from one preset to another, so volume changes are part of that. The idea is, though, that you have to balance your presets to your liking.
