  1. If you had the right adapters you could try going into the aux in, but it would be going directly to the power amp. I suspect it wouldn't sound like you want. Also, the level from your guitar might be too low for that jack. I kind of already answered your second question, but no, the aux in isn't processed through the effects and amp models.

    POD HD 500 Midi

The HD500 can't be used as a MIDI interface. The MIDI jacks are solely there so it can be controlled or control other outboard gear.
  3. Yes. Same housing. The only physical differences are the type of switches and the LCD (it's brighter, but the same size and everything).
  4. Manual is a parameter that's found on most flanger pedals. It's related to the delay time of the effect. Technically, it's controlling LFO offset, and how much effect it actually has depends on where you have the width (or range, same thing, just a different name) set. This article does a good job of explaining it: http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/Get_More_Out_of_Your_Flanger The parameters of the Line 6 models are explained with a little detail here (although, it doesn't give a lot of info about this particular parameter): http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593fabe278/application/pdf/M13/M9/M5%20FX%20Parameters%20-%20English%20%28%20Rev%20B%20%29.pdf
  5. It would be nice, I agree. I haven't heard anything about plans to do it, though. I don't know if it's technically feasible or not. I don't know how those services handle the metadata associated with the songs they're playing. With an iTunes audio file, the metadata is easily extracted from the file itself. I suspect with streaming services, it's a little different.
  6. So back in the days of the PODxt, the topic of fizz caused a lot of debate on the forums. I was actually just starting to get involved then, but I remember reading the pages of discussion. If I remember correctly, Line 6 eventually stepped in and did some A/B testing in the way of recording clips of real amps and comparing them to the XT clips. The takeaway was that the fizz was there in the real amps and what was in their models accurately reflected reality. It didn't really make everyone believe them, though. But anyway, with all the clips posted above I don't really hear anything that objectionable. I do not think anyone would ever notice anything in a mix.
  7. You could try installing one of the "MIDI sniffer" programs to see if the KB37 is sending the messages you think it should be. I just found this one with a quick Google search. There are quite a few available. http://rtcs.co.za/index.php?s=5&p=1
  8. On the POD HD? Yes, it is.
  9. Do you have any idea how long the batteries were in there? It doesn't matter all that much, but leaving dead batteries in a battery compartment will eventually cause them to leak (the stuff the leak is potassium hydroxide, which is actually a caustic agent, not an acid). I guess the best case scenario is that the leak just caused a short and caused the unit to stop working that way. If that's the case, cleaning everything up may fix it. The worst case is that the board itself is damaged in some way. I'd say try cleaning it up as best you can and go from there. You probably want to wear rubber gloves while cleaning it up.
  10. If you're using a cleanish to mid-gain amp, it should be fine... Really, it's your signal chain. Do whatever the heck you want with it. :) Seriously, though, I tend to like doing what you're talking about with the Fender models. The reverb sounds a bit more natural to me this way.
  11. Yosemite's official release date isn't until Fall 2014... I guess I can't see Line 6 releasing anything for an OS that's not out of beta stage.
  12. At the bottom of the description in this video it says, "Meantone Blues is not intended for use together with instruments in other temperaments." In other the perfect guitar for the player who never leaves his bedroom! :)
  13. On the M13, if you hit the tap button once, it restarts the pattern for those effects (well for the Pattern Trem, at least. I don't remember if it does for the Seeker, too. I think it probably does.), so I don't know they brought that behavior over to the HD or not. I'm guessing you already have the MIDI out/thru jack set to thru on page 6 of the setup menu?
  14. Well, all that Sixy device is doing is taking the MIDI clock signal from whatever source you're using (I assume one of Axe FX's) and converting it so it spits out the correct CC (#64 if I remember correctly). So, there's no reason it shouldn't work. But, the HD Pros should respond to MIDI clock. Are you saying they won't at all? I've never really used MIDI clock with a POD, but I've used it with the M13 and gotten it to work. I do wonder how often that Molten Voltage device is sending the CC, though. I would think that if it sent it continuously, it would mess with the way effects sound. Perhaps it just sends it when it receives a change in tempo on the MIDI clock signal. I bring that up because even if two devices are synced, they will still drift over time. It's probably not a big deal if we're just talking about delays and modulations, but if you get into more complicated things that go out for several measure, I could see running into issues.
  15. What MIDI interface are you using? This is probably the biggest thing. It really needs to be one that isn't using the default Windows drivers. The ones that Line 6 recommends in that document are what you should be using. If you have one of those, that's a major obstacle out of the way. Secondly, I'd try using this program instead of the MIDI OX program. http://www.bome.com/products/sendsx Personally, I never got the MIDI OX program to work. One last thing is that you only really need one MIDI cable to do the update. You just need the cable going from the MIDI out of the adapter to the MIDI in of the M13. You don't need two-way communication to do the update. If you follow those steps, you should have a pretty high probability of success.
  16. These may be long shots, but they may be worth looking into before you take it back. First, is it possible that you have "Mic" selected for Input 2 on your tones? That can add quite a bit of unwanted noise. Also, have you tried a different guitar cable? Does your guitar have active pickups? If so, is it possible that the battery in your guitar needs replaced? I know it would seem like an odd coincidence that it would happen right after you update, but I have seen it happen more than once where noise was simply the result of a dying 9V in a guitar.
  17. Do you get noise if you aren't connected to your computer?
  18. Did you do the global settings reset after you installed the update? http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd/after-pod-hd500x500-flashre-flashupdate-man-r160
  19. I don't think I've ever played anything that I'd call a "super strat", so I don't really have anything to make that direct comparison to. But I have played a lot of Strats, and I think my 69 US feels pretty similar to a Strat. There are some differences, though. Mainly the neck is a little different than any Strat I've played. It's a bit narrower at the nut, and it's thicker than any of my Strat necks. The trem system on the 69 is different than a Strat trem in many ways, but it's still a floating trem system. So I think it's going to feel much different than the Floyd Rose. I have played some more "metalized" Strat style guitars - the Ibanez RG series, for example - and I think the 69 is quite different from those. Those usually have much flatter and wider fingerboards. From your description, I wonder if you wouldn't be more comfortable with the 89F? Is there a reason you don't want to go that route?
  20. I have no idea about the technical issues with Android or anything, but I think people are forgetting that the app does more than just act as an editor for the amp. It does also play and stream music from the device to the amp. So that could be another layer of complication. I imagine, for one thing, that there's different ways Android devices handle the audio library on the device. Again, I don't know enough to say for sure - pure speculation on my part.
  21. No, they use different voltages. The M9 power supply is 9V AC, and the G30 needs 9V DC.
  22. The tone controls only affect the amp model in the tone, so, yeah, they only apply to the guitar signal. As far as the EQ for streaming music, it would depend on the app you're using. The Amplifi app itself doesn't have an EQ for the streamed music.
  23. The plug you're referring to is the jack for the FBV foot controller. I can't imagine there's anyway possible it could be made to pass the digital audio that the Variax sends through its VDI connection.
  24. I believe that's the body from a Peavey Generation EXP guitar. Those guitars have an active piezo system with acoustic modeling, hence the battery slot and large cavity for electronics. Someone managed to stick an older Variax neck on there. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/351081663911?lpid=82
