  1. The Line 6 drivers have not be updated to work Yosemite yet, so that's why you're having this issue. Line 6 should be updating them within the not too distant future.

    OT: iWatch

That would be pretty cool... Although, I think most people wear their watch on the hand opposite of their dominant one, which would mean that most guitarists would probably wear a watch on their picking hand instead of their strumming one.
  3. Line 6 Edit was replaced with Gearbox, well, quite a long time ago. I don't remember when exactly. But I believe that if you're using the Windows 7 drivers for the XT, you need to use the Gearbox editor, not Line 6 Edit.
  4. The GC in Edina had about a half dozen JTVs at one point. They actually had a whole display set up once when I went in. Now, I think they're down to one or two. The one I tried to play didn't have a battery installed, and they didn't know where to get one. That kind of makes having one on display almost a moot point. I've not me very many employees at guitar stores who are all that good at showing customers how the more technically advanced products work, unfortunately.
  5. If you're using the Amplifi live, there's really no reason you'd need to use the BT connection at the gig. If you decide to edit your presets there, you would I guess. But if you're just be calling up presets and turning individual effects on or off with with the FBV controller. With the latest updates, they have 100 preset banks, so that should be enough to make it through any gig. Also, regarding the hacking the BT connection thing, you still have to press the BT button on the Amplifi in order to get it to pair with your phone or tablet. So I don't really think it's a real risk. Personally, I have to say that editing tones with the Amplifi app is super cool. I wish there was a similar thing for the HD stuff. I actually think that if you did have to make changes at a gig, using the app would be easier than editing on the device itself (of course on the Amplifi, you can't really edit most parameters directly on the device itself).
  6. I wasn't trying to get into a flame war, either. I was just pointing out the reasons why I think Apple products are what they are, and why companies like Line 6 create stuff that works with them. In politics, there's a saying, "perception is reality". I think that's the way it is in the consumer electronics world, too. People like what they like, and no amount of arguing is going to change most people's minds. I will throw this out. Line 6 hasn't said they aren't going to make an Android app for Amplifi. I don't think I'd assume they won't ever release one.
  7. Apple makes computers for people who want to use computers, but don't consider themselves a "computer person". My wife has a Macbook Air and loves it. I actually think it is a beautiful piece of industrial design. It's pretty darn cool. I still use a PC for work and my personal laptop, but I do love my iPhone. I just find it much easier to navigate. My boss has a Samsung Galaxy, and she asks me to help her do stuff with it sometimes, and I just find it takes about twice as many steps to do anything you want to do. I think there is a lot to be said for ergonomic design. I actually think that's what made Line 6 successful in its early existence. It made digital stuff that didn't look and feel like digital stuff.
  8. Yeah, you could do that. You'd just have to make sure have things panned appropriately for each preset.
  9. Definitely looks like a navy blue to me. Sean's model is a beta/prototype, I believe, so it was probably a color that never made it into production. As far as the pickguard, you can get JTV-69 pickguards at Full Compass, but they only have black for the 69. They have white for the 69S, though.
  10. With a few of the things on your list, I don't understand what you're saying. Mainly these ones listed here: 1. What do you mean by "keeps the initial position of the knob"? 2. You can already assign the expression pedal to control the amp drive parameter. 3. Are you have a specific issue with USB not working correctly? 4. Again, I don't understand what you mean by this.
  11. Do they all show up in your iTunes library? Are they songs you downloaded from iTunes or some other store, or are they downloaded from somewhere else? The only thing I could think of is that perhaps it's an issue of missing metadata.
  12. The answer to both questions is no.
  13. Does the amp show up as a device in the Bluetooth menu under Settings in your iPad. If so, click on its name, and under on the next page, hit "forget this device". That will reset the BT communication between the amp and the iPad. You'll have to pair the two again. I can't guarantee that will solve your problem, but it's worth trying.
  14. I don't believe there is a mix control for that effect in actuality. The one that's shown in Edit is probably a copy and paste error from another effect. I think if you look on the HD itself, there won't be any mix parameter. I know on the M13, this effect has no mix control.
  15. Well, I played quite a few gigs with my JTV prior to the update, so I was very familiar with what the 1.9 models were like. I didn't have any huge issues with them, though. I was actually involved with the beta for the HD models, and I played a few shows with them prior to their being released to the public. My experience with them was that I felt they were overall just more dynamic feeling, and to me it just seemed that the whole guitar felt much more responsive and lively. Again, this wasn't just from testing it out in my basement (not that there's anything wrong with that). It was from using the guitar at gigs. So I remember last year when there was some negative reactions to the HD models, I was quite surprised. I actually remember telling one of the other testers before the release that I was excited to hear users' reaction because I thought on the whole it was such a big step above where they had been. So I don't know. I kind of agree with Zap. I think that some of it has to be that the update doesn't sound the same on every guitar. Or perhaps it is preference? It's hard for me to say without hearing someone's JTV in person.
  16. I would disagree with this. This is what the whole point of the Variax modeling is - to emulate the sounds of the modeled guitars as much as possible. Now, the one thing is that there's no single Strat sound that is *the* Strat sound. People will argue that certain tones are the pinnacle of that, but, really, if Line 6 went down that road, I think they'd just be asking for endless headaches. The best they can do is give the best representation of the specific guitars they modeled and allow us to edit them to our liking in Workbench.
  17. Last summer, after the HD update was first released, there was a lot of discussion/debate about this. So in order to help try to get to the bottom of it, I made some sample recording comparing the HD Spank model to a real Strat here: http://line6.com/support/topic/2351-battle-of-the-quacks/ As you can see from the results of the poll, the results were almost 50/50 with people guessing which was the real thing and what was the Variax. So that tells me that Line 6 did a very good job of making the Strat sound like a real Strat. Maybe people prefer the older model of a Strat to the real thing? I don't know... I do know, though, that Line 6 wouldn't have spent all the time and energy to develop the HD models just to have them sound like slightly tweaked versions of the old models.
  18. The Strat tones are different between 1.9 and 2.1 (well, 2.0, the HD update). It's a different guitar they modeled from one to the other, and it's just different. Personally, I really like the new Strat. It actually sounds more like the actual Strats I own. The other thing is that the levels between the models in the HD update are not nearly as equal to one another as they were prior to the update. So if you had tones on the HD500 built around a certain model on the JTV, you'll likely have to adjust those tones to get it to sound the way you want it. The other thing to consider is that everything can be adjusted in Workbench.
  19. Yes, there is. There are three effects blocks in the chain that are essentially "wild cards" that can bed changed to any effect from the Drives & Dynamics, Mods, Delays, or Filters, Synths, and Pitch group. To change from one group to another, you hit the effect icon for the one you want to change, then hit the icon for that effect type up in the upper left hand corner. Once you do that, you'll be in the menu that lets you select which effect from that type you want. If you hit the word "Type" in the upper left hand corner here, you'll be taken to another menu that lets you pick which group you want to use.
  20. The 4-cable method should actually work pretty well with the Duoverb. If you had everything connected correctly, and had the FX Loop block in the right place in the HD500, you shouldn't lose the sounds from the Duoverb. The one thing is that the Duoverb loop can be stereo, so if you're using two different amp models on it, you'd have to connect the POD to it in stereo in order to get everything to work correctly.
  21. I don't think it's that the DSP can't handle working with frequencies. From the way DI explained it, I think it's the way the original frequency parameters for the EQ effects were designed. There are really two basic ways the POD handles parameters. You can have a range of discreet values - like with delay times for examples, you can have a range of times ranges from 20ms up to 2000ms, and those can be set with a precision of 1ms. So you have 1,920 steps in that range (or you can have it set to discreet note values). The other way a range of values is handled is to have the max and min and then divide them into 127 steps (the 127 relates to the MIDI control protocol). So the range of the knob is mapped so that wherever you turn the knob it, lines up with one of these 127 spots. With the EQ parameter, those 127 steps are mapped to percentages. So in order to label Hz, they would have to change that effect parameter to stepped discreet values instead of a range. So that's why, at least the way I think, that it's not just a matter of relabeling the parameter. It means they have to re-code the effect parameter itself. Again, I don't know the inner workings. I'm just guessing based on what's been said. So don't take anything I say as anything other my opinion.
  22. They're finished, but it's a clear satin finish, so it's very light. It's totally different than the tinted gloss of, say, a vintage Fender neck. It doesn't get gummy feeling at all. I really like the neck on mine.
  23. Well, anything is possible in the sense that with enough programming it could be done, but that doesn't mean that it's realistic with the current architecture. The one thing is that there's a limit to the number of parameters that can be controlled in an effect block. Offhand, I think it's six. So having that many bands probably isn't doable. One thing regarding the EQ not being labeled in Hz, it's not really all that uncommon to see a mixer in which the EQ knobs aren't all labeled, especially if there's a mid-sweep knob. Really, it does come down to listening. I understand the argument for labeling, and I think Line 6 has heard people's opinion loud and clear now. But I don't think it necessarily was the huge design failure that some people make it out to be.
  24. The older Variax guitars aren't compatible with Workbench HD. Only JTV guitars running firmware 2.0 or higher are compatible with Workbench HD. You need to use the original Workbench software with your 700 Acoustic.
  25. I very highly doubt there will be anything more in the way of firmware updates for the M13. The last firmware update was over 3.5 years ago, and that was some relatively minor bug fixes. I think it's pretty safe to say that Line 6 isn't looking to take the product any further than it already is.
