    I would start with the newest. Download newest Monkey and update everything. If you start to run into problems you can roll back to an early XP driver/firmware.

    Run the newest version of Monkey. Can it see the UX? Does it have green ticks for everything?

    FWIW, You do not necessarily need an internet connection to use the app. You can still stream music, deep edit tones, save to my tones, and send tone to the amp.

    Yeah, I remember it being unintuitive, but ended up not paying much attention to it because I just monitor the input in Reaper.

    Try going into the Windows mixer and find the UX as the recording device and choose listen to this device.

    Can you see it and not select it or cannot see it at all?

    Gearbox. You will want to download newest Monkey to update everything. http://line6.com/software/ Word of caution, if it was purchased 2nd hand with additional model packs from previous owner, you will lose them (unless they were gifted). PODxt live comes with the Power pack and FX-Jumnkie, so no worried on losing those.

    +1 to silverhead Typically for effects only you will want to bypass you Amp's preamp by using your amp's effect loop (or power amp in). But do you want the color of your amps preamp or the X3 amp models?

    Just for clarification, when you run the newest version of Monkey you have green ticks for everything?

    I think more than one thing is going on here. You may be picking up interference from you pc. and the reason it cuts in and out is the gate setting. But it doesn't sound like a ground loop.

    Nice outcome!! Just for the record, Gearbox for the PODxt does not have any tones per se, it is just a GUI for the PODxt. The PODxt does all the tone processing. With the GX, your computer does all the tone processing.

    +1 to silverhead. Also if you just touch the strings or tuners does the sound lessen go away? If so it is likely a ground loop somewhere. Soundcloud is blocked where I am atm, I will listen to it when I get home later.

    Also, what many users do is select Variax (or mic on the bean) as Input 2 source instead of Guitar or Same.

    Have you tried backing off the faders on the mixer in POD HD 500 Edit?

    I would try the Classic Distortion or the Screamer.

    When it was working perfectly, was it with your laptop? Can the newest version of Monkey see it with all green ticks? What are the headphones connected to?

    I think it would depend on if he purchases the POD Farm license??

    +1 to Zap, but you should still be able to use it with the xt as the dongle.

    +1 to Zap. Yeah, I would have tried to gift to my real account. I think registering it to the other account tripped you up. The Power Pack issue may just be a matter of running the license manager.

    Yes and no. Do you have a Line6 interface, xt, X3, KB37, GX, or UX? If so it's an easy yes. If not, you can turn on "monitoring" in Cubase, but chances are the perceived latency will to much to be usable.

    My guess is Duality of the Snake is Roland and After Today is PODxt. Not really my genre but I like the keys/sythns a lot!!
