Rage Against the Machine never specified what type of machine they were furious with, but I reckon it was probably a printer! ;-)

Can't get Helix Native to start after log in
datacommando replied to JamesM105496's topic in Helix Native
A “me too” post doesn’t get you very far. If you are seeking assistance from other users, it’s advisable to state what hardware, operating system and DAW you are using. If you have read through and tried any possible solution offered in these posts, then the best recourse is to contact Customer Support and raise a ticket. This is a user group and is not visited by Line 6 staff, you need to make them aware of the problem. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
HX Stomp as IOS interface-Disabling USB outputs??
datacommando replied to davemolina294's topic in Helix
Apple Camera Connection Kit should do it. Do not even consider using the built in speakers as an audio reference - use some decent headphones instead. Have a look at this: Hope this helps/makes sense. -
It’s not very clear from your post, but does this mean that your Mac Mini was running Big Sur and since then you have updated your Mac OS to Monterey? If this is correct, you will see on the download page for HX Edit v.3.11 that Monterey is not listed as being compatible. Compatible OS: Mac OS X, macOS Sierra, macOS High Sierra, macOS Mojave, macOS Catalina, macOS Big Sur In Apple’s eternal quest to update the OS, other manufacturers are struggling to keep pace. Apple then simply blames everyone else. Also, in the lower right hand corner of this page is a black dot with a white question mark inside a white circle. The 14 Bass Amps in Helix HX Stomp *No Talking*

Good comparison demo video. I like the Ampegs, always have, but they are all very good. -
Yep, nearly forgot that one, and it's actually nearer - yay! Thanks for reminding me.

Hi, Dave, Good suggestion, apart from the price, admin cost and VAT. You see, “barnsleyboy” already felt he was being ripped off at a total price of £15.96 Farnell price for replacement volume knob: £3.45 Handling charge: £9.95 VAT. £2.68 Delivery free. Total £16.08 There is no escaping the tax, and the retailer is essentially an unpaid tax collector for the government - not their fault. Lucky for me, Farnell are quite close to where I live, so it’s quite easy to call in at the trade counter. EDIT: ARRRRG! I just spotted the walk-in trade counter closed down at the end of August this year.

Hmm… 1 whole bank of presets with 8 snapshots in each and a week later they sound different? O.K. how long did it take to get these right at gig level? Ear fatigue - Fletcher Munson? Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Hmm… Somebody had to create an account for you, then go and get the part from the shelf in the warehouse, then pack it up securely and take it to the post office to ship it off to you. Plus there is no avoiding the tax. Well, the other option is you could have driven from Suffolk to Norwich to pick up the parts. What would that have cost in fuel and time? Who is ripping you off? Nice to know it cheaper than having stuff shipped from the USA.

That’s exactly what I have been doing because the dry signal waveform is almost invisible. I am quite happy with my processed audio level on USB 1&2. There does seem to be some inconsistency of user experience, particularly with the dry signal. Some find it way too low, others far too hot and, as you state, just right. It appears to be something of a “Goldilocks” feature for us all. Signal too low. (See posts #4 and #14 from Digital Igloo). https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/helix-usb-input-volume.1629009/ Signal too hot.

The reason the Line 6 drivers don't work with Windows 11 is there is no driver specifically listed as being compatible. Hope this helps/makes sense From the driver download page: Drivers Line 6 Helix Driver2 Version 1.96 Released 3/16/21 Works with: Helix Helix LT Helix Rack Compatible OS: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10

As I mentioned previously, the processed audio on USB 1&2 in Logic is generally quite useable. I think that several people have mentioned that the signal for the DI signal on USB 7&8 seems to be be very low. If there was a way to strengthen the dry signal, then that would be a great modification to the USB.
-
O.K. - This has drifted way too far of topic. I guess we can agree that we would like a little more control over the level being output over USB into a DAW. Possibly one for Ideascale.

LOL! How did you know? I actually did live quite near a rail track back then! Oh, yeah… cassettes were a much later item and I still have a big box of old double speed 4 track chrome cassette tapes lurking around here someplace.
-
You’re not alone. There are quite a lot of us greybeards in here who started out with 3 speed, 2 track reel to reel machines way back at the dawn of time when the world was black and white. Then George Martin hooked up 2 four track units to record Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, at the end of “the Summer of Love” and we went technicolour - psychedelia hit us! I started as a student in Art College in the September of that year, and six months later the students of the Sorbonne in Paris started to riot and my college had it’s own gentle revolution! It’s been fun, so far.

That’s the reason I use the setup that I do - I have Helix Native. You have an interesting approach, although as you say - “This way, I'm "half commiting" myself to a sound”. As we all know, there are no rules, it’s whatever works for you. EDIT: You can clean out some space for uploading images, sound etc., by clicking on your avatar in the top righ of the page and from the drop down menu select “My Attachments”. Then you can delete any older items that may not be needed.

Ah, ha, yes it does do that. The reason I never looked at that option is because I usually have the output set on the default "Multi" because not only does it carry USB 1&2 into Logic, but also my monitors on the XLR out at the same time and thus avoiding the dreaded latency.
-
Yeah, I can also understand the benefit having higher USB level, but I'm not sure if the OP was commenting about the processed audio from the HX Stomp or the dry signal unprocessed signal. My processed signal into Logic is aways at reasonably useable level, and although the DI signal is pretty low in comparison, it is still usable, especially when given a little lift from the utility gain plug-in or gain added in the region inspector. I'm intrigued to read your comment - "As a result, with the USB outs set at 0dB, the level arriving in Logic is pretty low." Surely, the point is that it is not possible to set the output level on the USB from Helix? Digital out by default is set at 0.0db and can be set to +18db, but that only works with SPDIF or AES/EBU out.
-
Hi, HX Stomp has 8 USB channels that you can use for audio in and out. In Logic they function like this - Channels 1&2 are used for the fully processed audio from path A, channels 3&4 are for the fully processed audio from whatever is running on path B, 5&6 are the main L/R dry signal for DI and re-amping. See the manual, page 55, for a full run down of all USB in and out. When recording in Logic, and the signal seems to be low, you can insert a Gain plug-in on the input of the channel which should give you up to +18db gain. Avoid making the input too “hot”. Hope this helps/makes sense.

I think you may be getting confused by the Neural plug-in and Standalone version. You need to open it as a plug-in in the recording channel of Reaper and Reaper will control the the signal flow. If you are trying to open the Neural Plug-in outside of Reaper in the Standalone version IT WILL NOT WORK. Check the settings in Reaper to see if the Neural "Fortin Nameless", "NTS" and "Abasi" VST plug-in are installed and load them into the channel just like any other plug-in. Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Hi, To avoid confusion, I would suggest that the first thing you should do is get your Helix LT working as an Audio Interface with Reaper, then figure out how to add the Neural plug-ins. See the latest Helix LT 3.0 Owner’s Manual - Rev D - English - USB Audio pages 69 - 72. https://line6.com/support/manuals/helixlt Once you can get sound into, and back out of Reaper, the easier it will become. You appear to be concentrating on the plug-in more than the hardware that you really need to know how to use as an AI. Treat it logically, one piece at a time. Hope this helps/makes sense. Here’s a video of a guy setting up a Helix with Studio One that may help.

imagine the horror - if you had plugged it in and it was empty!

hx effects HX Effects - intermittent display corruption
datacommando replied to ian_90's topic in Helix
Hi, Well, it looks as if you have done all the usual stuff that is recommended in troubleshooting this sort of situation. As that has not fixed the issue, it could be a hardware problem that’s beyond the scope of contributors here. Best thing to do now is to raise a ticket with Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense.- 8 replies
