  1. The manual explains it here: Page 35 - Editing Send, Return, FX Loop & Looper Blocks plus Helix Native has it’s own section here: https://line6.com/support/forum/90-helix-native/
  2. That FS2 thing is undocumented but, it has been referred to in the past by Eric K, as "LED light fun". I would imagine it is purely for novelty value, as it seems to serve no real purpose. LED fun is interesting for about, oh... 3 seconds it's just one of those things that programmers do - because they can. Someone even went to the trouble of making a video -
  3. The trial version is free to download and is fully functional for 15 days - try it and see. Any problems report them to Line 6 Customer Support, so they will be aware and can take steps to fix any issues. We are HXN users on this forum trying to help each other out if we can, some things we have fixed, other things are beyond our scope.
  4. Nay, nay, nay, (neigh) - could it be the Dark Horse Fuzz?
  5. Well, judging from Eric’s post to the Facebook group it would appear that only a certain mysterious “dark horse” part of this update will apply to all the dual processor units - LT, Floor and Rack. Oh, yeah, they also have the VDI interface for Variax. As for where this will leave Stomp and FX users the is no mention, which is rather odd as the changes to the Core OS was supposed to align everything in the Helix product range. Although, if they don’t have the processing muscle...
  6. Someone on TGP mentioned Spring 2021 to which DI replied - “Oh jeez, I hope not!“
  7. Aw, you beat me to it - I was going to post the self same info but, I was hanging back to see if Eric, or any other Line 6 staffer, would bother to post that same notice in this forum. Nope! This really is the last resort, guys! Oh, and TGP got this from a Frank R this a.m. “3.0 is going to be sweeet” Plus, this from DI, regarding v3.0 manuals “They're still not going to have in-depth discussions on each and every model, and some of the 3.0 models definitely require reading the Release Notes (or at least watching a video) to get the most out of 'em.”
  8. Well, he seems to be using an Electro Harmonix POG when he is doing that angelic pad effect( a POG preset). Many Helix users are crying out for an POG style model to be added and rumours abound that Line 6 have taken on some experts in polyphonic pitch-shifting. In the mean time you could simply start messing around with a couple of dual pitch shifters and the Autoswell into a chorus, delay and reverb. You could start with a volume pedal, because basically you need to take off the pick attack and get that "violin" type of sustain, then mess around till you find something you like. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  9. If you think this stuff is convoluted, you really ought to check his insights into the Helix looper. I cannot figure out why someone puts so much effort into getting absolutely nowhere. Trying to communicate with someone going in circles is an exercise in futility, especially someone who always wants the last word. When I fell into the trap of trying to unravel his waffle, I was described as: “The most insulting arrogant person I've ever seen on a forum.” I don’t mind that, because I think my people skills are just fine, it’s my tolerance of nonsense that needs more work!
  10. Well, as you have just discovered, this Line 6 forum is unlikely to give you the answer you are looking for - it’s full of differing opinions - that’s what forums are. You should heed the advice from “rd2rk”, in the post above. Hang on to your Boss GT and get the Helix on approval to do a side by side comparison. No one on here would advise you to part with a big chunk of cash for an unknown quantity. You really need to have hands on experience of the thing. We’re really not being negative - this is a big investment, not to be taken lightly, because you may be attached to the thing for years. I have had my Helix floor for 4 years and don’t regret a minute. I’ve been using this stuff since the original “Kidney Bean” and still own a HD500 and XT Live, so my option may be biased. Although I have previously owned a Boss GT6 and have stacks of other outboard gear, there is no way I could offer a recommendation. You really have to decide for yourself. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. Hey, the MIDI CC 68 could well be the solution to your problem. Also, I fully understand the annoyance of the tuner kicking in unexpectedly, but as you said that this started “randomly” during a session, there could well have been other factors involved. Knowing your OS and DAW can help narrow the field when troubleshooting mysterious glitches. Hope this helps/makes sense. Let us know how it goes. Good luck
  12. Really! You ask “what can I expect as far as tone improvement compared to the GT100?”. Sorry “Hatman777”, only you can be the judge of that, I can’t help you, as I don’t know what you expect. You really need to check this stuff for yourself. Lots of people using the Headrush, among other brands - once more it’s a personal decision. These are personal preferences - things only you can decide. Hope this makes sense!
  13. Seems to be a problem for Line 6 users in France - see if there is anything in this thread which may help.
  14. Oops! That’s got to be an exercise in total futility! As you pointed out - it’s a rabbit hole, and I guess you should have taken the red pill. The trouble with this sort of thing, is simply the fact that only Def Leppard (or whoever else you choose) will ever sound like them. Everything else is a cheap pastiche - you really need to do what they did - create your own signature sound - or enlist the aid of Mutt. If you need a starting point, then you could do worse than Scott’s “Hysteria” pack. Begin there and modify to suit your situation. As for the Tom Scholz “Rockman” (modified or not) tones - well that has been discussed many times in these pages and seem to be a bit of an Holy Grail. (Anyone else in here remember ”itsslash”, or was it “Iamtheone”, and can the Helix really sound like Andy Summers - aaaaarrrrrrgggg!). Good luck with your quest!
  15. Once more, your psychic powers astound me! How do you know this? Do you actually read any of the replies to this thread. I have already posted a comment from Digital Igloo, which I think negates your telepathic ability. So, to hammer it home, this is the quote repeated: “Helix is professional gear “designed for professionals” and we weren't about to dumb down our headphone amp because everyone happens to have white earbuds in some drawer in their house. Feel free to use consumer cans, but don't expect it to sound great.” Plus, this is the link to a response from Digital Igloo on TGP from way, way back in 2016, that was previously posted by “qwerty42”. https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/line6-helix.1586637/page-1185#post-22007938 For anyone who cannot be bothered to check - this is the gist of the reply. “Helix's headphone amp is LOUD; it's designed to drive high-impedance studio headphones to stage volumes. Low impedance headphones distort way faster, fatigue your ears, and at a high enough volume, can damage your hearing. With Helix you could conceivably split the headphone output to two pairs of 200-300 Ω cans/IEMs and drive both over the sound of a drummer (and adjust respective levels via MIDI CC control of path output blocks). My band does this now. Personally, I use Sennheiser HD600s (300 Ω), and before those, the HD580s (same). Also have a bunch of Sony 7506s around, but they're 63 Ω and harsh-sounding already, even with an iPod. I also keep a pair of Sennheiser HD280 Pros (64 Ω) at work and they're pretty boxy sounding, but if I can get a mix to sound good on them, it'll sound good anywhere. I treat them like wearable Yamaha NS10s, if those NS10s were powered by an Alesis RA100 instead of a Bryston. Wouldn't want to construct tones with them.” A follow on response states: ”A pair's Sensitivity and Max Input Power specs have a big impact as well. Basically, some headphones are the equivalent of cheap plastic 2" desktop speakers and others are the equivalent of high end studio monitors.” As these statements were made by Digital Igloo (Eric Klein - Chief Product Design Architect at Yamaha Guitar Group, Inc. / Line 6 / Ampeg), if you have any issues with them, then you really should take it up with him. The dead horse has now been canned and being sold as dog food! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Well, way back in 2017, in a thread entitled “ The Mother of all Headphone Complaint Answers”, there is a comment from Digital Igloo where he says: - “Helix is professional gear “designed for professionals” and we weren't about to dumb down our headphone amp because everyone happens to have white earbuds in some drawer in their house. Feel free to use consumer cans, but don't expect it to sound great.” Although, I thought that you would be already aware of this, as you went over all this stuff in the thread about headphone amps back in March this year. You actually posted a link to the comments from Eric (DI) which he made over on The Gear Page. Must be the virus sending us all mad! And the vet says the horse is dead!
  17. This really is starting to feel like “Groundhog Day”. May I suggest that a little research is your friend. I guess that you didn’t bother check any prior threads, for example - like this one! or this, Plus all the other threads. Hope this helps/makes sense!
  18. Well, if they do, then the place to post your suggestion and to see how many vote for it - it needs to be here: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/ideas/search?templateId=0&query=Native&pageOffset=0#idea-865585 Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Ah, yeah, welcome to the world of “all presets suck!”. Scott is a great guy and his demo videos are really worth watching. In fact I have some of his presets that work just fine (for me) but, as you have discovered (and has been mentioned many, many times), the same preset can sound totally different in a different environment through different speakers. It is all different! One comment that you made that did seem a little odd to me was - the fact that you think because “Hysteria” is a studio created sound, it should be difficult to recreate within the Helix. One of the biggest “complaints” about Helix is that it “doesn’t sound like the amp in the room”. That’s because the sound of the Helix is more like listening to the “fully produced” sound that you would hear in a studio control room. If that’s the case it should be achievable. Plus, as you have already discovered, asking someone else to create the tone for you just won’t work. Different guitar, different pickups, strings, pick attack, speakers, listening environment will all fail, even more so if you are not actually Phil Collen. Damn, I remember seeing Def Leppard playing live, so that theory that the tone cannot be created outside of the studio can’t be quite right. Best bet, create your own sound, but at least it makes a change from people requesting David Gilmour presets - because when they eventually get one, that’s the time they realise they are not Mr. Gilmour. Simple as. ;-)
  20. Hell, ain’t that what these guy’s are after? Damn! Where are the emojis when ya need ‘em? ;-)
  21. Hi, First thing to try is hold down Foot Switches 2+3 while powering up the Stomp. This should perform a “Factory Reset”, then from there you can try the update again if necessary. I can see that the Stomp is on v2.71 and if you are trying to update to v2.92 you should have be aware that there was a major change to the Helix Core Operating System at v.2.8. The firmware release notes mention that at a point about 50% through the update the Line 6 Updater displays a second dialogue and the LCD reads “Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode” THIS IS NORMAL. I don’t have a Stomp, so I’m not sure if that message is shown on the unit’s screen, but I think that this is probably what has happened to your box. Hopefully the Reset should fix it but, if it doesn’t you could try powering up the Stomp while holding down “PAGE >”. On a Helix FX box this puts the hardware into “Safe Boot” mode. NOTE: This option is not documented in the regular Reset Options for the Stomp although I have read that others have had this keypress work for them. Should doing this give you a completely blank screen, you should be able to re-install the firmware again. No guarantee is given or implied - if you decide to attempt the Safe Boot routine, you do so at your own risk. If you’re using a Windows PC check this thread for a comment about doing offline updates. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. Hi, A little more clarification would help here. You’re running a latest version of Logic on a Mac with the latest OS and the most recent version of Helix Native. The missing details are, how long have you been using this set up and did it always work perfectly up until just now. If yes, that what has changed that might have caused the crash to occur. There a several threads discussing HXN in various DAWs where it will either hang or crash. Some of these incidents happen because Native “phones home” to check authorisation, but usually, when fully registered the problem goes away. From your description about disconnecting the internet, I would guess that the “phone home” security check may be the source of the problem. I suggest that you disable any blockers that may be interfering with the “handshake”, for example, check your firewall and/or applications like Little Snitch, Radio Silence etc., and turn them off or grant access. Failing this, the best thing to do is raise a ticket with Line 6 Customer Support - at least they will be made aware of the issue. We’re not exactly tech support people here, but other Helix Native who have been using the plugin for sometime and usually without problems.
  23. Hi, I understand you are not happy with the issue of the tuner stopping you from recording, but when you are seeking assistance from other users, it helpful to us to know exactly what computer configuration, OS and DAW you a having this issue with. There are too many options to simply guess what is causing this problem. Sadly, we also have zero clue, therefore no one here can help without this information. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Hi Claude, If you are stuck with GarageBand and you have managed to record a DI track along with the processed signal, you can re-amp using the many available amp and fx options within GBand. Simply set up a blank GB amp track and drag your DI audio onto it. Ok, it’s not a Helix, but it works - plus if you had Helix Native that would work as an AU plugin making all the Helix sounds available to you. It’s a work around solution, until you buy a copy of GBand’s big brother, Logic Pro X - which re-amps perfectly and also runs Native.
