Wet Effect Ducking And Weird Zing/Fizzy Noise
datacommando replied to calexandervanzyl's topic in Helix
Hi Alexander, I find that I must agree with the comments from “rd2rk” in the post above. I didn’t have much time to go through everything as I was busy with something else, but I replaced the missing IRs and then ran them through my Tannoy Reveal 802 monitors and found that I didn’t seem to detect a “weird fizzy/zing noise” on your example patch. The second preset has some interesting fx paths in there. The thing you mentioned about the delay/reverb ducking may be due to the settings on the LA Studio Compressor that is last in the chain. With those settings it may be a side effect of the compressor “pumping” and for some reason really flattening the wet signal and letting the dry through. I reset the parameters to be pretty standard (for me) when using the LA comp at the end :- PeakReduc: 7.8 Gain: 7.0 Type: Compress Emphasis: 3.5 Mix: 90% Level: 0dB that seemed to help a bit. Oh, yeah - you really like that Glitz verb. Sorry that I didn’t have time to dive deep, I wanted to check how you have split the parallel paths and why the brackets around the second delay and reverb blocks on path 2. Maybe possible to check later. -
Well, coincidentally, I just happen to have been messing around with the "Double Take" block and that parameter is still named "Slop" in v.2.92.0. Maybe it will be changed in a future update, although it isn't the sort of block that I would use a lot, but I'm happy to know that it's there for a little odd modulation. ;-)

SOLVED - Anyway to free up attachment space on this forum?
datacommando replied to Lone_Poor_Boy's topic in Helix
Ah! You found it, many users on here never do. ;-) -
I really do have to say this, even though I am not a Line 6 employee. I would seriously urge caution on your part. Making statements, such as the one that I have quoted above, appear to be legally - “skating on thin ice”. Unless you can back up these comments, I would imagine this may be borderline libellous. Nuff said!

Oh, really Alexander, you are a very silly child. I don’t know where you got the idea that I’m employed by Line 6 as a “hooray-sayer”? But, DILLIGAF!
-
Oh, Alexander, So, today it’s bad hardware design to add to the list of complaints, along with Real Time Latency and HX Native. Line 6 should have hired you as a consultant, because you seem to be aware of everything that is just not good enough. Please, do everyone a favour and go on your 3 weeks holiday and let other users have some respite from your constant pi$$ing and moaning! But that won’t happen, because now you will feel the need to reply to this, won’t you Alexander?
-
First off: I have better things to do in my life than research facts about you! Surely, it is common knowledge that "Sascha" is the diminutive of the name Alexander. I used that version of your name in a manner rather like a grandparent scolding a naughty child, because yes, Alexander, you do seem to have an opinion about everything. The thing about opinions is that they are like a$$holes - everybody has one and you seem to have more than you fair share. Try posting your comments about Helix latency on TGP and see how much respect you get, although you may finally get the attention of some Line 6 management. I as I said - post you request on IdeaScale which is the proper place to get attention. If you are so unhappy with the Helix a quick solution is to use something else. Now, as I have a real life rather than an artists impression of one, I shall leave you to annoy some other users with your constant moaning.
-
Really, Alexander, you know that Line 6 staff do not monitor these threads! See second black banner at the top of this forum “Why is Line 6 not responding???” Furthermore, as noted by “rd2rk” in an earlier reply, this is not the first time you have made a big deal out of this topic. If latency is an issue for you, simply post asking for a solution on IdeaScale where it will be seen and possibly submitted for consideration. Nuff said!

HX Edit: Drive, Volume, Distortion amp equivalents?
datacommando replied to avalon650's topic in Helix
Hi, I suggest a visit to <helixhelp.com> and under the “tips” section check out Common Amp Settings for a little more insight. https://helixhelp.com/manuals/helix/the-blocks.html#common-amp-settings Welcome to the world of digital modelling. -
Helix Native 2.92 crashes on compatibility change
datacommando replied to Verchrona's topic in Helix Native
Hi, I’m confused as to why you want to turn off “hardware compatibility”? If you are using an HX Stomp then there is a limit to how many blocks you can use for the patches you create in HX Native to maintain compatibility with your hardware and make them interchangeable. Check - Helix Native Pilot’s Guide - Page 12 “Preset Compatibility with Helix Devices”. As I understand it, this is the same when using HX Edit because you cannot create presets with more blocks than your connected hardware can manage. Check - HX Edit Pilot’s Guide - Page 3. I am unable to check this because I use HXN with a Helix Floor unit and therefore unrestricted. -
Failed to Connect to DSP Engine. Error code 8201
datacommando replied to muffinman0302's topic in Helix Native
Sorry, but Line 6 staff do not monitor these forums, so it is highly unlikely that anyone will “take action from here”. You really should raise a ticket with Customer Support as that is the only way to make them aware of any problems. These forums are for users to try to assist other users if they possibly can. At the top of this page click on the second black bar from the top which says “Why is Line 6 not responding???” to read the “official” comments about this. I hope that the latest update to the HX Native firmware has solved your problem. If not, please report it to CS. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, When asking for assistance from users of the forum, it is helpful to supply as much info as possible. Example: computer type and operating system, Ethernet or wi-fi and anything else vaguely useful to help track down a possible solution. You state you are using a Mac but not the version of OSX - Please note, if you are using Yosemite there are known issues with an expired Security Certificate. See this: Anyhow, I suggest that you could try this, (even if you are using another version of OSX) - this has worked for some other Mac Users. CUT, PASTE AND EDITED FROM MY RESPONSE IN ANOTHER THREAD If this is causing you so much trouble, then the easiest thing to do is not try to run the update over the internet and do a local install, by downloading the stuff you need and using the Line 6 Updater Utility. First you will need the HX Edit v2.92 software, then the HX v 2.92 Flash Memory for each of your Effects and Stomp boxes. (Note: This used to be a single bundle that updated all the Helix range plus HX Stomp and HX Effects) O.K. go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select HX Effects, then leave the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" as is, now select Mac OS X from under the "-ALL OS-" tab. from the next page you can select HX Edit 2.92, then below that you will need the HX Effects Firmware 2.92 Flash Memory. Now scroll further down the page a grab Line 6 Updater version 1.9. Download all these bits to your Mac( they need to be installed in the Line 6 folder inside your Applications Folder). Then from under "-ALL HARDWARE-“ select HX Stomp and as before repeat to then download the HX Stomp Firmware 2.92 Flash Memory - (you already have the other bits downloaded). If as you say these are newish HX units, you may have made some presets that you wish to keep, then they need to be backed up using HX Edit prior to updating the Firmware. If everything if fine then proceed to next step. Ensure that you have your first HX unit connected to the Mac by USB cable and launch the Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your HX model and current firmware version should show in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at the Flash Memory file you down loaded For that unit and let it get on with the update. Rinse and repeat for the second HX unit. IMPORTANT: Please read the Release Notes on the Firmware Download Page regarding backup of your existing presets etc. Hope this helps/makes sense

As noted by “phil_m” in his post above, you need to ensure you are running the latest version of HX Edit. Furthermore, make sure that your presets have been restored. (Hold down FS1 &FS2 while powering up your HX Stomp). But most of all - you did follow the instructions on the download page exactly? The bits in red print are important! You did make a backup as instructed in the firmware update notes, which state?: STEP 2—Updating Helix/HX Firmware to 2.92 If you have Helix Rack/Control, turn off Helix Control. Also, shut down all Line 6 software or any programs that use audio, like DAWs, iTunes, Spotify, video games, etc. Connect your Helix/HX device to a Mac or PC via USB (do not use any sort of USB hub, which may include the front USB ports on towers) and turn it on. Launch the new version of HX Edit 2.92 you installed in Step 1 above. If you're not signed in, click "Check for Updates" in the lower right corner and sign in. If you're already signed in, a dialog panel appears, indicating an update is available. Click "Update Now." A window appears, asking you to back up your Helix/HX hardware. Click OK, optionally rename the backup and/or choose a different destination folder, and then click "Create Backup." IMPORTANT! Note the location where you've saved the backup. Continue following the prompts. Once updated, the window reads "Update Complete" and your Helix/HX hardware begins rebuilding its presets; wait for this to complete and click "Back to HX Edit." From the File pull-down menu, click "Restore from backup..." A dialog appears. Click "Restore Backup" and then "Yes." Once the restore has finished, turn your Helix/HX product off and then on again. If you have Helix Control connected to Helix Rack, turn on Helix Control. Helix Rack reads "Helix Control must be updated to work properly." Press Knob 6 (OK). Hope this helps/makes sense (second time today that I’ve had to post this!)

Congratulations, you have just resurrected a dead 4 year old thread, and simply stating “Invalid password to my updater for HX STOMP” doesn’t give us much to go on. Password for what exactly? When asking for assistance it helps to supply as much information as possible. For example what computer and operating system you are using and exactly what you were doing when the problem occurred. It is very difficult for anyone to provide help without this sort of information. Help is to help you and hope this makes sense.

And version 1.93 is available for download This update improves the stability of Helix Native and is recommended for all users. Fixes a crash that would occur when loading a preset with a missing IR

ZOMBIE THREAD ALERT! Well, the simple answer from me is, I have had HX Native installed on my iMac Retina 5K since mid August 2017 and it works just fine - it is used almost every daily along with the (now nearly 5 year old) Helix floor unit. Solid stuff. YMMV. In the earlier versions there were some problems with Native wanting to "phone home" constantly and causing some grief, as noted in the posts above. The only issue I have ever really had was when I switched from the demo version to the authorised full version it refused to accept the authorisation for a while until the demo expired, see thread.

Ye gods! Is that thing still doing the rounds? I though someone got dropped on for "copyright infringement" over that sticker! Or, maybe it was a wind up. ;-)

Hi, During the process of updating the firmware in your Helix lots of settings are restored to the factory defaults. One of the major ones is your "Global" settings. It may not matter if you haven't modified them, but many users do change them and consequently after an update run off to forums to decry Line 6 for having screwed up their hardware. Think of it as a safety net. Oh, yeah, all that "loud stuff printed in red" wasn't me, it was originally written by "Digital Igloo" (Eric Klein -Chief Product Design Architect at Yamaha Guitar Group, Inc.) And this has just made it to 2,000 replies in the Helix Bug Reports - yay! ;-)

O.K. Helix Native should sound no different to the hardware versions of the HX range of produts. First thing to do is check that your DI guitar track can be sent back out of Studio One to your HX Stomp through the exact same preset and can be recorded back into Studio One and sound identical to the original. See owners HX Stomp manual page 45 regarding DI Recording and Re-Amping (re-Amping Through HX Stomp section). If that works then I suspect that it maybe something to do with the routing inside Studio One. Also, as you say you can get the unprocessed signal in and out of HX Native, but it sounds "wrong", make sure the the input signal to Native is not too hot - aim for between -18 and -12db on both in and out. I just tested a round trip signal from Logic Pro X through my Helix floor and then the same dry signal into HX Native - the sound is identical, which is what makes me think that it is possibly something in Studio One that is not set correctly. If I get chance I may download the Studio One free demo and check it out.

Mmm... As “silverhead” noted: - “Following firmware update instructions is important.”, so I would guess you didn’t bother to read the important stuff, which explains you have to restore from a backup. Line 6 must think that it is very important because on the download page the info is printed in red type. EXAMPLE: IMPORTANT! Carefully read and follow the update instructions below. If you don't—and then run to the forums asking why it's not working—the interwebs will make fun of you. Updating Helix/HX Firmware to 2.92 Helix Floor, Helix Rack, Helix LT, HX Effects, HX Stomp STEP 1—Updating HX Edit to 2.92 (assuming you haven't done this already) Log onto line6.com, download, and install HX Edit 2.90: macOS: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9732 Windows 7/8/10: https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=9731 STEP 2—Updating Helix/HX Firmware to 2.92 If you have Helix Rack/Control, turn off Helix Control. Thanks for resurrecting a sleeping thread which has explained that HXEdit is not available as an app to run on your iPad, and “mystic38” also gives some very good reasons why, in the post above. Your issue: ”in case i get in a place that dosen't have wifi like out door gig?” Solution (as used by many) - use a laptop.

Helix LT 2.92 Update now Path 2B and Path 2A+2B greyed out
datacommando replied to edstar1960's topic in Helix
I think that you may be a little confused when you say, “to ensure I took the stereo signal from the top signal path and input it into the signal path at the bottom”. All paths in the Helix are stereo. Amp and Cab Blocks are mono, but If you were routing a serial signal from Path 1A to 2A it would be stereo from any stereo effect added after the cabinet. Even if you split Path 1A to 1B (parallel) and then return it to 1A it remains stereo unless you add a mono effect which will collapse the signal back to mono. I’m not in the studio at the moment, but I think that if you make a parallel split from 1A down to 1B and don’t rejoin them, then the option to send to 2A & 2B will be there because the signal is exiting from 1A and 1B, or as “malhavok” states in the post above, you actually need to create a Path 2B to send it to.- 4 replies

[May I suggest that the simplest way to find out what presets are included, how they are named, and what they sound like, is to download the trial version of Helix Native and load it into your favourite Digital Audio Workstation. It is fully functional and contains all the same features as the hardware version of Helix and you can use it for 15 days. I hope this helps.]

That is very true - although, it is not quite the same as running an “app” directly from an iPad, which is what I suspect the poster was asking for. AFAIK a stand alone version isn’t available and the “sidecar”option is something of a novelty second screen.
