I just had a look on TGP and someone asks about email notification and the reply from Frank Ritchotte was: "We do. It’s just not the moment it releases its usually within a week. If you are registered you should be getting it." Hope that clears things up.

Well, better get ready for it to hit the air conditioning because the backlash has already started. Check other threads on here. Note: most of which seem to be originating from first time or lower level posters and the usual "Update brick my Helix" Ye Gods - does nobody ever read the freeking notes, especially with regard USB. I know I shouldn't, but still after 4 and a half years, I really do despair. Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool!

Suggestion: At the top of this page is your user name and avatar. Click on that and from the drop down select “Account Settings” and from there, on the left hand side you should see “Other Settings” and below that “Notification Settings” from there you can select how and when you are notified. Select what you prefer and “Save”. I used to have notifications of Firmware Updates by following the threads where that news was likely to be posted, but the news of updates no longer seem to follow any logic and appear as random posts, many of which are in other social media platforms rather than here. Hope this helps/makes sense

Oh, you'll soon adjust to not being surprised by things in these forums - it has been noted on many occasions that if you want to know when new stuff has or is just about to drop, you need to check on TGP or BookFace as they seem to be two of the places that find out first. This is like the land that time forgot!

This is possibly because the wait for 2.90 was longer than expected and the zero in the number designates a major change to the firmware. Both the 2.91 and 2.92 releases were hot fixes released as a rapid response to bugs discovered in the main firmware. The decimal increment in the numbers indicates they are intermediate patches to the main software. Because some users were waiting for the quick fix to their problems it is probably easier just to get the stuff out there and others will soon notice it is available for download. Hope this makes sense

If only Line 6 made a programmable switcher/swapper.
datacommando replied to optofonik's topic in Helix
Excellent, but my reply was essentially to highlight your question:- “Are you listening, Line 6?!” The answer to that was and still is - highly unlikely. Let’s hope your suggestion gets upvoted on Ideascale. Stay safe. -
Sarcasm. It’s not an attitude it’s an art!

Erm... Scuse me, but he did post it here - look at the top to the page and in the fifth banner from the top (first blue banner) you will see: UPDATE 5/18/20: Line 6/YGG COVID-19 Company Status Hope nobody is gonna be upset by thinking that info wasn't also posted on here - well, there it is - it's right under our noses.

How's a Helix going to hold up to someone spilling a drink on it?
datacommando replied to Lone_Poor_Boy's topic in Helix
Still got mains power feeding it. -
Well that's really odd. Can you hear the looper from the headphone out socket. Yes/No. If - Yes - and you are also getting audio to your monitors/amp/FRFR Cab from the Helix using a regular/normal preset, then you should be able to hear the looper. If - No - The looper section of the Helix is just like any other amp or effect and if they are all functioning as they should then it's time to raise a ticket with Customer Support.
-
Hi Jeff, May be helpful to take 10 minutes to look at this old video that covers the basics of the Helix Looper functions. Should be enough to get you rolling. Check it out.

Glad you managed to get updated to 2.91 and yes, your assumption was correct - there was a big change to the HX Core operating system, but you are over that hurdle. Now you just have to wait for FW v3.0 which is rumoured to be the next big leap forward for the Helix line. Have fun.

datacommando replied to Lone_Poor_Boy's topic in Helix
Well, over the years I have found that, electricity plus liquid equals danger of death. -
And you obviously didn’t read my reply correctly - the preset thing - that’s not my philosophy, as I pointed out it’s a quote from Digital Igloo (Eric Klein Chief Product Design Architect at Yamaha Guitar Group, Inc. / Line 6 / Ampeg). You loaded the Factory Presets, but you would like someone else to tell you what’s new? Uh! Look up what was there previously and compare. Tell you what - I’ll make it real easy - follow this link and scroll down to find lists of everything that ever was a factory preset and which changed from update to update. Now that should be real simple and as noted “all presets suck”. https://benvesco.com/store/line-6-helix/ You really don’t get it.

datacommando replied to optofonik's topic in Helix
Highly unlikely in this forum, which is user to user. Line 6 staff rarely drop in, therefore any suggestions for perceived improvements and/or modifications to the HX range need to be posted on the Line 6 Ideascale website - not on here. The “sticky” at the top of this forum is to let other users what you have added to IdeaScale in the hope that others agree and will vote it up. Also see, "Why is Line 6 not responding???" at the top. https://line6.ideascale.com -
Well, I guess that was covered in the previous replies posted in the thread, which were, a bug/change in the firmware v2.8x caused an issue where the joystick didn’t work like expected or, the joystick tags needed to be re-soldered or hardware failure. Updated firmware fixed one problem and a soldering iron fixed the other two. Can’t think there is anything else.

Has it? Why? You need to get out more! Oh, no you can’t! Got to agree with “rd2rk” and the comments posted above. -
If you want to know, simply make backup of your stuff and then restore the factory presets and check them out. Then go back to your own. As Digital Igloo is known to say - “All presets suck!” Stay safe.

Not only an under powered computer, but a failure to read the manual. For connecting your Helix LT to a computer you should read, study and inwardly digest pages 53 through 56. I really despair that someone spends a heap of cash on a digital toy and then is surprised that it won’t work properly with old gear and expects quality audio from a mini jack socket. You don’t want to spend money on a better computer system, but are asking if you need to buy a basic mixer. In the post above, ”qwerty42” has essentially restated the things that I mentioned in my earlier post about using the Helix as an audio interface. Possibly you didn’t read that, much like the manual. You obviously don’t have your DAW on the Mac set up to use the Helix as it should because as you say that you unplug and replug the USB to fix things, yet don’t say that the DAW flashes up a screen telling you that the audio device has been disconnected and the you have to re-establish the USB audio. Madness, sheer madness. Check this: https://line6.com/data/6/0a06439c975d5787c3e351aa0/application/pdf/Helix 2.0 Owners Manual - Rev D - English .pdf ———————————————————— “We'll be saying a big hello to all intelligent lifeforms everywhere and to everyone else out there, the secret is to bang the rocks together, guys.” ― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

The best advice would be to update your firmware to 2.91. As noted in many of the posts above, lots of users found issues with the joystick which were due to a slight change with v2.8x in how it responded to the users touch. Some even reverted to an earlier firmware and everything worked as expected, so it was shown not to be a hardware fault. This quote from MonkeyXT states: ”... you might find that pressing and releasing the joystick push function quicker makes it act predictably - it seems to ignore 'long' presses since v2.8x, and 'long' isn't all that long either.” If you do the update to the latest firmware and it doesn’t fix the joystick then it may well be a hardware problem (some joysticks needed to be re-soldered on the tags), which can be solved easily and quickly. Eliminate the obvious things first. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Well, the first place to check would be in the Pilot’s Guide that is built into HX Native and right there on page 22 under “Using the Preset File Menu” you will find: • Open From Disk - Allows you to load a saved preset from your collections of Helix preset (.hlx) files saved on your computer. This differs from using the Import command found within the Presets panel in that it loads the preset directly into the Signal Flow without also importing the preset into the plug- in's Presets panel library. If you edit this loaded preset and wish to save your changes, use the Save options, as described below. • Save To Disk - Exports the currently loaded tone to your computer, offering you the option for your specific save location. By default, presets are saved as .hlx files to: • Mac - /Documents/Line 6/Tones/Helix folder • PC - \My Documents\Line 6\Tones\Helix folder • Save To Library - Allows you to choose any preset location within your Presets panel to save the preset into the plug-in's internal Presets Library. Hope this helps/makes sense

i think line 6 Native sux! Can't get any help
datacommando replied to hitman042's topic in Helix Native
I find this a little difficult to understand and possibly over exaggerated with statements like - “a million websites” and “a ton of line 6 gear, more than a normal gigging musician”. Mmm... a HX floor, a Stomp and HXN isn’t exactly a ton or more than other of the users on here. As for installing on a Mac, with whatever DAW, people have also had issues, so you’re not alone and a Mac is not faultless. Most of these issues get resolved, but it’s a big help to know exactly what your PC/DAW configuration is. A lot of these glitches can be traced back to the computer, or user error, because there are lots of other users out there that are perfectly happy with HX Native. If you really do want some assistance, then maybe rein back the attitude and supply specific details and it might happen. For example “phil_m” in has post above has said his PC running Windows 10 works fine with Native. Take a deep breath and then relax. I have to laugh! -
Hi, This has come up on several occasions and if I recall correctly, your CODE - 8201 is a badly formatted preset error. Try this: Reboot your Helix while holding down footswitches 10 & 11 which should rebuild your presets and update them to the latest firmware spec. After that you should be able re-install the latest firmware.
